This book was clever in that at the beginning we know something bad happened, but we don't know what...all is revealed as we go along. The twist in this book is VERY unexpected, but in a way I liked it. I like being surprised. The writing was a bit simplistic for me, but it was still a decent thriller overall.

A rather unusual story that really grips. You have really no idea what exactly is happening and so you see keep reading and reading,
Very well written, tightly plotted and very enjoyable.
Would definitely recommend

I got halfway through, and it just couldn't keep my attention! I love thrillers but this wasn't it, but hopefully it works for others

Phenomenal start to what I already know will be a fantastic series! Daniel Hurst is the king of plot twists and this book was full of them. I loved it and went right from the last page of this one to the first page of book 2, skipping a ton of books on my list to read because I need to know what happens next! 5 huge stars!!

This is one book I read and haven't stopped thinking about. You think you know someone or something but you don't. .

I have often wondered how people with some medical conditions navigate through life. How they go about it and have to struggle with normalcy and this book broke it down for me in a very vivid manner.

The importance of family, especially a family that cares and loves can not be overemphasized especially in the face of betrayals.

Was she really the perfect nurse? I am not sure you know what that word means. ;) Good story. Twisty. Dark. Made me glad I was not part of that family and happy to see there was another book around the corner.

THE PERFECT NURSE • DANIEL HURST
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

♥︎ — first & foremost id like to say thank you to netgalley & daniel for allowing me to arc read this book in exchange for my honest review.

♥︎ — daniel hurst is a relatively new author to me. ive arc read two of his books now and they have both been absolutely amazing! they’re very easy to read, shocking and twisty.

♥︎ — this was a really fun read and I did love the medical thriller aspect of it. there are some elements which felt implausible, but if you get passed those it’s such a good book !!

I can’t tell too much about the book without giving it away, other than we know that something really bad happens. From there, there are a ton of twists and turns, some more believable than others. They all keep you guessing though!

3 Stars

The Perfect Nurse by Daniel Hurst was a fun little thriller, but it felt a bit exaggerated at times. Some of the plot twists were a bit over the top, which pulled me out of the story here and there.

That said, it was still an entertaining read, and I’d definitely be curious to see where the next book in the series goes. If you’re looking for something light and suspenseful, this might be worth a read.

This book has all of the mystery and plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat, but as a literary girl, I struggled with the spelling errors and grammatical mistakes. Hoping the editors fix this before the publishing date, this is going to be a great read!

I must say that halfway through this book, I was struggling to stay engaged with it, because it took a while to pick up, but once it started, boy did it start. The twists and turns keep you guessing, and I kept guessing wrong.

You follow Darcy, a private care nurse who specializes in memory loss. She is sent to the home of Scarlett and Adrian, but something feels off immediately, Darcy can’t quite place it, but something is wrong. As the story goes on, Darcy finds out that Scarlett is actually very healthy, and not sick, or confused at all.

Does this interest you? Pick up a copy on July 1st, 2024!

Thank you to NatGalley and the publishing team for sending me an early edition of this book, I enjoyed this so much!

#BookReview for #ThePerfectNurse by @dhurstbooks @bookouture with thanks to @NetGalley

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The perfect nurse was a twisty #read albeit sometimes fairly predictable.
At times, I honestly thought the #book was not going to be for me, managing to be just one step ahead and guessing what was to come a beat to fast… although that being said it did not take it away from the great story telling.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of the main character Darcy, from the start… there was something about her I couldn’t put my finger on… something I just didn’t trust and my gut was right. Although I still wasn’t enthralled by her, by the ending I certainly found some connection to her especially as the twists kept rolling and I found myself unable to keep up, but also unable to stop myself from putting the book down.

I really enjoyed this read, and will definitely be #reading more books from this author!!

Firstly let me start by saying Daniel Hurst is a fantastic author who nails the Psychological thriller genre and he has done it once again with The Perfect Nurse.
I really enjoy Hurst's style of writing, he draws you right into the story keeping you on the edge of your seat with the story flowing wonderfully. I really struggled to put this one down.

