Another scary book in the series. This time Billie Ann's family is being targeted by a deadly killer. The story is told with a "then and now" format with two stories that merge. This is classic Willow Rose story telling and the reader tries to anticipate how the two storylines are related.
But as it becomes clear that someone wants to hurt Billie Ann by targeting her family members, the search for the killer becomes even more urgent.
There is another storyline woven throughout this series - Billie Ann's personal awakening to her sexual orientation. It only adds to the stress in her life.
Willow Rose's lead characters lead busy lives, with their family, personal, and work issues piled on top of their job stresses. They have admirable qualities, almost super human at times, while also being very much like the rest of us.
This is the 3rd book in this series and they are defintely as gripping as the the previous 2.
Billie Ann is called to a scene to discover she knows the victim this in turn makes Billie Ann have to deal with family issues (as if she doesnt have enough) However she is trying to protect those she loves and will do whatever it takes. Another gripping read from Willow Rose looking forward to next. Thank you for advanced copy.
What it must feel like to be called to the scene where a child has been murdered. Then, to find out the child is someone she knows. Detective Billie Ann Wilde knows one thing for sure. She will figure out this nightmare and catch the person that did this..
The twists and turns in the story go on and on!
To sum it up, another great installment in the series. Though, I do have to say, I keep hoping I will warm up to Billie Ann’s character. She makes some really bad decisions in her family life and in her work life.
Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you Netgalley, Willow Rose and Bookouture for the eArc of In her Grave.
This is the 3rd book and the Detective Ann Wilde book and I would recommend reading these books in order if possible. There is an underlaying story of Detective Bille Ann Wildes which comes together more in this book which is part of the twists and the tension . Things have never been easy for Billie and it's about to get worse as she starts investigating a case of murdered children. If that isn't harrowing enough. she finds that one of them is her nephew. Because of the conflict of interest and emotions involved, Billie has to take a back seat and let her team work the case. Soon it is a race against time to save her own family.
What can I say about these books?! This series are the first books Ive read from Willow Rose and they are just page turners from beginning to end. I love Willows writing style, the way she builds her characters and tension with the cases that Detective Ann Wilde investigates. Each book in the series, draws Billie out, makes her human, you bond with her character.. She's a great Detective, who has had to pave a way through a predominately male workforce, deal with her own family life and be a good Mum. Yes, she makes some questionable decisions sometimes, but that makes her more human in my eyes. I love the plot twists in these books, the build of tension, the release as the twist unfolds, to then build again. This happens until you get to the final pay off. And it's so worth it.
Im so looking forward to the 4 and final instalment of the Detective Billie Ann Wilde book due out later in the year
A solid 5 stars
Detective Billie Ann Wilde #3
Rushing towards the tall trees in the distance, Detective Billie Ann Wilde can already hear the sobs of those gathered at the scene of the murder of a young child. And when she spots the little boy's pale skin and beautiful blonde ringlets, her heart catches in her chest. It's Billie's nephew Charlie whose life has been taken. Billie is immediately told she can't work on Charlie's case, but nothing will stop her from finding justice for her brother, Peter. Seeing Peter for the first time in years, he looks nothing like the happy-go-lucky teen she grew up with. She's shocked to the core when, with a trembling voice, he confesses to Charlie's murder. But Billie is determined to defend him, she knows he's not a killer.
This is an action-packed read that's filled with twists, shocks, and surprises. The story starts with Tommy and Charlie exploring a spooky Haunted Jail Trail. But one of the boys is murdered. The victim is Billie's nephew, Charlie. What a roller-coaster read this book was. I could not put the book sown. The story is told from multiple points of view. It's emotional and suspenseful.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #WillowRose for my ARC of #InHerGrave in exchange for an honest review.
