The Perfect Nurse by Daniel Hurst was a fast paced, dark, captivating psychological thriller that will keep you turning pages.
I thought this was an exciting and surprising end to what was a very suspenseful and intriguing story.
I can’t wait to open book two.

When Darcy takes a nursing job she has a strange feeling that the couple she meets is hiding something and she is determined to find out what. Her and her partner Pippa are looking after the wife of a man Darcy believes is hiding a secret, his wife has taken a terrible fall and now has brain damage and memory loss but was it an accident like he said. Things slowly begin to unravel and Darcy is in for the shock of her life.
The story begins slow and gradually unfolds into a page turning read with lots of twists you won't see come. I was a bit disappointed and confused by the ending of the story but it was still an interesting read.

Darcy Miller works for Crestbrook Nursing and Pippa Simpson is her fellow nurse. Today, they have a new patient, Scarlett Hoffman, who suffered a fall, hitting her head. After hospitalization and many tests, she is now home and needs to be monitored. It appears that her memory has been affected. Her husband, Adrian, was once a director at a large hospital. Scarlett used to be a nurse herself. Darcy and Pippa meet Scarlett and try to reassure her while taking her vitals. However, the woman goes from calm to wanting the nurses gone. She also appears to be afraid of her husband. Darcy is quite concerned about her and wonders if her husband is to blame for her fall.

Darcy feels unsafe in her home as she was awakened by an intruder in the middle of the night. When she called the police, they didn’t seem to believe her. Having trouble sleeping, she often takes sleeping pills.

This story seemed to be like a record that gets stuck in a spot and continues to be repetitive. It wasn’t until about three-quarters through the book that the clues started falling into place. Even with everything falling into place, I still can’t help but feel that this book was a bit of a struggle to get through. I do hope that future books by this author are better.

This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I will be sure to read many more.
This was such an easy and enjoyable read. I was sucked into to the story from the very beginning and couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happened next.

I really enjoyed the build up and the plot twists. I never saw them coming. Just when I thought I had things figured out, I couldn’t have been more wrong, and then that ending. I’m definitely ready for book two now.

If you enjoy psychological thrillers and thrillers, I highly recommend.

Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Happy Pub Day to one of the best thrillers I've read in awhile! 🎉 Being a nurse, I jumped at the chance to read this book, and it was so worth it. I rarely go into books blind, but I did with this one and it made it even more enjoyable. Almost every chapter ends on a cliffhanger, which I really enjoyed and kept me turning the pages. This book has so many twists, and I was shocked by every single one of them.

This is the perfect binge-worthy book to add to your summer reading list!

This has to be my favorite Daniel Hurst book to date. There are many twists and the pacing was amazing. There were so many things happening throughout the whole book that I could never find the right place to put it down, so I didn't, I read it in one sitting and was mind blown. I loved that nothing was as it seemed on the surface. Just when you thought you solved the mystery of Scarlet and Aidan, bam the story took a 360! I love this type of book. The characters all have secrets, even Darcy, but she is trying to untangle why she feels uneasy around Aidan and Scarlett. She feels they have something they are hiding and as the secrets unravel Darcy feels afraid for her life. This book begs for a sequel and a netflix series..

Another book by Mr. Hurst that I read in a couple of sittings. His books are so easy to read. I'm always impressed at the speed in which he puts them out. The Perfext Nurse is a really good read. I did find that the main twist was quite obvious but the story that unfolds after the reveal did keep me guessing. In typical fashion with Daniel's books I'm left wanting more. I'll look forward to the follow up.

Thank you so much NetGalley and Bookoutore for the ARC. Wow! This story is so bazarre it's almost unbelievable! When Scarlett revealed that Darcy is her daughter who had memory loss due to a brain injury I nearly fell off my chair in shock! It blew me away! I love how the author lets all the missing pieces fall into place with the flashbacks that Darcy has, so the reader isn't left wondering. I love the tension in the beginning, when Darcy meets her parents and she is immediately suspicious then it peaks when Darcy finds Adrian snooping in her house, then it reaches an even higher peak when Darcy gets her memory back about Melissa's death. I also love how the bond between Pippa and Darcy remains strong till the end. Excellent psychological thriller by Daniel Hurst!

Can Daniel Hurst even write a 'bad' book?!? I don't think so. I have read several of Daniel's books and each one of them has been a 5 star read for me.

Daniel has a way about his writing that sucks you into the story from the very first page. He has a way of making twists and turns that you don't see coming at all. Just when you think you have something figured out, it goes in the opposite direction. I love the mind games that his books play, and I always finish his books and think to myself 'well now what!'

This book is no exception. I gravitated to this book even more than his others as I work in the healthcare industry. The way this book had me guessing the entire way through the book was amazing.

If you are a fan of mysteries - you will enjoy this book. If you are a fan of psychological thrillers - you will enjoy this book.

10 out of 5 stars for me!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the book #ThePerfectNurse by #DanielHurst. I thoroughly enjoyed this book about a nurse named Darcy. It seems that she has done something bad. She has blood on her hands and is always watching over her shoulders. Now, she has started working for a wealthy couple taking care of the wife who was in an accident. Something doesn’t add up with this couple and she is determined to get to the bottom of it. On top of it all, someone is stalking her and has broken into her home. I would highly recommend this book!

