I was very excited to read this series, and I wasn’t disappointed. So glad I waited until I could binge all three books!
Nursing isn’t just a career for Darcy, it is a vocation, and she has wanted to be a nurse ever since she was a young child. She achieved this goal and was proud to get her nursing degree but lately she is wondering whether nursing really is for her. When the private nursing company she works for sends her and her colleague, Pippa, to a new patient to look after, Scarlett Hoffman, Darcy immediately feels uncomfortable with their initial visit to the patient’s home. She doesn’t know why but her gut is telling her to run far away from Scarlett and her, seemingly caring husband, Adrian. Scarlett is in bed a lot, appears extremely fragile and also says things to Darcy that make no sense, and Darcy can understand why it’s so hard for Adrian to care for Scarlett. Darcy tries to ignore her feelings and continues to care for Scarlett with Pippa. However late one night and unable to sleep she gets a strong urge to go and check on her patient. When she peeks through the windows of their home, she sees a woman who doesn’t seem ill at all, this is completely at odds with the Scarlett that Pippa and her nurse every day. Things begin to get strange for Darcy, people following her and horrifyingly, entering her house when she isn’t home. The police dismiss her concerns, but Darcy is terrified, and things don’t seem to add up anymore. Are these strange occurrences linked to her strange new patient or is it all just a coincidence? What is the family hiding and more importantly, should Darcy trust her instincts and run far away from this job and her bizarre patient?!
Well, this was one heck of a good read! I was completely captivated by the prologue and thought it was a really brilliant way to begin the story! I was already addicted by about 12% in and was finding it very difficult to put the book down to do my everyday chores. I did find myself sometimes screaming at Darcy’s actions, but I love a story that can bring out that emotion in me. I also found myself doubting Pippa’s motives and just before the magnificent twist halfway through, I had absolutely no idea where the plot was headed, which is always a great thing when reading any book. I can’t honestly say I did not see the twist coming but it was sooooo clever. I was also very impressed by Darcy’s investigation skills, if she wasn’t a nurse she definitely should have been something like a private investigator.
Ultimately this was a fantastic and brilliant really wild ride. I am so happy it is part of a three book series, as I am certainly not ready to say goodbye to Darcy just yet. I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers, it definitely deserves five stars, and I can’t wait to see what happens in book number two.
Thank you to NetGalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture for my advanced reading copy. Out now.
Daniel Hurst never, ever disappoints! This was a good and twist read and some of those twists I did not see coming! Can't wait for my next read by him, all of his books are on my TBR!

This was really good!! Kept me up really late reading and kept me guessing the entire time. I definitely want to read more by this author now. It had everything I'd want. Except the ending uuughhh it was not my favorite. But otherwise I loved everything else!
Thank you netgalley for the earc in exchange for an honest review
I thought this was a good book and was one that kept me on my toes. It wasn't my favorite ever but there was a lot about it I enjoyed. It has suspense and thrill and was a quick read!
Daniel Hurst is an automatic read for me. So it was no surprise for me that “The Perfect Nurse” was another 5 star book! Daniel Hurst just knows how to put twist after twist!
This book was clever in that at the beginning we know something bad happened, but we don't know what...all is revealed as we go along. The twist in this book is VERY unexpected, but in a way I liked it. I like being surprised. The writing was a bit simplistic for me, but it was still a decent thriller overall.
A rather unusual story that really grips. You have really no idea what exactly is happening and so you see keep reading and reading,
Very well written, tightly plotted and very enjoyable.
Would definitely recommend
My mind was blown at the end. Loved it. Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
I got halfway through, and it just couldn't keep my attention! I love thrillers but this wasn't it, but hopefully it works for others
Overall I enjoyed the book. I appreciated the character development, storyline and the authors attention to detail.
Phenomenal start to what I already know will be a fantastic series! Daniel Hurst is the king of plot twists and this book was full of them. I loved it and went right from the last page of this one to the first page of book 2, skipping a ton of books on my list to read because I need to know what happens next! 5 huge stars!!
This is one book I read and haven't stopped thinking about. You think you know someone or something but you don't. .
I have often wondered how people with some medical conditions navigate through life. How they go about it and have to struggle with normalcy and this book broke it down for me in a very vivid manner.
The importance of family, especially a family that cares and loves can not be overemphasized especially in the face of betrayals.
Was she really the perfect nurse? I am not sure you know what that word means. ;) Good story. Twisty. Dark. Made me glad I was not part of that family and happy to see there was another book around the corner.
Good book! Story follows a nurse in a strange situation who finds out she lost her memory and things aren’t what they seem. When her memory returns she finds she was better off before

♥︎ — first & foremost id like to say thank you to netgalley & daniel for allowing me to arc read this book in exchange for my honest review.
♥︎ — daniel hurst is a relatively new author to me. ive arc read two of his books now and they have both been absolutely amazing! they’re very easy to read, shocking and twisty.
♥︎ — this was a really fun read and I did love the medical thriller aspect of it. there are some elements which felt implausible, but if you get passed those it’s such a good book !!
I can’t tell too much about the book without giving it away, other than we know that something really bad happens. From there, there are a ton of twists and turns, some more believable than others. They all keep you guessing though!
3 Stars
The Perfect Nurse by Daniel Hurst was a fun little thriller, but it felt a bit exaggerated at times. Some of the plot twists were a bit over the top, which pulled me out of the story here and there.
That said, it was still an entertaining read, and I’d definitely be curious to see where the next book in the series goes. If you’re looking for something light and suspenseful, this might be worth a read.
This book has all of the mystery and plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat, but as a literary girl, I struggled with the spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. Hoping the editors fix this before the publishing date, this is going to be a great read!
I must say that halfway through this book, I was struggling to stay engaged with it, because it took a while to pick up, but once it started, boy did it start. The twists and turns keep you guessing, and I kept guessing wrong.
You follow Darcy, a private care nurse who specializes in memory loss. She is sent to the home of Scarlett and Adrian, but something feels off immediately, Darcy can’t quite place it, but something is wrong. As the story goes on, Darcy finds out that Scarlett is actually very healthy, and not sick, or confused at all.
Does this interest you? Pick up a copy on July 1st, 2024!
Thank you to NatGalley and the publishing team for sending me an early edition of this book, I enjoyed this so much!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The perfect nurse was a twisty #read albeit sometimes fairly predictable.
At times, I honestly thought the #book was not going to be for me, managing to be just one step ahead and guessing what was to come a beat to fast… although that being said it did not take it away from the great story telling.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of the main character Darcy, from the start… there was something about her I couldn’t put my finger on… something I just didn’t trust and my gut was right. Although I still wasn’t enthralled by her, by the ending I certainly found some connection to her especially as the twists kept rolling and I found myself unable to keep up, but also unable to stop myself from putting the book down.
I really enjoyed this read, and will definitely be #reading more books from this author!!
Firstly let me start by saying Daniel Hurst is a fantastic author who nails the Psychological thriller genre and he has done it once again with The Perfect Nurse.
I really enjoy Hurst's style of writing, he draws you right into the story keeping you on the edge of your seat with the story flowing wonderfully. I really struggled to put this one down.
Like Hurst's previous books The Perfect Nurse is full of brilliant twist and turns with one truly unpredictable twist that will leave you reeling. I loved the characters that were all well written & well developed, I particularly loved Darcy, she was a very complex character and witnessing her struggles, paranoia and fear made this a real page turner.
The Perfect Nurse was an addictive, dark & thrilling read, a must read for lovers of Psychological Thrillers.
