Loved the premise, the beginning was just a bit rushed and clunky for me. The apcing was oof a bit, some scenes dragged on for too long while others were rushed.

Thank you NetGalley for this Read Now Choice! I was so excited to read this as the front cover peaked my interest.

Ruby finally gets her dream job as a flight attendant at Celestial Air but her toxic boyfriend, Richie, is completely against it. This is her dream job and her boyfriend did nothing but bring her down the entire time about it. What’s worse is that she stayed with him for over 80% of this book, letting him control her and insult her in the worst ways! I understand that toxic relationships can be hard to get away from but it felt like Ruby put up with her boyfriend’s s*** for way too long and it was dragged out a lot.

Ruby has no self-esteem and is miserable in her relationship, still trying to bring back a spark that is long gone, until she meets a pilot at Celestial Air called Milo. Milo is like the ‘too good to be true’ man for her and treats her the way she deserves to be treated. He shows her how beautiful and free her life could be once she stops letting Richie be the whole focus.. Yet she still stays with the idiot who shows no respect and is just a hateful person?? I struggled to understand why she stayed so long, especially when she started falling for Milo and knew she should leave her boyfriend who she no longer loved. Milo helped Ruby through a lot and was always there when she needed someone, unlike her boyfriend who left any chance he could get. Ruby did annoy me at times and I wish she had more of a backbone when it came to her toxic relationship but at least she eventually left him and went on to have a better life.

Overall, I liked the relationship between Ruby and Milo and thought it was sweet. I just wish Ruby would have left Richie sooner so that her and Milo could have had more time being a couple. I also enjoyed seeing what training it takes to become a flight attendant, the training sessions were fun to read. I will definitely try more books by Jackie Ladbury.

Ruby is a plucky, unlucky girl who uses her occasionally ill-timed humor as a coping mechanism. BUT, she’s also a girl with big dreams—big dreams that include a pair of bright red heels and a winged pin on her lapel.

I think the premise of this book is very good. It was entertaining to see some of the training and behind the scene details of what it takes to become a flight attendant. Unfortunately, a lot of those scenes dragged. We do meet a few fun characters during those moments, but I think they could have been edited back and still have the same impact.

Perhaps my biggest struggle with this book was the relationships. When I initially saw the cover, I thought it was strange that there were two men. There was even a moment when I wondered if it was a “why choose” or “love triangle” trope, and I guess it was a love triangle in a way. The pilot, Milo, is definitely the relationship you’re rooting for but for some reason Ruby stays with her horrendous boyfriend, Richie, for roughly 80% of the book. Even the last chapter before the epilogue features her now-ex instead of our endgame leading man. Richie is a horrible person from beginning to end. You are begging Ruby to drop him, and there are a few times where you think it might actually happen, but she returns to him again and again. It becomes infuriating, which isn’t something you want for your romance novel.

Ruby herself is a bit of an odd duck. In some ways, she’s pretty relatable. We all have those moments where we say the wrong thing or make a fool of ourselves. We all find ourselves scrolling instagram a little too long. We all occasionally have jealous or shallow moments. The issue comes when those moments are seen again and again to the point where your character seems less relatable and more cringy.

As a few technical notes; there were some terms or idioms that were unfamiliar to me, and the single quotation marks (‘) vs double quotation marks (“) took me by surprise, but I was able to adapt to it quickly. There are also one or two formatting issues (example: no page break on chapter ten) in the ebook version.

Overall, I really wanted to like this book. The blurb really drew me in and the cover is eye-catching. There were moments of the story that I really enjoyed! Unfortunately, the pace was just too slow for me, and the characters and their relationships just turned me off.

Thank you to NetGalley and A Joffe Books for providing a copy of Love is in the Air for honest review. All thoughts and options are my own.

Ruby was a doormat and has low self esteem but it was never told why. Ritchie was a piece of crap. Yet, Ruby stayed. Why???? This was more interesting than the actual storyline. I would still read another book by this author.

This book had a lot of promise. But I was not a huge fan of it. The female main character was very flat and no character or back bone. And I did not like the main guy in this book.

I definitely wanted this arc based on the cute cover, but the book left me a little unenthused. It’s hard to root for the FMC when she lets a weak man control her and walk all over her. It was just a little unbelievable I guess? I think there was a lot of potential if the relationship between the FMC and the boyfriend was tweaked a little bit and something else was used as the conflict besides him being a bag of trash. A pilot and flight attendant romance has SO MUCH POTENTIAL!

I was so excited about the premise of a flight attendant-pilot romance. But our main character Ruby was so unbearable in the first third of the book that I couldn't even finish it. She has no backbone and lets her boyfriend walk all over her, give her ultimatums, and consistently put her down. Like literally INSULTING her left and right! Sure, there could be a great character arc, but that can be done without crafting an insufferable character. I wanted to love this book so much, but unfortunately it just did not work for me.

She for the first time in their relationship doing what she really wishes and she is happy . When one of their training days she has panic attack the person who helps her is Milo the handsome captain . When an accident happens and she gets fired from her job Milo is there for her again .

Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe Books for providing this book, with my honest review below.

I’m a little conflicted about Love is in the Air. On one hand it’s a cute and funny romance book, following Ruby as she comes out of her shell and starts to realize her dreams. On the other it’s fairly basic and even for a light romantic comedy, which I expect to have often unbelievable plot progressions leading to the happy ending, this was a little too fantastical.

Ruby is a doormat with no self esteem and shallow but ultimately a good person. She is with her boyfriend Richie who is a straight slug but who she just doesn’t leave despite him being a little b in every way. When she finally gets her dream job for a small airline (because the shoes. That’s the main reason it’s been a dream, to start) she starts to make friends and even meets a too good to be real seeming guy in Milo, giving her a taste of how life can be without Richie as her Center. Ruby made me angry by continuing to stay with Richie but outside of that and her extremely low self esteem she was sweet and (perhaps inadvertently funny). The supporting characters were a little flat but rounded this book out well. The premise was great and I did wish it spent more time on hidden knowledge around being a flight attendant.

Outside of all that this is a book I’d pick up if you have the time and want to stay a bit on the surface. It could have been really great if only it didn’t bludgeon you with Ruby’s very low self worth (either lean in to how this occurred, and how she comes into her own in a more realistic way or keep it more subtle) and developed its secondary characters to be more realistic.

This book had a FMC with a horrible controlling and abusive boyfriend. She gets her dream job and yet she can’t enjoy it because of him. She meets a handsome pilot who sparks something in her she hasn’t felt in forever. She doesn’t understand what to do or what she wants. It’s a big struggle in the book. I think I enjoyed the characters but just didn’t feel as connected to them as I would like and I feel like the timing of things passing and not much progression of the story. There were moments I was smiling but then others when I needed more. Not a bad read but just not something that was obsessive or as drawing as I wished it was.

Unfortunately I was not able to connect with this book. Due to the characters and writing it was very difficult to get through.

This book was an easy book to read. I enjoyed the concept of it but also found it cringey at times. Still a fun read overall & would recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and Choc Lit for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.

Cringe worthy. I barely made it a third of the way through the book before stopping in disgust. Ruby is made out to be a stupid door mat who lets her Neanderthal boyfriend get away with the most ridiculous actions. The male airline employees were all sexist. This is supposed to be a "laugh out loud feel-good romantic comedy"?? Yikes.

I love that this is a READNOW option. I loved the air element romance and can’t wait to see how this story unfolds. Please bear with me as I’m catching up on reviews due to an unexpected hospitalization, but so far this one is shaping up to be a fantastic flight!
