A timely, engaging adventure filled with adventure and mild peril. Fast-paced and fun with a real sense of adventure. I loved how true to life the children’s characters were with their strong sense of justice, passion for the environment and their loyalty to each other. I can’t wait to read more of their adventures.
A truly exciting adventure as the heroes go in search of their missing explorer mother. It features a really dastardly villain, who is pretending to be an 'Eco-warrior', whilst doing everything he can to make money out of endangered environments. This is an adventure full of danger and. high powered action, as the children search for their mother, whilst trying to stop the machinations of their foe.
This was a wonderful family adventure story with some great characters and really tense drama.
Flo and Joseph's mother is a famous explorer but one day they hear the news that she and her crew have gone missing. When Flo overhears a journalist reporting information that she knows is untrue, her suspicions that something dangerous is going on are raised and she is determined to investigate and find out the truth. Flo and Joseph are great characters, working really well together and supporting each other - it was lovely to read a book where siblings get on well with each other, especially reading about Flo supporting Joseph when he struggles with anxiety.
The adventure was fast paced and exciting and there was lots to learn about conservation and the marine world. The villain was suitably scary and it wasn't always predictable what would happen next.
A really enjoyable book for a confident reader who loves adventure and the environment.

I loved The Wanderdays first adventure: Journey to Fantome Island, full of vivid descriptions, great characters, and a top secret operation.
Flo and Joseph are on a mission to save their mum who has disappeared whilst investigating Sir Frederick Titan who is not all he seems in protecting the environment. Can they find their mum? Can they unmask Sir Titan's crimes? Can they help save the planet?
Join the gang along with Isaac and Funmi to find out.
My 10 year daughter LOVED this book and is currently re-reading it.
It took her a little while to get to grips with the characters that is her only tiny criticism but once she did, she really enjoyed reading them.
She loved the different locations and how vividly they were described, She thought it was such a great and exciting read about and adventure and she's really hoping for and looking forward to, book two. She thinks girls and boys from age 8+ will love this book and its very easy to read but very hard to put down,. A big huge five stars from her.
We really enjoyed this exciting book about loyal adventurous siblings. The tale was well paced and suitable to be read by the whole family. Will be adding the book to our bookcase when it comes out.
A detailed, cinematic and vivid adventure story about two siblings and their operation to save their mum. Operation saving mum features a quartet of children, each having a different function/talent and representing values like caring for the environment, having a strong sense of fairness and justice, passion for your hobbies and interests, attention to details, solidarity, friendship, and loyalty (well, these last three are shared by all four of them).
I highly recommend this book to children who follow their interests deeply and passionately.
This is an enjoyable adventure with Flo and Joseph, siblings who are shocked to discover that their mother's latest exploration project is not at all what they had been told. In fact, she has been on a potentially dangerous expedition to dig up the dirt on Sir Frederick Titan, a famous personality masquerading as a champion of environmental causes.
Under the circumstances, her sudden disappearance seems deeply suspicious...
Accompanied by their friends Isaac and Funmi, the duo springs into action. Undeterred by the challenges of an underwater journey to a secret island, they head out with a map they have found to locate their missing mother. But will they reach Fantome Island in time to help her?
This is an engaging story which does an excellent job of raising concerns about state of the natural world, whilst incorporating all the information seamlessly into storytelling. With this book, Povey reaffirms her skills as an author. Recommended for the target age group. It gets 3.5 stars.
