TLDR: An absolutely fab paranormal urban fantasy full of spice, suspense and a serial killer - what more could you ask for? Definitely recommend Shadowed Moonlight and will definitely read Harper’s last book and follow her from here on!
| 4.5*
I absolutely devoured Shadowed Moonlight in less than a day and also found myself a new author to follow! It’s a fast-paced, easy to digest story that will keep you hooked until the very end and leave you wanting more.
I don’t want to give too much away so I’ll just say that there really wasn’t much I disliked and it would have been a solid 5* book for me if it wasn’t for the “no/ dubious consent” at the start. Especially considering the breakdown that follows after one of the sex scenes. Think it could have been written a bit better, unless that was the author's intention.
The only other gripe I have is when the “truth” comes out, given the sheer amount of trauma that our MC went through, I expected there would have been a bit more of a progression in the relationship and not just a straight to love/ all is forgiven stance. Especially as Kane made some terrible choices not to tell Briar things and still feel like he’s to blame to a degree.
Those two issues were what knocked Shadowed Moonlight of a 5* review but I still whole-heartedly recommend it and will be eagerly awaiting the next instalment and keeping an eye on Harper’s future books!
Shadowed moonlight pulls through at the very end. A twisty-turny book that whiplashes the reader into never sitting still. All my little grievances (one note villains and characterisations, inconsistencies within the world (a wolf can smell a lie through blood pressure but can't sniff out certain things that I can't reveal because it's too spoilery), become semi explained by the end through the plot, which made for a better read. The best part of the book was the relationship aspect. The angst is the highlight.
"Shadowed Moonlight" by K.C. Harper is a captivating urban fantasy that balances romance and suspense effortlessly. Briar Stone's quest through a supernatural realm of danger, tangled emotions, and unanswered questions is both thrilling and addictive. With its engaging characters and vivid world-building, this fast-paced novel guarantees an exciting read for lovers of paranormal romance.
Lovely read for me. I rated it 4 stars. The plot is amazing and I recommend everyone to read this book asap. Lovely story.

It's been awhile since I finished a book in less than a day...
Oh how I've missed reading paranormal urban fantasy!
Shadowed Moonlight is a fast paced and highly entertaining read. Second chance romance at its finest. It was sexy and fun. The characters are quirky and lovable. (Lis has got to be my favorite for giving out the most perfect and smart advice. You'll know what I'm talking about when you read the book...)
Plot wise, I feel like something is missing. (Although that's probably because this one's going to be a trilogy?) I'm still a little confused as to how what's-his-name was able to do what he did on that scale. I'm still not a fan of Mason. Is there something else going on with Theo? And is there something BIG about Briar we still don't know? Or Kane? I have SO MANY QUESTIONS.
I can't end this review without mentioning the sexy Alpha were who has officially stolen my heart. Kane Slade, ladies and gentlemen. I'm just gonna say I won't be opposed if book two is sexier and smuttier. Just sayin'. Lol
Shadowed Moonlight is an urban romantasy filled with Witches, Weres and Vampires, an incredibly hot alpha, fake dating, a smattering of spice, oh and don't forget the Supernatural Serial Killer!
It's a fast paced, high stakes read, that sinks its fangs in from the very beginning.
It's addictive, so get ready to Wolf it down 😜
The characters, Ladies and Gentlemen let me introduce you to your soon to be new obsession, the delectable swoon-worthy Kane 'Come near her and I'll rip your throat out' Slade, who I guarantee is the purrfect Book Boyfriend material.
Briar is the queen of Snark and Sarcasm, her hurt is palpable and her growth through the story was brilliant as she finds herself and her strength.
My oh my the chemistry between them is off the charts, Mr. Wolfy Mcwolferson scores big on the swoon factor and spice!
Loving Kane nearly destroyed Briar once; now that he's Alpha, he could be her end.
Briar Stone has rebuilt her life after she was heartbroken and abandoned by her Were partner Kane, four years ago. She's got a job at a supernatural tavern, a Magi boyfriend, Mason, and a side-gig reading auras. But none of that matters while her younger brother is addicted to Vamp venom and a few doses away from death.
When a series of brutal murders target the city of Cambria, the supernatural conclave is sent in to track the serial killer and find answers. Briar can inhabit the dead's final, painful moments and will provide them with answers..in return for the cash to afford a cure for her brother. But first she needs a way into the conclave, her in: her Ex, now the Alpha. He agrees to give her access IF she acts as his mate during the investigation, with all that it entails.
Surrounded by the Were she once hoped to call family, Briar finds herself dragged into Kane's world of sex, danger and supernatural politics.
She has to fight her treacherous heart and the growing connection to the lover who ruined her life. Remembering she's there only to help her brother, she has a new life, a new boyfriend waiting after she's found the serial killer.
But she's not the only one seeking answers. The Killer has his eyes on her, and he may be closer than she thinks.
I didn't know while reading it that it's part of a series so I was originally a bit miffed over the story feeling a little unresolved but it makes more sense now I know it's a series. I look forward to the sequel and seeing where the story and characters goes next.
Thank you Netgalley and Hodderscape for the eARC of Shadowed Moonlight by K.C. Harper.
Read this in one sitting, so good! As a genre, I’d say it’s an urban fantasy - we’ve got a modern world set up full of supernatural characters. There’s politics, family dynamics, but also friendships and the spiceeeee is very on point. And it’s also part of a three books series, so I can’t wait to see what else is going to happen!