"A killer lurking in the shadows. A detective who will do whatever it takes to protect her family…"
In Her Grave was an amazing addition to this series. In this one Detective Billie Ann Wilde is called in to investigate after a young boy is killed in a Halloween Maze but she finds out that it was her nephew and as other family members are hurt and Billie's children targeted she has to figure it out who has it in for her. This was a well written book with great characters and one that will have you on the edge of your seat till the end. The book has action, twist that you don't see coming and emotions are high in this page turning book. I highly enjoyed reading this one and recommend the book to anyone who loves a good mystery or thriller. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this wonderful read in exchange of my honest review of In Her Grave.
I am obsessed with Billie Jean Wilde. This book was just as action packed as the others. You won't be able to put it down! That ending!! The cliffhanger!! How could you do that to me! Now I'll be waiting for the next book.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc in exchange for an honest review!
Willow Rose does it again with book 3 of her Billie Ann Wilde series. This classic whodunit will have you guessing until the end!
++This review may contain some spoilers.++
I’m a big fan of Billie Ann and this series. I’ve read all the books so far. Billie Ann is a determined and tenacious character. However, In Her Grave by Willow Rose was a bit off for me. Every character had tears streaming down their faces or cheeks. I know there were a lot of emotions in this book, but it got to be a bit too much of the same emotion being described.
Also, when the culprit is revealed, that person comments about having nothing, but that is not true. The person had a family, money, a home, college, etc., and my reaction was, “Come on, that reasoning just doesn’t make sense as to why these things happened.”
Also, the police and Billie Ann made missteps; they got themselves into some stupid situations by not calling for backup when they knew it would be a volatile situation.
I also did not like the Betty character. Still, I believe readers are not supposed to like her much as she found excuses for her husband’s behavior because it would have been too painful for her to admit. She closed off all her family because of him. And other things, but I don't want to say too much so as not to reveal spoilers.
I also didn’t like the ending. The culprit again gets away, like when Betty and Travis disappear in the last book.
The story was good, but it became unbelievable when the details and why were revealed. I would still recommend this series and this book, and I hope the next one will be better.
#InHerGrave #NetGalley @Bookouture
Her book is full of action, twists we hadn't expected, and the emotions are high.
This tragic is close to her heart and home. One can't turn pages fast enough in this Billy Ann series.
I recommend this for readers.........Releases June 26
Given arc by Net Galley and Bookoutour for my voluntary review
Book 3 in the series. This author turns the psychological thumbscrews with relish. This great read spirals towards its dark conclusion, wrong footing the increasingly uneasy reader at every turn. This twisty detective mystery is jam-packed with tense moments and a growing sense of unease…..
Willow Rose is quickly becoming one of my most recommended authors after this series.
The 3rd in the Billie Wilde series did not disappoint and I've loved getting to know this character and growing with her, professionally and personally. The prologue has you hooked immediately and makes you want to keep moving right away.
I couldn't stop reading this one, along with the first two. The twists were twisting and my anxiety was at an all time high trying to keep up with this story.
I am sad to see her go but looking forward to more series by this author.
This is my third Willow Rose novel, and I eagerly anticipate each new release.
In “In Her Grave," Detective Billie Ann Wilde's story unfolds further as she grapples with the aftermath of coming out to her husband and filing for divorce. When a child is gruesomely killed in a seemingly safe place—the Halloween Corn Maze—with multiple witnesses, Detective Wilde is called to the scene. To her horror, she discovers that the victim is none other than her nephew, Charlie.
Due to the personal connection, Detective Wilde is removed from the case. However, when her brother Peter, Charlie's father, is arrested for the murder, she cannot sit idly by. Convinced of her brother's innocence, Detective Wilde continues to investigate despite being sidelined. As more attacks occur, she realizes that her family is being targeted, but the motive remains elusive.
The novel's narrative unfolds through various points of view, which may present a challenge for some readers. However, Willow Rose's skillful storytelling makes it necessary for the intricate storyline to unfold.
I found "In Her Grave" to be an enjoyable and brisk read. The short chapters kept me engaged and eager for more. The characters, with the exception of Joe, Billie Ann Wilde's ex-husband, were likable and well-developed. Billie Ann's unwavering determination in the face of adversity was particularly admirable. Additionally, delving into her past and relationship with her former partner added depth to the story.
