This is a cute book about Taylor Swift. I really enjoyed reading it. As a fan of Taylor I thought it was cute. I recommend that her fans check this book out.
I approached “Taylor Swift is Life” with a mix of excitement and skepticism. It’s a deep dive into the phenomenon that is Taylor Swift, exploring her impact on fans and the music industry alike. While I can’t say it was the most groundbreaking read, it certainly had its moments.
The book captures the essence of Swift’s influence, from her catchy tunes to her savvy use of social media to connect with Swifties. As someone who appreciates the power of a good narrative, I found the anecdotes from fans and the analysis of her songwriting quite intriguing. It’s a testament to Swift’s ability to craft stories that resonate with so many.
However, I must admit, as someone who usually gets lost in the pages of fantasy and romance, “Taylor Swift is Life” didn’t quite hit the high notes I was hoping for. It was like listening to an album where you enjoy a few songs but skip the rest. The book is a decent read, especially for die-hard fans, but for me, it was a gentle reminder that not every book will sing to your soul.
In the end, “Taylor Swift is Life” is a solid tribute to an icon who has become a soundtrack to many lives, including occasionally mine. It’s a celebration of her journey and the magic she creates with her music, even if it doesn’t quite capture the full concert experience I’ve come to love in her albums.
"What did that emotion feel like when I wrote this song? And whatever the answer was determined what the track sounded like and what my vocals were supposed to sound like."
I loved the illustrations throughout the book's entirety. I already knew a lot of info in this book, but loved more of a deep dive. Would recommend to any Swiftie or to someone who wants to learn more about Taylor!
**Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for a review!
Thank you to Quarto Publishing & NetGalley for an ARC of this book, in exchange for my honest opinion.
I absolutely ADORED this book! As a diehard lifelong Swiftie, I have consumed soo many books on Taylor and this is by far the cutest one I’ve read.
It takes us through each of Taylor’s Eras and Albums (including TTPD which was so exciting to read about) and gives information and insight on each Era and what makes it special.
It skims the surface and provides a very basic timeline with background information on her life, and musical success. Which makes it a great read to include children on, because the writing isn’t too deep. And the illustrations in this book were the icing on top of the cake. So much detail and attention went into the illustrations that included so many outfits from the Eras tour.
Bottom line, if you are a Swiftie you need to add this beautiful book to your collection!!
Such an informative read. It does have most of the well known facts about Taylor, however it would have been better if it had some facts that only a small percentage of Swifties would know to make it just that little but more unique.
What a sweet book for any Swiftie. I’m not one, but my daughter and granddaughter are, even going to Las Vegas for the Era’s tour. I enjoyed the pieces about her life, although much is known and easily found. This book is very succinct and five details into all her albums, snippets of her loves and friends. I also think the artwork is perfectly matched to the book. Another great feature is the list of all her albums and songs and I found it particularly interesting that it details her muses for her songs as we know that all her albums are based on moments in time. At the end you will find her small piece of horoscope and then it goes through all the astrological signs as her fan. All in all, this is going to make a great gift for those swifties that want to collect memorabilia
Loved this book, adore taylor swift so the second i saw it had to read it!!! so much fun i love reading anything about taylor.
Thank you to the publisher for the early release! As a Taylor Swift superfan, I did not learn anything new, but I always love reading about Taylor.
A fun, upbeat, adorable book about Taylor Swift. I learned more than I ever thought I could about Taylor Swift, but it was a fun read! I loved the artwork, design, and flow.
What an absolutely cute book! The illitration is magnificent and beautiful. It reminds me of the old school Barbie met Taylor Swift! The content was so facinating, I actually learned a lot about Taylor Swift that I didn't even know. I am by no means a absolute die hard Swiftie but I do consider myself to be somewhat of one. I will most definitely be buying this book for my shelf as it is beautiful and so well written. I truly enjoyed myself reading this book! If you love Taylor Swift and want to learn more or even see if you know as much as this author, I would highly recommend this book!!! Thank you Netgalley and Kathleen Perricone for allowing me to read this book.
Taylor Swift is Life is a perfect book for Swifties as it chronicles her life in detail. My 11 year old daughter enjoyed this book and it was accessible and engaging for her too! The illustrations are well done and this was a departure from typical non fiction books with tons of glossy photographs. If you have a Swifitie in your life this will be a great gift!
It is interesting that it does not include her new album as it has been released and the book will be released July 16, 2024.
Thank you Net Galley, Kathleen Perricone and Quarto Publishing for the opportunity to preview this book and the opinions shared are my own.
I mean its fine, but I dont liek that it cant be read on my kindle, content wise, im not even a swiftie and I know everything in it, its less throough than a wikipedia page.
Loved this book! I learned so much and made me love Taylor even more than I already do. It is well organized and beautifully illustrated. Thanks NetGallery!
Great book for anyone interested in knowing more about Taylor Swift and her music! Pretty illustrations, and great behind the scenes information about her inspirations, writing sessions, tours, and her life. As someone who likes her music, but didn't know much about her, this was a great read!
Thank you Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – becker & mayer! | Epic Ink for the ARC!
A great insight into Taylor Swift, Wether you are an old fan, or a new fan, you will take something away from this book.
I don't consider myself a Swiftie but this book reinforces my belief that this fandom is a force for good. When the tour movie out, I paid extra to watch it at the theater and it was a fun show. Taylor writes about the human experience, and her lyrics are clever and resonate with a lot of people.
This book is very well written. The first section goes through her life story, which is surprisingly interesting. One section goes through each album, listing the tracks and different meanings behind certain songs and associations.
I also learned about more parts of the fandom, such as how Taylor took one fan's video and made it personal and popular, even meeting the fan. I also loved the illustrations, which looked like those cut out paper dolls I used to play with. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
I really enjoyed this fan guide! I'm a huge swiftie so I knew most of what was in this book already but it was so fun to go through it again. I do think it should be edited to include TTPD as the information in this guide is wrong seeing as it was written prior to the album release. Overall it was a great read for those who want to know more about Taylor Swift and her career. The illustrations were so cute and the flow of the guide was great, including the horoscopes at the end with your related song!
Such a cute read! I feel like this was the perfect book for Swifties who want to get to know Taylor Swift better.
I thought this was a really fun read and I loved the illustrations that were used. I haven't seen a book about Taylor Swift with this much detail but equally so concise. I liked the album by album section, it felt like a nice deep dive into each era and the context in which it was written.
I also enjoyed the star sign TS recommendation at the end, it would've been fun to see some more quizzes or interactive bits because sometimes I felt the momentum slowed especially since all the sections were so thorough.
Only other critique is that Matty Healy isn't mentioned in the TTPD album by album section and there's a lot on the internet suggesting a lot of those songs were written about him.
I'm not a Swiftie, but this was still an interesting read. I liked the illustrations. I found the stuff about star signs at the end a bit weird, but maybe I'm missing something since I'm not a Swiftie.
Absolutely adored this book! Perfect for any swiftie! Gorgeous illustrations and it’s a great way to discover Taylor’s journey.
