"A Helping Hand for the Village Nurse" by Tilly Tennant and found it to be a heartwarming story about a nurse named Ottilie who faces a tragic life event and decides to start anew in a small village. The book beautifully portrays her journey, trials, and the sense of community she finds in the village. While I did feel frustrated at times with Ottilie's decisions, overall, I found the book to be a charming depiction of life in a small English village. I received an ARC of the audiobook from NetGalley and Bookouture Audio, and I must say that Katy Sobey's narration truly brought the village setting and Ottilie's compassionate nature to life.

Sweet and fun with a small town vibe. The narration was not my absolute favorite but felt fitting to the story.

What a fun small town rom com. Such a great light read. This was my first Tilly Tennant novel and I can't wait for the next one.

Among the emerald hills of the Lake District sits the village of Thimblebury and Wordsworth Cottage, its garden bursting with wildflowers. It is the perfect place for village nurse Ottilie to make her brave new start…

The comfort read of all comfort reads. This little gem was exactly what my soul ordered. It’s lovely when a book comes along when you need it. You know the big hug from the telly you get from Call The Midwife? Think of that and treble it. In fact Otillie sounded very much like Trixie to my ear.

Having lost her husband in the line of duty, nurse Otillie leaves Manchester behind for a fresh start as nurse at the GP practice in the little village of Thimblebury set remotely in The Lake District.

Otillie starts work immediately she arrives in Wordsworth Cottage (I KNOW, Right? 😍) getting acquainted with the locals, all of whom make it quite clear that she’ll need to fit in and work hard to replace the recently retired Gwen. Our girl Otillie wastes no time, winning the hearts of even the most stubborn of villagers, and is quickly embraced by the community, more so when disaster strikes and her beloved cottage is flooded, and it looks like the dream is over. Not in this village, not in their watch!

Katy Sobey has done a lovely job of the narration, her voice gave the perfect feel good sound to this lovely story.

Beam me up and transport me to this fictional village where everyone is good and kind and wholesome!

All the stars 🌟 for all the feels 😍

Thank you to NetaGallery for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Set in the serene village of Thimblebury, "A Helping Hand for the Village Nurse", the book follows nurse Ottilie as she navigates grief after the loss of her husband, community, and new beginnings. The novel beautifully portrays Ottilie's journey to healing, her connections with neighbors, and a romance with Heath, intertwining themes of love, resilience, and hope throughout. The book serves as a reminder of the enduring strength found in love and optimism when faced with life's trials.

I do wish there was a pinch of spice and/or a little more character development as I wasn’t fully sold on the love-story between Ottillie and Heath. The FMC was written without absolutely any character flaws (which kind of drove me a little mad) but overall I did very much enjoy this feel-good book!

A Helping Hand for the Village Nurse is available May 24th, 2024 & Happy Reading !

This second chance romance was so sweet and with a small town vibe. I felt like the author did a good job portraying grief while also trying to continue to live your life after loss. It's such a hard balance and I felt it was captured beautifully. I wish there had been more romance between the main characters but it was still cute
