After reading Crossroads I was so excited to see Jax’s story! The little glimpses were not enough for me.
Overall I loved this storyline! Jax is a lover at heart and total golden retriever. I’m so happy that he weaseled his way into Sasha’s heart. Both of their back stories were heartbreaking to hear especially with losing parents and then a step parent not loving you. I was hesitant by the accidental pregnancy in this book but I think it was necessary. They were both struggling internally with different things and having this baby healed that in some ways. I’m always amazed with how Devney writes such captivating characters. Perfect mini series!
Sunlight by Devney Perry takes readers back to Montana's Haven River Ranch, where Indya Keller, who had vacationed at the ranch throughout her life, then purchased the rundown ranch from Curtis Haven without West or Jax's knowledge in her first book, Crossroads. Indya is now a mother of twins, Kade and Kohen, about five years old, and she is expecting again. This time, Indya is looking for a manager to run the lodge during her maternity leave. Sasha Vaughn comes from California and is the new manager at the lodge; she lives in a shabby apartment with neighbors who party, fight, and make up very loudly. Sasha's first introduction to Jax Haven is at the local supermarket, where she is trying to leave the premises with the cart, but the owner stops her. The chemistry is off the charts as Jax walks her home with the cart and returns it to the store. Jax thought it was going well until she turned him down for dinner.
The Haven family expands and accepts others into the folds, and secrets finally reveal themselves. I adore the small-town romance that Devney Perry writes.
Such a great read. I loved seeing Jax’s story and learning all about Sasha. I love a Devney book and this one did not disappoint.
If you love a good cowboy romance with workplace romance vibes, this one’s it!!
One of my favorite parts of being introduced to prospective love interests is their first meeting, and Sasha and Jax have a meet cure that leaves an undeniable impression. New to town and without transportation, Sasha is accused of attempting to steal a grocery cart from the local market (she was just borrowing it!), and in swoops Jax Haven to save the day with his good looks and effortless charm. *cue major swooning* The two strangers have an easy rapport along with an instant chemistry, but an unexpected connection between them puts a quick end to their would-be romance. But little does Jax know that the woman who piqued his interest is the new manager at Haven River Ranch, bringing them together in close quarters, thus putting Sasha on guard, and wary of potential scandal with her new employer…
Months of growing tension working alongside each other has created a dynamic between Jax and Sasha that’s equal parts attraction and antagonism, and it all comes to a head when one night of unparalleled passion results in unexpected consequences. With a baby on the way, the two have to put aside their differences to figure out their future, and whether or not that includes a potential romance between them.
Primarily a character-driven narrative, what makes Sunlight such a captivating, swoon-worthy read is the slow-building relationship between two such contrasting personalities. Jax is upfront, wearing his emotions on his sleeves, while Sasha is locked up tight, mysterious and guarded (even from readers), and reluctant to lower her defenses. The process of them opening up to each other, and chipping away at their emotional barriers is long and painstaking, and filled with obstacles, but their romance is so sweet and heartfelt (and steamy, let’s be honest) that you can’t help but root for them as a couple.
At its heart, Sunlight is a story about love and connection, whether romantic or familial. It’s about two individuals going through life, knowing there’s something essential that’s missing, and recognizing in each other the potential to fill in that missing puzzle piece, even if it means embarking on a new and unexpected journey. Sunlight is another must-read romance from Devney Perry, that’s impossible to put down once you get started, and I can’t recommend it enough!
Such a wonderful book in the series! I love Devney’s writing, always has a great pace, plot lines to that capture your heart and characters we can all relate to. I will keep recommending this series to everyone who will listen!
Sunlight is focused on Jax Haven and Sasha Vaughn. After a meet-cute when Jax helps Sasha with her groceries, she blows him off when he offers to take her to dinner, leaving him confused. The next morning he learns that she is the new manager of the resort.
I am such a fan of Sasha and Jax's romance! Sasha initially hates the extreme weather in Montana until Jax starts to show her beautiful places and how to survive a Montana winter and summer. She moves into a small house Jax renovated after her crappy apartment in town had a lot of maintenance problems, including obnoxious neighbors.
Jax and Sasha are strongly attracted to each other and over time Sasha gives into her feelings for Jax the more time she spends with him.
I just want to start this by saying Devney Perry knows how to write a fantastic cowboy romance.
I was so elated to return back to Haven River Ranch, I wish I could join their little slice of heaven. I was even more excited to read Jax’s story, the little snippets that were taken from Crossroads had me super intrigued to know more about the swoon worthy cowboy. Sasha, the FMC, was such a convoluted character, Perry touched upon some tricky subject but handled them with so much grace. Sasha’s character development is something other authors should aspire to achieve - it was perfectly executed.
The pregnancy trope, mm, not my favourite but I will give Perry this, she wrote it well, handled the unexpected situation delicately and in a realistic manner.
If you’re after a cowboy to swoon over, a woman to relate too & a book that will be unable to put down. This is your book!
Sunlight will be released October 15 & available on Kindle Unlimited ! Lastly, thank you to Valentine PR and of course Devney Perry for the ARC!

