This wasn’t to my taste to be honest. If it was a film, it would be a low budget Sunday afternoon, easy watch.
For me, I got quite annoyed with the repetition of words and phrases as if the writer had a set description that was copied and pasted. It is a very descriptive story - maybe too much, and the story is very “high level” - almost an overview - they wanted to find something that was hard to find and secret, and moments later they have!
The pictures at the start of each chapter were excellent though and did set the scene for what was about to happen.
My apologies again, this just wasn’t to my taste. If you enjoy fast paced, short adventure stories then this is perfect for you.
In the Shadow of the Black Serpent
"The Quiet Village" is a captivating novel that promises a thrilling return for a brilliant detective, Sarah Miller. The peaceful facade of her new life is shattered by a cryptic message, luring her back into the world of puzzles and adrenaline she once craved. With its evocative descriptions of the English countryside and hints of a dark mystery waiting to be unraveled, this book is a must-read for fans of suspenseful stories.
I will come back after completing the book to update the review, I am in the middle, very interesting