The plot was emotional, suspenseful, and left me craving more. In comparison to the previous two books in the series, I found this one to be superior. However, the groundwork laid in the first two books is essential for understanding Detective Wilde's journey. Willow Rose skillfully sprinkled context clues throughout the narrative, subtly hinting at the identity of the killer. This allowed me to piece together the puzzle just before the revelation.
A massive thank you to Willow Rose, Bookouture, and NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Trigger warnings: kidnapping, homophobia, sexual assault, murder, drug use/addiction, and divorce.

In the first book in this series " Don’t Let Her Go" we learn that Billie Ann Wilde is not new to being a detective in Cocoa Beach, Florida.
Background: Billie Ann is a breast cancer survivor, she and Joe have been married for eighteen years, and they have three children. It
has taken Billie Ann four years to tell Joe that she is gay.
With tears in his eyes he tells her he loves her and wants the best for her. They decide they will try to live their normal life until they
can best deal with this situation.
However now that Billie Ann has been considering dating a gal she has known so some time, Joe has changed his thinking and is trying to get custody of their children Charlene- seventeen, William-fifteen, and Zack- ten claiming Billie Ann is an unfit mother.
Story starts when friends Tommy and Charlie go exploring in the spooky Haunted Jail Trail. Charlie was frightened but Tommy was having fun. The trail if full of the typical haunted house scary things- zombies, dead bodies, hooded figures jumping at you. However things turn all too real and one of the boys ends up murdered.
When Billie Ann enters the crime scene and sees the little boy’s body, real horror hits her as she knows it is her nephew, Charlie.
Billie is immediately told she can’t work on Charlie’s case; however nothing is going to stop her finding who did this. Her brother, Peter is questioned as it is his knife and his finger prints are on it. Under extensive questioning Peter confesses. Billie Ann is sure he is covering for someone.
Oh this is just the beginning!!! So much is going on in this story.
There is a side story of Travis and Betty I knew it was connected did know how.
Story left me a nervous wreck but I am also anxious for next in this series.
Willow Rose has written over 70 novels and although this was only my eighth- to me this was the BEST!
Want to thank NetGalley and Bookouture this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for June 26, 2024.
The Detective Billie Ann Wilde series is addictive - I have to keep on reading these books as everyone of them is connected but also has twists and turns that you don't see coming. Storylines that are woven together but I never guess how or that. The third book in this series is no different in the way it keeps you turning the pages and wanting to know more.
I can't wait to get my hands on book four especially after that epilogue.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
When a young boy is killed in a Halloween maze, detective Billie Ann Wilde is called in to investigate. She’s horrified to find that it is her nephew, the son of her estranged brother. When other family members are hurt and her own children targeted, Billie Ann tries to figure out who could have it in for her.
What I love most about this book and the whole series, is that the author is constantly building a bigger picture. Links to the past are slowly revealed.
The story is told in present day via Billie Ann. We also hear about past events from Betty. Once happy in her marriage to Travis, but also having her doubts.
With alternative chapters, the tale is slowly built up. With some shocking reveals this was a really strong storyline. Best of all the cliffhanger ending promises (I hope) more to come in the series!
Bam! This book is full of action and suspense, but also with a lot or raw emotions.
The author had me falling from one surprise into an other and she kept on piling up the twists and revelatins.
It was like sitting on a roller coaster, but only going up and up. There was never a dull moment, nor a moment you could take a breath. The pace of the book swept me up and never let me go. I was gasping. I was flabbergasted. I was shocked. I was devastated. I felt love. I felt loss.
Like I said in my previous review, I thought it would be difficult to surpass the high level of entertainment with book two, but the author did it. And now she does it again.
She gained a place on my list of top authors with the first book in this series and there is no way she will lose that spot any time soon.
I loved every word in this book. 5 stars
Thank you
