This is the first book I've read by Daniel Hurst and I really enjoyed it! I wasn't expecting any of the twists and each one kept me guessing and exceeded my expectations. I got through this very quickly as I was intrigued to find out more.
I will definitely pick up some more books by this author and glad to see The Perfect Nurse will be the first in a series. It will be interesting to see where Darcy goes next...
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture, for the opportunity to read this ARC.
Thankyou NetGalley for this ARC! 🥰
This is the 3rd Daniel Hurst book that I’ve read and he’s quickly become one of my favourite authors. This book is full of mystery and a bit tense at times. I didn’t see either of the twists coming and the one in the middle of the book had my jaw on the floor. Hurst gives me major McFadden vibes and I’m here for it. Highly recommend The Perfect Nurse and I can’t wait to read more of his books!
Ohhh!…. I really liked this one by Daniel Hurst. A very different storyline than his usual. A great, quick afternoon read. I flew through it!
Thank You to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Daniel Hurst for the opportunity to thoroughly enjoy this ARC.
4 ⭐️ - this might be my fav thriller i’ve read so far this year! ignore the synopsis, i really don’t think it accurately describes the book. this was sooooo good! i ate it up and could not put it down! i would rate it higher but i would say 63ish% to 78ish% it slowed down a bit, but other than that it was so good! highly recommend!
The Perfect Nurse was a quick read full of suspense and twist and turns. It was well written and I really enjoyed my time reading it. There were some aspects that had me questioning why the main character, Darcy, made some of the choices she had which at times pulled me out of the story but all in all, the plot and the twists and turns provided a great time and it was very entertaining. My rating for this book is 3.25 ⭐️ and I would definitely recommend it!
Thank you to Netgallery and Bookouture for an early release copy of The Perfect Nurse by Daniel Hurst, this book will be available for purchase on July first of 2024.
The Perfect Nurse does have a bit of a slow start until some interesting stuff happens but I enjoyed the pacing. There was enough mystery bits per chapter that kept me intrigued enough to not mind the somewhat slow pacing. The reveals here were surprising! I like the direction that the story went but there are a few things that bothered me.
I don’t usually mind first person perspectives but I didn’t particularly like this writing style, the characters feel a little bland and I struggled to connect/care for them. It was also annoying for characters to keep saying that Darcy is a “Damn good nurse” when she’s hardly doing the bare minimum.
For those of you who haven’t read anything by Hurst yet, let me just say that it’s smart to go in blind. You will be entertained, and the story will progress fast. In the perfect nurse we know from the beginning that something bad has happened, but it won’t become clear until the end of the book.
If you like twists, this one has a totally unpredictable one: I’m not sure if I bought it, but if you keep your rational mind silent, it didn’t matter much. The writing was a bit simplistic, with only the necessary details being shared, but it made the story flow effortlessly.
To conclude you’re getting a pretty entertaining book with a twist to remember.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
3.75/5..0⭐
It was kinda slow at first but the build up comes in, and then I can't stop reading.
The whole time I was reading this book, I think it's somehow comparable to the Korean Movie "Forgotten", just add family and medical drama, that's how this book felt like.
Not at all where I saw this going, interesting plot lines but felt a little forced at times.
Great pacing and quite well developed characters, although I would have preferred a few more changes in perspective rather than just all Darcy.
Maybe I'm being a little unfair as it's listed on GoodReads as #1, and I would be interested in learning more about Darcy when she was younger and what lead to the events of this book.
Interesting concept and it was well executed for the most part, with multi-threaded plot lines that were gradually revealed throughout. I'm looking forward to where this story goes and if it ends up being a 2 or 3 book series, I think it would make book 1 feel that little bit stronger as there was so much to unpack in a very short space of time.
This was a good thriller! There was a big twist I did not see coming, though it's a little out there and was abrupt. After that there were other twists that I did predict but was still good and entertaining nonetheless! Overall a good read.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
Daniel Hurst has done it again! The Perfect Nurse was so good! I could not put this book down! I loved all the twists in it! It’s the first book in this series and I can’t wait to read the second one, The Nurse’s Lie, coming out on August 1st! Loved this book! Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!
"The Perfect Nurse" by Daniel Hurst is an absolutely gripping and addictive read that I couldn't put down! The story of Darcy, a seemingly ordinary nurse with a dark secret, is a thrilling ride from start to finish. The author masterfully weaves a tale of suspense, deception, and moral ambiguity that kept me on the edge of my seat.
From the very first page, I was hooked by Darcy's chilling narrative. Her internal struggle and the haunting question of how far she's willing to go to protect herself make for a compelling and deeply psychological experience. The twists and turns are perfectly timed, making the plot both unpredictable and riveting.