Like Hurst's previous books The Perfect Nurse is full of brilliant twist and turns with one truly unpredictable twist that will leave you reeling. I loved the characters that were all well written & well developed, I particularly loved Darcy, she was a very complex character and witnessing her struggles, paranoia and fear made this a real page turner.

The Perfect Nurse was an addictive, dark & thrilling read, a must read for lovers of Psychological Thrillers.

I wasn’t that enthusiastic about the twist in this book, it could be because the story was so slow and repetitive. The mystery part wasn’t that thrilling or surprising. It didn’t make me lose my shit at all! I was kinda hoping more from this one, from the title and blurb but alas! I tried to enjoy it but some parts just didn’t sit right with me and I’m actually bummed. Although the middle part managed to improve however that didn’t last long :(

The Perfect Nurse
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Author: Daniel Hurst

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Bookouture and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

Synopsis: My name is Darcy, I’m your nurse and I’m here to help you.’ I repeat the words I’ve said so many times. Except this time, I don’t mean it…

If you saw me walking down the street, you’d think I was pretty ordinary – I wear the typical crisp, white nursing uniform, my hands are scrubbed clean and you’d have no reason to believe I was anything other than a good citizen. A good nurse.

But looks can be deceiving. You shouldn’t trust me – because I don’t even know if I can trust myself.

Now I stare at the reflection in the mirror – dark smudges under my eyes and blood on my hands – listening for the sound of police sirens. Because the truth is I had to do something terrible. I broke all the rules a nurse should follow. I wanted someone gone so badly. And now they’re dead because of me.

I’m looking over my shoulder everywhere I go because I’m sure someone knows my secret. Then when my home is broken into I know one simple truth: this isn’t over yet… It’s only the beginning. The police are the least of my worries now. But to save myself, am I going to have to kill again?

My Thoughts: This is the first book in The Perfect Nurse series. This was an intense, compelling psychological thriller that definitely kept me on my toes! Hurst is a master storyteller and really has solidified himself in the thriller genre. The only thing you can always 100% expect is unpredictability. The story opens with a bang, Darcy has blood on her hands but she has no memory how it got there, only that she had to have done something terrible. Darcy and her best friend, Pippa, has an assignment to care for this wealthy woman who had a terrible fall and now suffers from memory loss. Darcy is intrigued on how her accident occurred and starts to slowly investigate. This is a slow burn that starts off slow but I promise you, it heats up fast.

The story is narrated by Darcy, in her POV. Darcy has always wanted to care for people, which is why nursing is her true calling and she excels in this role. Darcy is an unreliable narrator, yet you cannot help to want to connect with her. We have a few vital characters, Darcy and Pippa, and then the wealthy couple, Andrew and Scarlett, with a two other minor characters later in the story. The characters were well developed, were mysterious, secretive, and creatively curated. The author’s writing style was complex, twisty, suspenseful, and unpredictible. The author built up the characters in a slow burn manner, curating them throughout the storyline. The plot was delivered in layers. The detail of each twist was carefully crafted to deliver maximum shock value. The ending was perfect for this story. I will say a little disbelief will need to occur, but the best fiction books has us suspend belief to enjoy a roller coaster of twists. I am an avid reader of thriller and romance books. I can usually theorize what is going to happen and most of the time, I am close but I did not get it right in this storyline.

I love Hurst books and will go in blindly. I have found his books are best that way. This was compelling, captivating, gripping, and keeps on the edge of your seat. The second book in the series was just released and I cannot wait to red it (or more likely listen to it). The third book will be released at the end of the year. If you love Freida McFadden or Shari Lapena, you will love Daniel Hurst. Available on KU. I highly recommend picking up today! I also recommend picking up The Doctor’s Wife series, another set of unstoppable heart-pounding reading!

The book started off slow but then really picked up and I was obsessed! The twist in the middle totally shocked me and I didn't see it coming at all.

My first book my this author and I’m excited to read more! I would call this a popcorn thriller! I was entertained but it was a little over the top and kinda slow at some points.

This is the 1st book in the series. This one was unrealistic , but thats ok, I dont mind that. I did find that it dragged on a bit . The fact that I have read some of his books and loved them it didnt bother me at all.
