This was a really fun and informative book! First off the illustrations were absolutely stunning and definitely captured the essence of Autumn through the reds and yellows. I liked that the story seemed to flow very naturally whilst still being informational and it didn't feel like they were shoe horning facts in. The more fact based section at the end was interesting to read and I liked the formatting of this book as it didn't contain huge chunks of text so it felt a lot more digestible.
Overall this was a fun, beautifully illustrated book which succeeded in making me wish it was Autumn!
I tend to gravitate toward books for my children that focus on nature and study of the seasons. I own a copy of Winter Sleep from this series and I love it, so I was very excited to read and review a copy of this one about fall!
The educational content itself was presented nicely! The kids go out with their mama and while they explore on their walk, she answers their questions about what is happening around them. I thought it flowed naturally and felt like a conversation I would have with my own kids. It also includes more info in the back about the various plants, animals, and decomposers that experience changes during the fall. There is also a small section on things you can do to help the animals as they gather and prepare for winter. Overall, love this content!
I do want to point out (because I know a lot of people would want to know) that the parents in this book are a same sex couple. I understand representation but I don't think it was super necessary to include it in this book. There may be a lot of potential readers/buyers that would choose not to purchase based on this aspect alone (regardless if the nature content is wicked good).
Overall, the content is great and I would pick up a copy of it. But if two moms ain't your thing, this might bother ya.
We love reading about the changing seasons in my house. I thought Fall Feast had really beautiful illustrations and I enjoyed the story. The author did a great job balancing providing information and keeping the story moving. Really enjoyed the added information at the end of the book. We will definitely look for the other books in the series about seasons.
Fall Feast: Nature's Harvest was a wonderful look at the natural world in Fall. It follows 2 children and their mother exploring the park on a fall day. I loved that there was casual inclusion of LGBTQIA+ characters and that each critter and organism that was found was so well appreciated.
I would definitely recommend this one to anyone with young kiddos! It was a delightful read!
Thanks to NetGalley, Sean Taylor, Alex Morss, and Quarto Publishing for the chance to review
Step into the enchanting world of autumn with a delightful celebration of nature's bounty during the cooler months. Through the eyes of two young children and their mothers, young readers are taken on a journey through vibrant landscapes teeming with life and color. From the rustling of crunchy leaves to the sight of animals busily gathering food, the story beautifully captures the magic of fall.
As the children explore various habitats, they encounter a rich tapestry of plants and wildlife preparing for the colder months ahead. The author skillfully blend engaging storytelling with cute, captivating illustrations, inviting readers to immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of the season.
Moreover, the inclusion of a section at the end of the book that defines fall, fall colors, animals, and decomposers etc adds an educational element, enriching the reading experience and providing valuable insights for young learners. Fall Feast is not only an enchanting exploration of nature but also a valuable resource for fostering curiosity and understanding of the natural world. This charming book is sure to spark curiosity and appreciation for the changing seasons in readers of all ages.
Fall Feast gives out all the heartwarming, cozy vibes of the Autumn season. It's a feel-good story with lovely illustrations (although I was more impressed with the depiction of nature than those of the characters). I thought it was very interesting to add a detailed, informative part about plants and animals after the story. It's great to get into the spirit of the season and teach relevant info to kids.

Fall Feast is a beautiful children’s story full of fall knowledge and learning. This book is excellent for teaching a loved one about the different environmental changes that occur in fall, while keeping the story fun and exciting. I found myself, an adult, learning things I never knew about fall either!
Apart from the story, in the back of the book are a couple of pages explaining different decomposers, as well as fall concepts like migrating, plants dying for the winter, hibernation, etc. I found this knowledge to make the book fantastic for both younger audiences, and for older children who might want a deeper understanding of the information in the story.
Lastly, I want to applaud the author and the illustrators for their wonderful representation of a family with same-sex parents. I was happy to see a children’s book display LGBTQ+ families in such a normalized light. It was beautiful to see their happy family dynamic, just as that same happiness is commonly seen in children’s books with opposite-sex parents.
Thank you for this opportunity to read your book, I genuinely enjoyed it.
I wanted to read this because of the gorgeous colors but it ended up being a cute family story with a lot of nature facts. Win, win, win! The pictures were so bright and beautiful, just like you see in fall. It was fun reading about the family, and the kids who didn't want to go out in the cold or clean up today. Of course, once they were outside, they had a great time, and they got to learn a lot about how the world was changing with the season. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this
A Mother wants to take her children for a Fall walk through the park. The children are skeptical because it is no longer summer, but they agree. They find all kinds of exciting things in the park and learn new facts. I thought this book was cute and had good factual content. The illustrations were well done and drew the reader into the story. I feel this would be a good fit for 5-6 year old readers.
I really loved this book. It is one I would definitely buy for my own children. The story was really nice and I enjoyed the pictures. My favorite part was the last few pages that showcase animals and different things that you see during the fall season!
First the illustrations are gorgeous! Second, this was such an informative children's book. You get so much valuable information about autumn and nature around us. Absolutely adorable family book.
