DreamTales sweeps readers into an adventure through the enchanting Rose Kingdom, where heroes rise to save the day. This children's picture book, inspired by the beloved Super Mario franchise, is a wonderful blend of whimsy and bravery. What I enjoyed most about DreamTales is its ability to transport readers to a world of imagination and excitement. The colorful illustrations and engaging storyline make it a joy to read, and the promise of a video game based on the book adds an extra layer of anticipation.

Hold onto your hats because DreamTales is about to whisk you away on an epic adventure like no other! 🌹✨ Picture this: a magical kingdom under threat, a brave hero, and a team ready to fight for what's right. But here's the kicker: this isn't just any ordinary picture book—it's inspired by none other than Super Mario himself! 🍄🌟 With vibrant illustrations and a storyline that'll keep you on the edge of your seat, DreamTales is a great read for anyone who loves a good adventure. Plus, rumor has it there's a video game in the works! So grab your controller and get ready to dive into the world of DreamTales—it's going to be a wild ride! 🎮🚀
The fact that the money made from selling this book is going into making a videogame was really intriguing to me and was the main reason I picked up this book. I was excited to see how the concept for a video game would translate into book form.
However the book as a standalone was not my cup of tea. The illustrations are done in a retro, video game style so are made up of pixels which works well for computer games but no so much for a book. The blurb for this book states that it is based off of Super Mario which feels like an understatement as this book essentially copies the plot of Mario. The characters have different names and are more diverse than the original Super Mario however it is very obvious who each character is meant to be. In this book we get a very brief introduction to the story which seemed like a strange choice. If this book is meant to get you invested in the concept and storyline of the video game, I would have thought it would be more beneficial to introduce more of the plot and provide background on the characters.
Overall this book wasn't for me as I didn't enjoy the art style and the brief glimpse of the plot that we do get wasn't original. However I do think people who are more into video games may find this book enjoyable and could become invested in its journey to becoming a video game.
