Alex T Smith is a firm favourite in our house and we all love Claude, Mr Penguin, Winston and now Astrid. This series is perfect for younger readers wanting to delve into longer and more in-depth stories but still loving the illustrative side.
Astrid is a brilliant character who loves getting stuck in to her missions and helping her friends and her crew. The stories are imaginative and fun while providing readers with some inspiration to do good things for the world around them.
This is one series I recommend often and we rarely keep them on the shelves as children are drawn to the covers.
Me and my five year old greatly enjoyed the first book of this series, from one of our favourite authors, and couldn’t wait for the 2nd instalment so we’re very grateful to get to read it slightly early! This book certainly lived up to the first, it had the same fast paced nature and had my daughter roaring with laughter at tip toeing spaceships and wiggly bottom dances! Would definitely recommend this book and series to young readers, a lovely introduction to chapter books, still with plenty of illustrations too. Fingers crossed for more books from this series!
A classic Alex T Smith story absolutely jam-packed with adventure and fun. Perfect for adults to read aloud as a lot of the humour may go over young children’s heads.
Another cracking read from Alex T Smith. My class love his books and I'm certain will devour this one too. They love the mixture of characters and that they are always trying to earn the next star for their charts. The chapters are just long enough for story time or sharing at bedtime.
I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next one!
A really fun story with a quirky cast of characters. Read with my son who wishes to be a space cadet. An easy adventure to follow with great illustrations.
I was thrilled to see this on Netgalley and I’ve just blasted through it! The Space Cadets are back for even more fun - this time delivering an important parcel to an exciting competition… but not all goes right! Proper fun, made me chuckle and gorgeous illustrations!
My child and I devoured this book in one happy sitting, and will be reading it a couple of more times for sure.
This is the story of Astrid Atomic, who is a secret space cadet. She has a mission to complete before the upcoming Supersonic Saturn Spin Race. And the adventures begin! An extremely fun and fast-paced book, with the perfect rhythm, length, adventures, setting, character, puns and other jokes for children 5-10 and their families. Alex Smith is one of our favourite writers and his writing style always makes us enjoy his stories. The fonts, the overall design and the illustrations in this book are wonderful too.
Have I already said Alex T. Smith never disappoints. Adorable book, characters, muffins, jokes. Loved it.
