Having been on a bit of a contemporary sports romance binge I was excited to read Accidentally in Love with My Best Friend’s Brother, a sweet fake dating, best friend’s brother romance.

Brie and Josh have known each other since childhood when Brie moved next door to live with her aunt and uncle after her parents passed away. From a young age, she’s harboured a crush on Josh, even though he was always off-limits as her best friend’s brother. Talk about complicated feelings!

Fast forward to today: Josh is the pride of their small town, now a big-time NFL player. But things are tricky—his contract is at risk due to a not-so-great reputation. When a photo in the community gossip column Tea Time suggests they were caught kissing, chaos ensues! Josh’s agent seizes the moment, proposing a fake dating arrangement to help restore his reputation.

Brie reluctantly agrees, despite her growing feelings for Josh. But as they navigate this charade, their staged kisses start to feel all too real, leading them both to question whether their relationship is really just pretend.

New to me author from Netgalley. Started this at 1am and finished about 4am.
This was a really cute story. These two were so much fun to read and I loved how supportive his sister was.
Josh and Brianne (#Briosh) have known each other for years; since they were kids. Josh has always been super protective of his sister and also Brianne. It takes him 9 years after high school for him to really question his feelings toward Brianne. Now his agent will push those feelings even closer to the surface because he thinks they should fake date.
Brianne had a rough childhood so she never wants to be so close to someone and lose them again.
I loved how supportive his sister was and both of their families. Definitely a cute story and a wonderful happy ending. I loved how this author gave you everything you want at the end of a romance.

What in the small town fuckery is this lmao. Why was everyone absolutely invested in their relationship. It was entertaining though. This had by no means good writing and referring to Brie and Josh as the first and second half or brioche got old really quick, but there is a time and place for this book if you want a quick chill romance. It’s relatively fast paced and not that boring but it does get pretty repetitive and the third act break up is a little silly to me lol. Also the random mentioning of Brie’s parents being dead was always so sudden and jarring that it was funny and there was a little bit of possessiveness by Josh that did seem to borderline red flag or even patriarchal. Even Brie refers to it as ‘male ownership’ which isn’t a good sign. Everything else was just a good laugh with one of my favorite lines being ‘you’ve got it bad for little miss cheese’ which is just so funny. Anyways this book would be good if you want to turn off your brain for a few hours.

Thanks NetGalley for the arc.

A sweet football romance. Very cute rom com to pick up for your next vacation!

Would like to read more from this author.

I love rom com's especially spots rom coms, though football romances are about third on my list after hockey and baseball. But this one was cute and I enjoyed it. Even if it's not a favorite troupe. I look forward to more by this author.

I enjoyed reading this book, especially since we were able to see both perspectives. I love the fake dating trope and the idea of falling for a football player. However, the “scandal” at the end was solved quickly and didn’t seem right to me.

Accidentally in Love with my Best Friend's Brother has sweet, kisses only, best friend's brother, forced proximity, enemies to lovers, opposites attract, slow burn, and happily ever after. The story revolves around a protagonist who finds herself falling for her best friend’s brother, leading to a blend of romantic tension and personal dilemmas. Greyson’s writing captures the nuances of friendship and romance with warmth and humor.

This book was torture. It needs to be edited again.
This book had the opportunity to be a book set in the world Star’s Hollow aka Gilmore Girls.
This book had such a good start, then it crashed and burned. Since this is an ARC I think it still goes for another edit & it needs it. Typos, information left out, words repeated half a page down. It was bad.
Here are some things that drove me crazy.
Josh gets hurt & we never find out what injury he has. “it’s a good injury to have”. What the heck was the injury?
Josh & Brianne have to fake date because he has/had a temper on the field & it will make him look good to date the small-town girl next door? Wait a second…where is the back story with him being a bad boy. Sure, you find out about it later, but it would have helped to sell the whole “fake dating” scenario.
They go on a fake date, kiss & after the date ends & they are alone they BOTH say “that was probably the best date ive ever had and….” Josh end up saying it a couple more times. Okay Josh, we get it, “IT WAS THE BEST DATE EVER!”
The other issue & my main one was how they didn’t know they liked each other. I could go on about this one forever so I’ll just say this; It wasn’t believable.
This book deals with grief & the death of parents. I don’t think it was handled correctly. That could have been explored more as her grief became a reason why she never let anyone close to her. Fear of abandonment is a real thing. Finally at the end of the book she realizes that she loves Josh & doesn’t know how to let him in because she’s scared. Brianne decides to talk to someone & I thought “Finally, she’s going to see a therapist”. Nope, just her aunt. The character dealt with the lost of both of her parents without therapy. Granted its fiction but some respect for the seriousness of the loss of both of your parents at age 8 (I think) might be appreciated.
Something I really liked was the gossip column. Tea Time by Chamie was awesome. It reminded me of the Bridgerton’s, Lady Whistledown. I loved the Bridgerton’s so that gave me a laugh. I would’ve like to know who it was; I thought it was Susie.
For me the book was a 2 star.

I couldn't find it on Barnes and Noble, I put my review on Goodreads.

Book Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

Brie and Susie have been the best of friends from a young age. They have been there for each other through some of life’s hardest moments. But nothing prepared Brie for the moment her best friend’s brother, Josh, would ask her to enter into a fake relationship to help save his NFL career. Will Brie be able to juggle her friendship and ‘relationship’, or will things end badly on both fronts?

This was a cute story!!!

I loved being able to read a football romance that fit the clean/ closed door category (I have read other sport romances, but not one that centers around football).

My only complaint about this book is it was too short. I would have loved for it to be a bit longer to allow for more plot and character development. With that said, it is only because I enjoyed this story so much.

*If you are a fan of Gossip Girl, you will be especially pleased with this book! The mysterious Tea Time blog allowed for some extra fun moments!!!

Read this book if you are a fan of:
-Dual POVs
-Opposites attract
-Enemies to more
-Slow burn
-HEA

Special thanks to Netgalley and Abby Greyson for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

Honestly I’ve never read a brothers best friend trope and not fallen hard. Keeping this book around for awhile when I need a boost of leg kicking moments and laughs

I'm not a fan of "kisses only" clean romance. However, I was surprised with this book. I think the banter and the overarching relationship makes up for the lack of the natural continuation of Josh and Brie's relationship.

The writing in this book was pretty lackluster. It felt basic-even the names of the characters were very generic, While I enjoyed it, there are much better sports and brother's best friend romances out there.

I absolutely loved this book! It’s a dual POV which I like in a book , is the story of Brie and Josh a fun and adorable book you’ll want to read, they go from friends to lovers!

This was a fun and cute football romcom from Abby Greyson. This was my first of her books and was a bit difficult for me to get into at first, but the MCs definitely had me rooting for them big time by the end. I really enjoyed how wholesome this story was even though it included a tough theme (loss of parents). I definitely plan to check out more of Abby's books in the future!

Brianne...I love a bookish and nerdy MC (because those are two of my big-time characteristics). I also found her incredibly strong and loved that she teased Josh just as much as he picked on her.

Josh...I feel like this guy is the quintessential boy next door. Even though he had a bit of a bad boy reputation, he seemed all golden retriever to me. I enjoyed seeing him realize how he's always held a flame for Brie and then act on locking her down. I appreciate a guy who goes after what he wants, especially when it's the perfect girl for him!

Things I loved...Brie and Josh picking on one another incessantly, Susie (top tier bestie), Brie's aunt and uncle (who might be actual saints), the peeks into Brie's career as an elementary teacher, all the football references, the rest of the Mavericks (especially Adam), and the epilogue (so cute and different from any I've read recently).

⭐⭐⭐⭐
