Tropes: accidental pregnancy, cowboy romance, forced proximity, workplace romance, small town

Wow. This was genuinely so beautiful & I’m in love with Jax & Sasha FOR REAL. I loved their story and their chemistry so so much.

I’m such a huge fan of accidental pregnancy & this was no exception. The tension between these two was off the charts!!! Jax & Sasha were such raw characters- even with as short as this was(300ish pages) you got so much out of them. It was such a lovely progression for their story- I really have nothing else to say.

OH, AND I never turn down a cowboy who calls his lady “honey.”

Devney Perry has to put something in her books because once I picked this up it was like I couldn't stop reading, I didn't want to stop reading. I read this book in less than 24 hours and I already wish I could read it again for the first time.

I love the characters that Devney writes and the worlds that she creates. Haven River Ranch is one of my favorite fictional places and I really wish it was real so I could go and visit. I feel such a close connection to the characters of this book (and book 1) and it's probably because I see bits and pieces of myself in them.

I felt every emotion while reading this book. I cried, laughed, fist pumped the air, and wanted to scream! I can so see myself being best friends with Sasha. She is so funny and I love her sense of humor. Jax reminds me a lot of my significant other-- very loving and a worrier (even in instances he doesn't need to). I loved the "tell me a lie/ tell me a secret" aspect of the book, it pulled at my heart strings every time it was mentioned. Honestly, I cried so much and it's probably because I could feel the love radiating throughout the whole book no matter the scenario that was happening.

I could (and honestly will) talk about my love for these characters for the rest of my life. I will be telling all of my friends to read this, and even though accidental pregnancy isn't one of my favorite tropes in books -- Devney Perry will be the exception. I LOVE SASHA AND JAX.

This book is perfect for you if you love:
- accidental pregnancy
- forced proximity
- small town
- cowboy romance

One of most anticipated books of 2024!!!

I finished this on one sitting! Devney has a way of making you love her characters like no one else! I was so excited to know more about Jax, I loved him in Crossroads and just needed more of him.

This story was beautiful, mesmerizing, and sweet. The way Jax and Sasha met had me smiling like a crazy person. The tension had me falling off my bed, And when the most anticipated thing happened, I screamed! This book was everything. I cried, laughed, screamed, I went through every emotion possible! I am hoping a certain couple gets a book too!!!!

Thank you, Valentine PR & Devney Perry, for this ARC 💛

I knew I was going to love this because of Jax’s brief backstory in the first book, but wow, I had no idea I was going to love the female lead this much! I instantly loved Sasha for her sarcasm. She’s an ice queen. From the start of her chapters, I could feel her worry and dread—ANGST. And with her luck, I just want to give her a hug!
Jax’s patience as he slowly broke down Sasha’s walls was beautiful, especially with the whole “tell me a secret” and “tell me a lie.” It was so cute!
The scene setting was fantastic—it always makes me want to pack up and move to a ranch!

Arc review.

My eyes are wet with tears. I've been waiting for this book for so long, and for good reason!

Jax and Sasha captured my heart. At the beginning, I didn't understand Sasha's decision to stay away from Jax. It seemed as if he had somehow offended her, but that wasn't the case. In reality, Jax was simply watching her, and he was hurt by her rejection.

What happened later "accidentally" turned their lives upside down, but I liked the way they gradually got to know each other.
They did so for the sake of their future together, because they shared something important: their baby, Josephine.

Jack realized how important the name Josephine was to Sasha. He was always there for her, accompanied her to doctor's appointments and supported her at every step.
I love him for that, for being a true man and a strong support when he wasn't ready to become a father himself.

When they confessed their love for each other, I couldn't help but feel tears in my eyes. It was such a romantic moment.

I would also like to point out that I would love to read Eddie's book. This child deserves to be happy, and it seems to me that a book for Emery and Zach is also needed.

I absolutely loved this book.

Thanks a lot for the ARC!

Devney Perry's "Sunlight" continues the charming and heartwarming tradition of her Haven River Ranch series. This latest installment delivers a delightful blend of small-town romance, unexpected pregnancy, and sizzling chemistry between its endearing protagonists.

5/5 stars, absolutely no notes. Sun Light is a quick and satisfying read. Dress in your comfy cozies, grab something to drink, and settle in for a heartfelt small town romance. Sun Light is the second book in the River Haven series by Devney Perry. I absolutely loved Cross Roads, book one, and have been (not so)patiently awaiting the next installment. You may look at the advertised tropes:

Accidental pregnancy
Forced proximity
Workplace romance
Cowboy romance
Small town romance

And be like, sure fine, add it to the TBR. No no, stop what you’re doing, read book one and slide right into Sun Light. This little slice of Montana bundled up in a small town/cowboy package has all the tension and sweet moments to make you kick your feet and get all the feels for these two.