What to expect:
🐎 Cowboy/ranch romance
🤫 Secrets
🐣 Accidental pregnancy
🏘️ Forced proximity
Sacha and Jax's meet cute may have ended up as more if it wasn't for Sacha coming to town to help Haven River Ranch as manager and sort of becoming Jax's employee.
After months of not talking to each other, one drunken night ends up in an unexpected pregnancy and they are forced to cohabit.
But the two of them hold on to many secrets they could ruin them before they have even started...
__________
I loved Jax and Sacha's relationship once they started to agree on letting the other in. It was definitely a slow burn because they are strong headed and because of their lack of communication.
Though they do manage to communicate through the secrets and lies game and it is the cutest thing 💕
They both have fears and secrets that don't help them open up and I wanted to shout at them a lot in the first half of the story but I loved the way things ended and am now very excited for two other characters to hopefully get their own story 🤞🏻

i was so excited to be back at haven river ranch with these characters because I absolutely LOVED crossroads and this one has definitely become a favourite too but I’m not surprised since I always devour anything Devney writes.
I just adored Jax and Sasha, I loved how they met and all the tension and their banter. Being back in this world was everything.

jax haven is a new favorite. the way he is so patient and loving and understanding with sasha. the way he is such a loyal friend to those around him. the way this man just cares.
i love this book so much. it was exactly what i needed. a heroine with a mysterious past. a cowboy that can rock a baseball hat or a cowboy hat and is so down bad for the fmc.
is it too soon for a reread?

Oh, my heart, what a beautiful read! This small-town, surprise pregnancy romance had me hooked from the start. Sasha is strong but guarded, while Jax is the kind of hero you fall for instantly—charming, protective, and patient. Their chemistry is undeniable, and watching Sasha slowly let Jax in was so satisfying. Jax is all in from the beginning, especially when their world gets flipped upside down by a surprise pregnancy. He steps up in the best way possible.
This story has the perfect mix of heart, humor, and heat—classic Devney Perry!

I always thought I couldn’t love anyone more than Indya and West from the first book, but now that I’ve wrapped up Sunlight, the second installment in the Haven River Ranch series, I’m feeling so torn! I absolutely adored Sasha and Jax! Their chemistry was off the charts, and I felt a strong connection with them, particularly regarding the surprise pregnancy, as I’ve had a similar experience—just without the cowboy. Sorry, babe! I’m totally enchanted by everything Montana, sexy cowboys, and I’ll continue to live vicariously through Deveny’s characters as long as she keeps writing them!
"I love you. Even when you’re mad at me, even when I’m mad at you, I love you. And I miss you. Every day, I miss you."
Jax and Sasha.
Love Devney Perry! She is one of my fave go-to authors. This new series is gearing to be another hit that's for sure.
This is the second book of the Haven River Ranch, and follows Jax and Sasha. Jax helps with tour activities in around the ranch and is West's half brother. Sasha is a transfer from California and currently works as ranch manager or something like that. These two are as opposite as it gets but sometimes life plays you funny like that.
I enjoyed the book from beginning to end. It's a surprise pregnancy and enemies to lovers book... It took me a while to warm up to Sasha because she's frustrating and all but alls well that ends well...
Its angsty, s3xy, heartwarming and swoon-worthy.
The return to Haven River Ranch is finally here and it was everything I needed! But first things first, am I actually a fan of the accidental pregnancy trope? This is probably the third book I’ve read with that trope lately and I’ve been eating it up!
Sasha and Jax were total opposites. Their relationship was the epitome of golden retriever and black cat vibes. I loved them together and I loved their banter. The mutual pining and forced proximity was fantastic.
I thought this book was so well done and I swear if Devney writes it, I’m gonna read it.
"Sunlight," book two in Devney Perry's Haven River Ranch series, weaves a heartwarming tale set in a small town in Montanna. The novel's blend of an accidental pregnancy plot with the dynamics of forced proximity, delivered a mix of cheerfulness and depth of emotion, that promises to keep readers engrossed in the unfolding story and intimately connected with the characters' lives.
"Sunlight" delivers the captivating tale of Jax, the younger brother of West Haven who appeared in Crossroads. While it's the second installment in the series, it works well as a standalone.
From the moment Jax met Sasha, he was taken aback by the profound effect she had on him. Their initial encounter resulted in charming and flirtatious exchanges that had the reading grinning from ear to ear. The playful banter continued until Sasha realized she would be working closely with Jax, which led her to abruptly ending their light-hearted exchanges. Immediately, she erected walls, that presented a challenge for Jax to overcome. Despite her efforts to maintain a professional distance, the attraction between them was undeniable. Eventually, a relaxed evening out and a couple of drinks led to a night filled with passionate intensity, leaving them with an unforeseen consequence: pregnancy.
Sasha has made a firm decision to distance herself from everyone, including Jax. It's admirable that he chose not to pressure her and respected her boundaries. Yet, this doesn't imply that he gave upon her. He's consistently present, supporting her at every turn, even when she believes she doesn't need him.
As the story unfolds, Sasha's secrets come to light, revealing the myriad of struggles she faces. The plot thickens with a mysterious figure from her past. While my theories about this person were completely wrong, the unraveling of this mystery was fascinating. Emotions run deep in this part of the story, with Sasha's anguish so vivid, it's easy for readers to feel empathy towards her.
Jax and Sasha's chemistry is undeniable, creating a delightful duo. Their exchanges are so engaging they'll leave you with a smile on your face. The inclusion of secondary characters added depth to the story, enhancing the reading experience.
For those in search of a heartwarming romance, this one is sure to delight. It's a feel-good story that I thoroughly enjoyed and would happily recommend to fellow readers.
I have listened to Ava Erickson several times, but this is my first experience with Stephen Dexter. The chemistry between these two narrators is undeniable! I enjoyed their performance and look forward to more collaboration between these two. Stephen brought the character of Jax to life in a way that's hard to resist. Meanwhile, Ava lends her voice to Sasha, embodying the character's vulnerability with such finesse that it becomes a highlight of her performance. Together, they elevate the audiobook to a wonderful level of storytelling. It's simply beautiful.
Thank you Valentine PR and Devney Perry for my gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
I absolutely adored Crossroads and I was so excited for Sunlight.
Sasha is the resort’s new manager, giving Indya some assistance. She has a not so meet cute with Jax at the town’s grocery store. He tried to ask her out and she refuses. Then they act like they’re meeting for the first time at the resort. I felt terrible for Sasha as she struggled to adjust to Montana. Jax was so warm and just wanted to connect with her.
I struggle a bit with accidental pregnancy books, but I loved how Sasha and Jax were excited about the pregnancy and how it was a starting point for their relationship. It was tough to see Sasha push Jax away but it made sense when we learned more.
I hope we get more books in this series!

