Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I enjoyed reading this book.
Fran job is like a mystery shopper, only, she visits hotels and reports back what she thought was nice or not.
But, when she arrives at a hotel in France, they think she’s the new housekeeper. Instead of correcting them, Fran does that job, so that she can give her viewpoint from the role of an employee.
But, soon things don’t go as she expected.
The perfect beach read.
I recommend this book.
A wonderful book by Rachel. With loveable characters and beautiful narratives making it a heart warming early summer read. I will be looking for more books by this author.
A great summer read. Fran is reeling from the loss of her mum and from a relationship breakup. She lands a job as a "mystery guest" for the 5 star hotel chain Wilding Holdings. She gets to visit all the luxury hotels and report back on her findings. When Fran arrives at the Chateau les Champs d'Or she is mistaken for a new staff recruit when she asks to speak to the Manager. As Fran is a little bored with all the luxury, she makes the split second decision that this would be a great way to find out how things really are at the hotel from a staff rather than guest perspective. After all what could possibly go wrong... Johnny arrives at the hotel with his brother and two other friends. He runs a wine business with his brother and is trying to settle in to his role as a single father. Unlike his ebullient brother he is much more reserved. Follow the course of their time at the Chateaux. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.
From the start, I could not put the book down. It had a cast of characters and a lovely storyline that kept me wondering. I was pleasantly surprised by Fran’s secret. The ending was a bit expected, but I enjoyed the journey to get to the ending.
The book did jump from one character to another frequently with their own stories. There were sections that were lengthy reflections and light on dialogue. A few of those spots I wished moved faster. For that reason, I am giving it 4 stars instead of five.
Overall, this is a perfect read for the summer. It is good book that transports the reader to the French countryside. A perfect escape. I will be reading more from this author.
Thank you to #netgalley #EscapetotheFrenchChateau for the ARC for an honest review.
What a lovely book to read, filled with some mystery, second chances, romance and beautiful setting. I love the storyline and found it interesting and heart-warming yet emotional and at times there was drama so it really did have a bit of everything.
Great characters, easy to read, fun and interesting and it took me no time at all to read this book. Or should I say devour it.
Thank you NetGalley and Embla Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
What a great story!!
I loved all the mystery surrounding Luke, you knew their had been something major but the leaving it quiet fit so many stereotypical male personalities. This was a brilliant book from start to finish!
Perfect summer read love the characters and the setting.Rachel Barnett has written a wonderful story that I enjoyed from beginning to end.#netgalley #bonnierbooks
On arrival at a luxury chateau as a mystery guest Fran is mistaken for the new chambermaid. She decides to review the hotel from a difficult point of view. When Johnny and his colleagues check into the chateau complications multiply. This is a great summer read set in a beautiful part of the world with interesting characters and a few twists in the story. Recommended.
Fran works as a secret shopper for hotels, she checks out the hotels and reports her findings. she is mistaken for a chambermaid at a hotel and decides to take the job, it turns out differently then she thinks. cute story
A tense story about two people with emotional baggage. They allow a new horizon
to enter their lives, and make romance a possibility.
An uplifting story, with lots of optimism and fun.
This was a fab story but it jumped characters too much . You move from Harry to Penny to so on and son and back . For me I did not like it. Some good twists but it took so long to get what you knew would happen. Fran was an amazing main character and she had some tough times but she was not money greedy which I liked.. The ending was neat and I won’t spoil the bit that made me happy.
Fran's job is to visit hotels and report back on her findings. Like a mystery shopper. She is heading to a hotel in France but gets mistaken for a new housekeeper, so she decides to take on the task and see things from a different perspective.
Meanwhile, Johnny arrives with his brother Noel and two friends. Things take a turn when Johnny overhears a conversation.
A cute girl meets boy, throw in a little drama, and let's not forget the gorgeous cat, Red.
A light summer read, great for the beach or the pool, which is where I've read this.
Thanks to Netgalley and Embla Books for the invitation to read this in return for an honest review.
Fran works as a secret shopper for a hotel chain. After a mix-up in the Loire where she's taken for a chamber maid she decides to keep up the pretence and write a report from the other prospective of the staff point of view. It turns out entirely different to what she thought it would be
I enjoyed this feel good romance set in France. Fran is sent there by her employer to check out one of the hotels in their ownership. I definitely enjoyed this easy to read romance. There was drama and some intrigue and a rather cute cat. I recommend this as a fabulous summer read.
Thanks to NetGalley and Embla for the opportunity to read Escape to the French Chateau by Rachel Barnett, a perfect summer escape. I enjoyed spending time with the characters and especially loved the setting.
Lovely easy read, very well written with an interesting storyline.Great characters who I really engaged with , so much so I didn’t want the story to end. I love books set in France and this was no different , beautiful descriptions of the lush countryside and the grand chateaux. Highly recommended.
Excellent read, loved the surprises, the relationships and most of the characters. A great summer read
What a great summer read. Sunny, funny, sweet, charming and unmistakably Gallic. The scenery the food, the wine were all perfect.
I love a French scenery inspired book.
Fran was a great character, the right amount of feisty, kind, funny, jaded character. She has lost her mum and is on a new journey working towards her future.
Johnny is a newly single dad of one, running a winery and looking for his new normal too. They meet, make friends and spend time in the the French countryside.
This is a great read.
Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is the perfect Summer book! Travel, French countryside, wine, love, a variety of relationships, and a couple you'll be rooting for!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for access to this eARC.
From the minute I opened this book the characters are just unforgettable, unputdownable and after all who doesn't love books set in France? They are my weakness and I wanted to keep on reading Fran's story right to the end.
A must for this summer's pool or beachside reads.