Daniel Hurst does an excellent job of creating a tense atmosphere, with Darcy constantly looking over her shoulder and the palpable fear of being discovered. The writing is sharp, the pacing is flawless, and the characters are incredibly well-developed. I found myself sympathizing with Darcy despite her actions, which is a testament to the author's skill in creating complex, multi-dimensional characters.
"The Perfect Nurse" is a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers. It's a story that will keep you guessing until the very end and leave you wanting more. Five stars for this electrifying and unforgettable thriller! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Daniel Hurst has done it again! Although the synopsis might throw you off a bit, the book more than makes up for it.
The story follows two nurses, Darcy and Pippa, who get a new assignment to care for a wealthy man's wife. She’s had a nasty fall and now suffers from memory loss. But, as you can guess, nothing is as simple as it seems. Darcy soon becomes suspicious, and the intrigue begins!
The book starts a bit slow, but don't let that discourage you—it quickly picks up speed. The twist in the middle was so unexpected, it made my head snap up like I might get whiplash!
This is a great introduction to a new series, and I can’t wait for the next book. Big thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for giving me the chance to read and review this ARC.
Darcy and Pippa are nurses for the private sector, and they always puts their patients first. They take on a new client Adrian, a retired doctor whose wife Scarlett, a retired nurse needs looking after. She had an accident that caused her to have brain damage. So, she can’t remember her long term memory only the present. So, she needs daily care for her needs.
When they first meet the couple, Darcy senses that something is not right. So, she is on a mission to find out what it is.
In the meantime, she has problems of her own. She thinks someone is stalking her and she wakes up to find someone in her house.
Yet again, Daniel Hurst doesn’t disappoint with the Perfect Nurse the first book in an exciting new series from the author. At first, I must admit it was a slow burn for the first half of the book. But even so I couldn’t put it down. I thought I knew what direction this was heading, and I was surprised again with the author’s famous twist that it turned out to go in a completely different direction which was more intriguing then the first half. All in all, I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see how this series develops. 4 stars from me.
3.75⭐️ rounded up
Thankyou NetGalley and Bookoulture for this ARC
There isn’t too much I can say about this book without giving away the plot twists but if you are looking for a fast paced mystery with lots of twists and turns and a shocking ending then I definitely recommend this one.
This is my first Daniel Hurst book and I went into it really not knowing much about the story and I’m so glad I did as it really kept up the suspense whilst reading and I had no idea what was coming next. Can’t wait to read more of his books in the future.
Daniel Hurst does it again! I always love getting this author’s books because I know what I’m in for- a fast paced, twisty thriller with a shock ending. “The Perfect Nurse” is exactly what I signed up for, and I am ready for the sequel!
I won’t give much away, but I really enjoyed the first twist in this book. I had my suspicions and felt fulfilled when it was revealed. It was an enjoyable ride all the way through. My advice is go into this one without reading much about it, and suspend disbelief. This is a great beach read for the summer! Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book was definitely one that I could not put down. I even woke up in the middle of the night and ended up reading it for 2.5 more hours. From the very beginning, I was intrigued and questioning what possibly could go wrong. Darcy is a home health nurse who meets Adrian and his wife Scarlett. Scarlett had an accident and since then has had problems with memory, but Darcy believes there is more to it. Usually I am fairly good at figuring out what twists are coming, but I did not see these coming at all. The first one blew my mind. I had never read anything by this author, but see that changing in the future! Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Daniel Hurst for the ARC!
Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture, for an early release copy of Daniel Hurst's new thriller, The Perfect Nurse.
This wasn't my favorite so far by Mr Hurst, but it was still entertaining and kept me turning pages to see who was hiding what! Darcy is working as a nurse doing homecare in Chicago. Her latest patient is suffering from memory loss after a fall at her home. Immediately upon arrival at her new assignment, Darcy feels something is just not quite right with the couple or their home. When strange things begin happening at her home as well, she decides to dig a little deeper. Who has the secret? Why are they keeping it? The more Darcy uncovers, the worse. How far is she willing to go to be the perfect nurse? Once I figured out the first twist, I could kind of see where the end was going, and I was pretty close with my guess! Good, quick read.
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read the ARC of The Perfect Nurse.
Daniel Hurst has done it again. I could not put down this book and when I did, I thought about it until I was able to pick it back up again. This is a real page-turner with twists and turns you would never expect.
The book starts off with Darcy and Pippa, two nurses who are heading to take care of a new patient by the name of Scarlett. The book is told from the point of view of Darcy as she and Pippa start this new job/adventure together.
It looks like this book is part of a series and I can't wait for the next book to be released. I will clear my calendar for this one.
Publication date: July 1, 2024
Absolutely excellent! I have read lots of books by Daniel Hurst and loved them all, and this one certainly didn’t disappoint