𝗕𝗟𝗨𝗥𝗕: Sasha is in the process of starting over by moving from California to Montana to work as a resort manager at Haven River Ranch. Indya, one of the current owners of the ranch, is pregnant & will be going on maternity leave soon & needed someone to fill in for her. Upon her arrival, Sasha had an embarrassing moment at the local grocery store where none other than Jax Haven comes to her rescue. Jax also comes to her rescue by allowing her to stay in the cabin next door to his because her current apartment is awful. When Jax & Sasha attend a work party, they end up spending an intimate night together. Sasha pushes Jax away because she can’t allow herself to get close to anyone, given her traumatic upbringing. A couple months later, Sasha finds herself pregnant. Sasha & Jax learn how to navigate their new journey together & in the process, there seems to be a deeper connection between them.
𝗠𝗬 𝗧𝗛𝗢𝗨𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗦: This is my first ever ARC read of one of Devney’s books so when I received the approval email, I almost fainted! Devney is one of my absolute favorite authors & this was a highly anticipated release for me. I loved Jax & Sasha’s story so much. They both had such complicated childhoods but to see them connect through their past experiences was just so beautiful. The way Jax takes care of Sasha & their baby will just have your heart absolutely melting. I am so happy that both Jax & Sasha got their happily ever after’s!
Once again, an accidental pregnancy completely sells me on the trope. Honestly, if Devney Perry writes it, I'll read it. I absolutely loved Crossroads, the first book in the Haven River Ranch series, and have been anxiously awaiting the second book, SUNLIGHT (especially after that epilogue!).
Jax and Sasha's story was everything I was wanting and much, much more. We're back in Haven River Ranch and this pair meets at the grocery store, but as soon as Sasha figures out Jax is her sort-of boss at the ranch, she keeps him at arms length...until she doesn't. And that leads to a whole slew of issues, including an accidental pregnancy.
My heart broke for Sasha's character. She cannot catch a break and the reason why she's in Montana was a mystery up until the very end (which of course, I loved). Those letters, though 😭. Sasha is completely walled off emotionally and incredibly skittish with Jax. With her past, I honestly can't blame her.
Jax is a playboy cowboy and I was tickled with how butt-hurt he was when Sasha constantly turned him down. She unnerves him and Jax can't figure out why. He also hasn't had the easiest upbringing, so I could see why he was the way he was.
I loved Sasha and Jax as people, but I loved them even more together as a couple. The chemistry they had was unmatched and the steam was so well done! I also couldn't get enough of the slight edge of suspense that was woven into the story.
