This was my first book by Jeneva Rose.
The book is mysterious and had me gripped. Three siblings come together when their mother dies. The mother was trying to tell Beth something in her last breath, but couldn’t finish the sentence.
The siblings go through their mother’s items They find a set of video tapes.
This set about a set a questions trying to connect her findings, to get to the bottom of the mystery, buried secrets, truth and fathom what her mother was trying to say. Will definitely be reading more from Jeneva.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the arc.

This book kept my attention! I definitely didn’t see that ending coming! I wasn’t really sure what to think about that ending! There were definitely some good scenes in the book and ones that made you question what you had just read! This book would make an amazing movie if it was based on the book and not changed up. Stick to the book for the movie!

We may live and die with our mistakes, but the consequences linger. When three estranged siblings reunite following the death of their mother, they learn that not all secrets will stay buried. The story is told from the point of view of each of the siblings in the present, and their mother in the past and is full of lies, deception, miscommunication, rumours and secrets, making for a gripping page-turner.

Three siblings, Beth, Nicole, and Michael.
Beth, the one who stays around in their childhood home, caring for her ill mother.
Nicole, the lost one, was addicted to drugs and trying to get clean.
Michael, the successful one, who manage to leave their hometown and build a comfortable life working in the IT industry.

The three siblings gather as their mother passed away, the will was read, and each sibling gets a letter from their mother. While cleaning up the house, they found VHS tape from their childhood back in 1999 summer time, and they decided to watch them. The ugly truth comes up. It's a big bad secret!!

Well, I enjoyed this fast-paced domestic thriller. However, the plot, the culprit, are both really predictable, hence the 3 stars.

I absolutely love this book cover and I wish I was still young enough to spend all my money to own one…

Anyway this one is told from three siblings perspective in the present and mum Laura in the past; I loved the narrative voices, especially lead Beth. It was quirky and addictive and had my turning pages at the rate of knots. I liked the mystery and how it unfolded, the was good pace and while I did work parts out I still enjoyed staying with this one till the end.

With thanks to author #jenevarose @orionbooks and @netgalley for allowing me to read this one! Sorry my review is so late!

Awesome.
Beth's life hasn't worked out the way she planned. After her father walked out on their family with a note simply saying 'I'm sorry', she became obsessed with finding him. An obsession that destroyed her relationship with her husband and her daughter. She just has her dying mother left, Beth taking care of her as best she can until she breathes her final, shocking words: Still processing these words, Beth receives a surprise call to say her sister has been attacked and rushed to hospital. Soon after, she finds both estranged sister and brother moving back into the family home. She makes sure to lock her bedroom door at night. Her sister can't be trusted. Desperate to revisit happier memories, the siblings find themselves watching home videos of their childhood. It feels like a good idea, until the footage cuts to a dead girl in the woods at night, their father covered in blood, their mother's voice panicked. They'd love to believe it's fake, but they know the little girl in the video. It's their old neighbour, Emma Harper, who vanished in 1999. Burying their mother is already hard enough, but will Beth and her siblings survive the truth of what really happened to that little girl?
Thanks to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me an advance copy.

The book is mysterious and suspenseful. Two mysteries are interconnected in a strange way. Beth’s mother died and she was trying to tell her something in her last breath but couldn’t tell her. Beth’s father suddenly disappeared some years ago. No one really knows the reason behind his disappearance. The rest of the siblings arrive hearing the news of the ill health of their mother. But it’s too late until they arrive. Well in the past, in 1999, Emma Harper also disappeared. Beth is trying to connect the dots to get to the bottom of the mystery, buried secrets, truth and fathom what her mother was trying to say. The book was a bit twisted. I wasn’t expecting that ending. The book has alternating perspectives.

Thanks to the Author and Publisher.

Although very slow paced and not really a thriller, I can see this selling well as the author has a large following. It mostly kept my interest but I would've appreciated some twists and mis-directions along the way to make it fit the genre I was expecting.
Thank you for the arc.

This was my first book by Jeneva Rose but it won’t be my last. This book is everywhere right now and truly feels like it’s the book of the moment.

The story is told from 4 perspectives, with 1 of those perspectives being in the past. We follow 3 siblings Beth, Nicole & Michael as they reunite following their mother’s death at their childhood home.

We are treated to lots of twists and turns as the siblings begin to question their families role in a decades old missing child case. They begin to dig into the past to see whether this could be linked to their Father’s disappearance.

If you are looking for a thriller with mystery and complex family dynamics then this should be your next read. If you enjoy Claire Douglas, T M Logan and Lisa Jewell you’ll enjoy this.

This is the first book I've read by Jeneva Rose and I wasn't at all disappointed. Home is Where the Bodies Are is a fast-paced and suspenseful domestic thriller about family and hidden secrets. It was fast-paced, gripping, twisty, and had a satisfying ending. All the things I love in a thriller. I’ll definitely be given Jeneva Rose’s other books ago.

An excellent book that I couldn’t put down. Told from the viewpoints of three siblings after the death of their mum and also in the past from their mums viewpoint this book sucks the reader in and doesn’t let go. The twists when they come are completely unexpected.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC in return for my honest and unbiased opinion.

After the death of their mother, three siblings reunite in their small hometown. While sorting through her belongings, they discover a home movie. What starts as a nostalgic trip down memory lane takes a dramatic turn when they uncover additional footage that challenges everything they thought they knew about their childhood and their parents. As they grapple with the desire to uncover the truth, and simultaneously fear it, they slowly unravel the secrets of their past.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the brilliant dedication to the final page.

The story is primarily told from the perspectives of the three siblings, each with their own flaws. Much like the first part of How To Sell A Haunted House, it focuses on adult children navigating the complexities of their family dynamic following the loss of a parent.

Beth, the eldest, stayed in their small town to care for their mother. Nicole, the self-destructive middle child, struggles with addiction and was essentially written off. Michael, the youngest, is the success story who moved away and hasn’t returned since.

Each character is well-crafted and distinct, their lives unknowingly shaped by events from seven years earlier. It is only upon learning the truth that they realize how differently their lives could have turned out.

Although categorised as a thriller, I would describe it more as a mystery. This is not a criticism; the story is character-driven, with a strong focus on the siblings. Themes of guilt, redemption, addiction, love, and compassion are prominent. It’s not an edge-of-your-seat, white-knuckle ride, but a beautifully written exploration of what it means to be a family, warts and all.

A huge thanks to Orion, the author, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this book for review consideration.  All opinions are my own.

I was so happy to get an ARC of "Home Is Where the Bodies Are" by Jeneva Rose, thanks to NetGalley and Orion. As a fan of Jeneva and her husband (seriously follow them!) on TikTok.

The story centers on Beth, who’s been caring for her dying mother, while her brother Michael lives a wealthy life elsewhere, and their sister Nicole battles addiction. After their mother's death, they reunite and uncover a VHS tape that reveals a murder, shedding light on their father's mysterious disappearance years ago.

I enjoyed this book, it kept me engaged. The multiple POVs and well-written characters added layers to the story, making the sibling dynamics feel realistic and compelling.

The plot was gripping, with past and present timelines woven together seamlessly. The secrets, lies, and twists kept me turning the pages. The themes of grief, family conflict, and lost love added depth to the mystery.

Overall, "Home Is Where the Bodies Are" is a fantastic domestic thriller. It’s an easy read with plenty of suspense and emotional drama. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating whodunnit. Thanks again to NetGalley and Orion for the ARC.