I love all things Daniel Hurst and this one is no exception. It was a page turner that sucked me in from the first page. The characters were great and it was twisty and turner.

I should never be surprised at the mind games that Daniel Hurst plays with the reader, but once again I am sitting here stunned. I knew there was going to be something mysterious going on, but I never guessed where this book was headed.

Darcy and Pippa are home care nurses who have been assigned to care for a patient. Scarlett took a fall in her kitchen and has sustained brain damage. They set out to do what they are trained to do, but this is just the beginning. You just think you know what is going on, but boy, oh boy, you are about to be hooked and shocked in one fell swoop.

Looks can be deceiving, and you can never assume anything when you are reading a book written by Daniel Hurst. Hang on tight because the ride is about to get bumpy. I am sufficiently shocked, and impatiently waiting for the next book in this series.

Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Darcy has taken on a new assignment as a nurse for a patient suffering from memory issues. What begins as a seemingly straightforward job quickly becomes something far more complex as Darcy starts to suspect that she is being misled by the patient and her husband. Daniel Hurst skillfully builds an atmosphere of tension and mystery, drawing readers into Darcy's world.

Halfway through the book, a twist propels the story into a completely unexpected direction. This twist not only surprises but also infuses the narrative with action and urgency, transforming the novel into a high-stakes thriller. The shift is expertly handled, maintaining the suspense while introducing new layers of intrigue and danger.

This book is a strong, quick thriller that you will breeze through in one sitting. The pacing builds throughout the novel, and the writing is crisp and engaging. Whether you're a fan of psychological thrillers or action-packed mysteries, this novel offers a satisfying blend of both.

Thank you to Daniel Hurst, NetGalley, and Bookouture for the ARC.

Darcy is a nurse who has been assigned to a new patient with another nurse, Pippa. Something doesn't seem right about Scarlett and her husband Adrian. Darcy is not sure that Scarlett's fall was an accident so despite Pippa's advice on not pushing it, Darcy begins her own investigation that leads to something bigger than she could have imagined.

The story started somewhat slow for me but then the plot twist happens in the middle and it just speeds up through there leaving you not wanting to put the book down.

Thank you Negalley, the publisher and author for my ARC!

The Perfect Nurse was an excellent read and was gripping right from the very start, keeping me guessing the whole way through. It moved at a perfect pace that kept me invested throughout without ever getting bored of waiting for something to happen. The writing style made for a nice easy read that flowed well, and every chapter ended with me needing to read on. The plot was full of twists and turns and at no point did I successfully guess what was going to happen next, which is an instant positive for me. I finished the book within 24 hours which I think speaks for itself, I would highly recommend it!

Daniel Hurst proves once again why he's an auto read author for me. "The Perfect Nurse" did not disappoint. While initially slow to build momentum, the story quickly evolves into a whirlwind of plot twists and suspense that keeps readers on edge until the final page.

I went into the book blind and was pleasantly surprised by the story. However, this one has a slightly misleading synopsis so alter your expectations accordingly. The twists are so worth it!

"The Perfect Nurse" kept me engaged and kept me guessing until the end. The suspense built throughout the story and the ending left me reeling! 😱🤯

Overall, "The Perfect Nurse" is a quick yet engaging read, perfect for fans of psychological thrillers and suspenseful mysteries. Hurst's ability to deliver compelling twists earns this novel a solid 4-star rating, promising an entertaining escape into a world where nothing is as it seems. Thanks to Bookouture, NetGalley, and the author for this ARC. I cant wait to dive into the next book in the series!

The Perfect Nurse is a slow burn thriller. Things are revealed very slowly. Certain reactions to circumstances seemed unrealistic at the start but by the end, it all makes sense and comes together. There are so many turns throughout that I didn’t anticipate the big twist at all. I liked the way the action picked up at the end. I am thrilled that this is a series and book 2 will be out next month!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the eARC. This is the first book I have read by Daniel Hurst and it will not be the last! I give this book a solid 4 out of 5.
Darcy is a nurse working with her coworker Pippa with a company that does home nursing visits. They both see a new patient in a nice neighborhood. As soon as Darcy steps into the house she gets this weird feeling that she can't shake. Something is up with this couple. Is there abuse? Is this fraud? Is there something really medically wrong with this woman? Are they faking it? Darcy does everything she can to reveal the truth, but in doing so she reveals the truth and deep dark memories within her own life.

This book took me on a roller coaster for sure. The beginning was confusing in that I could not grasp the occupation of Darcy and Pippa. As the book went on I realized what was happening and why it was so vague. I enjoyed every reveal and suspense moment in this book. The parts where people were in her house when she was not there really got me. As a reader, I am like girl you need better locks on your doors and windows because it is one time too many! Even for her to have the guts to do her nightly walks even after the following. Wow! Couldn't have been me! One time too many, I will be in my house walking on a treadmill or something. Scary! I wish there was more of a closed loop on Eden and Darcy's relationship. It felt very open and questionable on whether their friendship was authentic as the other characters made it out to be.