As always, Devney Perry delivers with wonderfully flawed characters. Both of these characters have a bit of a chip on their shoulders, but for valid reasons. I really just wanted to give both Sasha and Jax hugs for all that they had been through... while also wanting to shake Lily. IYKYK. These characters are unlike any other that I’ve experienced. They actually feel like real people. I choose to believe that a version of River Haven Ranch exists in real life. Sasha is your black cat. Incredibly good at her job, hardworking, and strong as hell. Jax has the reputation for being a bit of a playboy, but really, he hasn’t found anyone he’s wanted to build a life with. That is until Sasha came to town and caused an upset in the grocery store parking lot.

If you’ve read any of Devney Perry’s books, 1. You’ve got great taste. 2. You know she has a way of writing these books where there’s a certain something weaved amongst the storyline that you know is going to cause havoc. Sun Light is no different. But I refuse to give any details that would give away any spoilers.

Where do I start with my dislike of this book?

1. Eddie is in a camp. A camp that focuses heavily on wilderness therapy. How is this something that the author thought was appropriate? Are we not aware of stories of people who suffered there? Who died?!

And we just thought it was nice and dandy to include it in a romance book? Nah. That’s just gross.

2. The first time Jax and Sasha did the deed was after Sasha had been drinking. She said that she can get drunk after 2 glasses of champagne. She’s claims that she’s a lightweight. I don’t care if the author had to put in there that Sasha wasn’t drunk.
But she was inebriated enough that her entire behavior towards Jax changed and she became more open to him.
This is questionable consent at best.

This is a light romance…not a dark romance. I found that so icky.

Im so disappointed because I enjoyed the first one and liked reading how Indya revamped the ranch, but this second one had so many questionable bits that I hated it.

5 FREAKING STARS!!

*Small town Montana
*Cowboy Romance
*Accidental pregnancy
*Spice
*Found Family

I was so excited to go back to Haven River Ranch!!

After the death of her parents 10 years ago, life for has been anything but easy for Sasha. She takes a job at Haven River Ranch trying to outrun her life in California, needing a break and to save money. Alone and living in a rundown apartment, Sasha has mastered keeping secrets and wearing a brave face. An afternoon trip to the grocery store turns into a disaster when the owner accuses her of stealing a shopping cart. When someone steps in to defuse the situation, her eyes meet Jax Haven. After giving the owner his word, Jax helps Sasha walk her groceries home. Everything is going fine until she learns the name of the nice gentleman.

The next morning when she arrives for her first day of work, Sasha is stunned when she comes face to face with Jax again. As co-owner of the ranch, he is but isn't her boss. Sasha is determined to do her job while steering clear of Jax Haven. All goes well until a ranch BBQ after a few too many drinks and a ride home. Six weeks after the unforgettable night Sasha is surprised with two pink lines.

Oh. My. Goodness. This book! I loved every single page! I was cheering for these two the entire time. Sasha has carried a heavy load and Jax is her safe place to land. The push and pull, the angst, the unspoken words... I devoured it! I'm a sucker for accidental pregnancy and Sunlight was so beautifully written. I love the way Devney Perry writes a story, her spice is hands down.. the best!
Throughout Sunlight we get to catch up with West and Indya from Crossroads and their children. I will not be able to stop talking Sunlight!! Add it to your TBR immediately, it will release October 15th!!

If you are a fan of small town romance then this is the book for you! As always Devney Perry writes the small town Montana life so well that I want to pack up and move there. Accidentally pregnancy has never been my favorite but I loved this book! It was short enough that there was no extra fluff included. All of the time jumps kept the book moving along and kept me interested. I loved Sasha and Jax and they were the perfect pair.

Read if you like:
- small town romance
- accidental pregnancy
- found family

The way Devney writes the Montana setting always had me wanting to immediately sell everything and move to a ranch in Montana!

Jax and Sasha…. I loved their meet cute at the grocery store, and the way they dance around each other for months before finally giving in to their attraction, only to come toe to toe with an accidental pregnancy. The way they are able to slowly open up to each other about the hard parts of their past had me in tears throughout. There’s a subplot that had me guessing the whole entire book until we got answers towards the end, and the conclusion to that? …. also tears…. and the epilogue? …. you guessed it! …. more tears! There were so many minor subplots with side characters that I loved seeing glimpses of! I need Haven River Ranch to not be a fictional place, and I need to be able to move there and be friends with Jax & Sasha & West & Indya. I love them all so much!

I loved this! I’ve been excited for Jax’s story since Crossroads and this did not disappoint.

This is an accidental pregnancy romance between Jax, the younger Haven brother, and Sasha, the new-in-town employee of the Haven River Ranch. They have a bit of a bumpy start, but after a few drinks at a holiday party, they hook up and oops! She’s pregnant.

I loved how their tentative relationship unfolded, Jax was very into her but she took longer to warm up and I loved how carefully Jax brought down her walls.I love when it’s not all sunshine and roses and the two had a lot to work though. Both have complicated pasts

There are themes of redemption and forgiveness adding a somewhat sad tone to parts of this, but mostly it read like a really great contemporary cowboy romance.

Honestly this was a perfect book for me - you get some of my favorite tropes, a swoony cowboy, an “uptight” heroine, a good amount of steam, and a stunning setting. It was great to revisit the ranch and the Haven family and I’ve just really really enjoyed my time with this series.
