The description of this book absolutely captivated my attention. "The sun is beginning to set as Margot watches the dive team haul the girl’s body from the lake, untangling the bag that had been used to weight it down among the rocks and the reeds. But it isn’t the cool evening air that chills Margot to the bone as the bag is opened up. It is the glimpse of its contents. The old toys. Margot’s toys."
A police office working multiple cases at one time, this is a first in a novel for me. This helped the story progress along as a life like thriller. I felt lost as I did not realize this was book two of the series. I will be doubling back to the first book, hoping to appreciate the plot of the second more.
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read this arc. All opinions are my own.

✨ Detective
✨ Family Drama
✨ Secrets
✨ The story evolves to Margot, a daughter of a serial killer who is now detective. Dreading the day that she will receive a call that her dad will talk to her and tell where and why she murdered those women.
✨ it also evolves on is she willing to cooperate with her dad to look for the victims for closure or it’s just a trap?
✨ Writing style was okay. I did not felt the connection of the main character. I think it’s just focus on her job more rather than ‘her ‘ being the daughter of the notions serial killer.
I think also that the ending was abit abrup, it feels like a cliffhanger is coming in together.
✨ Thankyou storm publishing for the copy of this book for a honest review.

A great book. I didn’t realised that this was the second book in this series. I really enjoyed it and will now be going back and reading the first instalment of the Margot Phalen series.
First book I have read of this and it won’t be the last poor Margot there is something fishy about her therapist - well written story line need to read book one and hope there will be a third book
I devoured this book! I read it one sitting, this is definitely a series that I’m going to be keeping up with and I can’t wait to read the next one. This author deserves a lot more acknowledgment!
Detective Margot Phalen has received a phone call , one she has spent years dreading ......... her
serial killer father wants her to visit him in jail . She would not normally see him but he has baited
the hook well with sharing one of his dark secrets - the secret of one of California's most infamous
missing person cases .
Pressure has been put on Margot not just be her own boss but also the FBI - they want the kudos
of solving this case no matter the impact on Margot , who has striven to put the past where it belongs
and create a new life for herself . Having been put on desk duty she has still managed to solve cases and
give victims families closure ........... one such case turns out to have been committed by her father but not
attributed to him previously - just how many more are still undiscovered .?
Margot must now decide if she is willing to fall into the blackhole of her father's past , can she survive
the emotional roller coaster dealing with him will cause her ?
It's only with the help of her partner , who knows who she really is , she feels able to get involved.
Their growing attraction and his support a safety net against her fathers machinations
This is an engrossing psychological thriller , fast paced , full of twists and turns - a real page turner !
This is an Author I will look out for in the future - she is now on my to be read Author list
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I was fortunate to receive a copy of this book via NetGalley; thank you!
I have never heard of this author before, but the cover and short description of the story really captivated me.
Wiley's writing style was very easy to read and I did enjoy this one; I sometimes felt there were too many issues going on.
The main storyline of Margot and her serial killer father is a great base to the story and one I will enjoy reading more of in the future.
I enjoyed that the story was always from Margot’s POV as with so much going on it could have been hard to follow, however Margot’s challenges for each situation kept the story together.
Thank You NetGalley for the ARC of Her Fathers Secrets by Kate Wiley in return for my honest review.
This is book 2 in the Margot Phalen series. I really enjoyed the first book so couldn’t wait to start reading this one and it certainly didn’t disappoint this is a really well written crime story and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
I love the unique take on the serial killer story through the eyes of a close family member, I was pulled into this book instantly and that ending was insane. This is a perfect mix of mystery/police procedural and I was desperate to know what happened. I loved the fact that Maggie felt like a real person and it was easy to feel for and her and the emotional rollercoaster she’s goes on throughout the story. The novel is fast-paced, and each chapter ends with a cliffhanger keeping the reader turning pages. I hadn’t read the first book in the series but I will definitely go back while I eagerly await the sequel.
Thank you NetGalley for this advance reader copy in exchange for my free and honest review. This author keeps raising the bar for a great novel, and this book does not disappoint. Fantastic follow-up to # 1 in this series, and I can’t wait for more!
After bingeing a bunch of romance books, I definitely was looking for a….pallet cleanser. Cue: HER FATHER’S SECRETS, the second book in the Margot Phalen series by Kate Wiley. Honestly, I couldn't flip the pages fast enough. It was exactly what I needed 👌🏼
There are so many mysteries and twists packed into this one—I was hooked until the last page! And that ending? Total cliffhanger! Now, I'm counting down the days till book 3! 👀
Thank you Netgalley for my arc!

Her Father’s Secret by Kate Wiley is another excellent book. Detective Margot Phalen and her team are back for book two in the series between Margot and fellow detective Wes. There is something simmering between them.
The story is about her serial killer father passing on titbits of information to Margot his daughter who is now a police detective. We find out more about Margot through her chats with her therapist. I The characters are strong and tough which is what you need for this to be able to work so well. The book is a dark psychological thriller which I highly recommend to those who love fast-paced, action-packed novels. I cannot wait to read more in this series. Thanks to NetGalley and to the publishers of this book for giving me a free advance copy of the book to preview and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a brilliant read, picking up on things left in book one and growing our main characters further. Really looking forward to book 3, this is a series I will definitely be keeping up with.
The second book is just as good as the first!
Detecting Margot Phalen is such a lovable character. From her broken history to her learning to manage two identities, to her awkwardness around her current (cute) partner.
The story continues on with her crime solving and her visits to her father. There are twists and turns, and yet another cliff hanger-esque ending!
This is one author I wish would type faster!
3.5* Decent intro, but I'm used to stronger female leads, so this disappointed a tad.
This was a decent intro to this author, but I was frustrated by the female lead bending to her boss's and the FBI's emotional blackmail and belittling of her. She'd had overcome so much, had done so much to change her life for the better and make a meaningful difference, so to see her at their mercy wasn't great. I wished she'd stood up for herself more.
What I did like is that she didn't let her dad make her cower. Yes, she had to play his game a little but it felt like she had the upper hand, especially where the tale paused - it felt like a pause, not the end, with the open-endedness. Hopefully it won't be long before the next one out, because this was worth a read, especially woth the potential for Margot to get stronger and stand her ground, and be recognised for her own merits, not her usefulness where her psychopath father is concerned.

This is my first book by Kate Wiley. Her writing style is solid and it kept me hooked from Chapter 1. I could vividly picture everything she was writing, and even got the creeps a few times. I'm kinda mad I'm just hearing about her now lol.
Margot is a strong FMC. She is juggling her personal life, her career as a homicide detective, and helping the FBI with her fathers serial killer case.
I'm mad I didn't read the first book, but I'm not upset I read this one.
4/5 stars. Would recommend it to a friend.
Her Father's secret was a very well written book, I loved the switching timelines. The character growth is done very well, and I am looking forward to reading more from this series. I also really like the cover!
I really enjoy Margot's story and feel like this series could end up being a movie. I really wanted more with her visits with her father, Ed though. I don't feel like there was enough of that! Of course, with the way it ends, I'm patiently waiting the next book in the series! I HAVE to know more!
I did t realise this was a follow up so read it as a standalone and omg! What have I been missing?! It's such a fresh take on the premise and it's amazingly well written. These characters are fleshed out amazingly well and Brough too life in vivid colour. I couldn't put it down and couldn't read it fast enough. I loved the suspense and its one of the few thrillers I've read that also has a really decent character development ad the story progresses. Amazing
This is an interesting take on a serial killer story - seen through the eyes of the daughter of one. Years of terrible memories and too many questions left unanswered make this a hard to put down mystery.
