Y’all know I fell in love with Devney Perry’s first book Crossroads so when I got approved for this ARC I was ecstatic 😍😭!
Haven River Ranch has a piece of my heart and it felt so good to be back.
Sunlight is the second story in the Haven Ranch series.
I’ve been excited for Jax’s story since Crossroads!
Jax and Sasha’s story was truly special! If there’s one thing Devney Perry does, it’s write an mmc that sweeps you away so freaking fast! Makes me wasn’t to find a cowboy hubby asap 🫠 I loved loved the way Jax was patient with Sasha and how he was really just all in from the beginning. Sasha is a complex fmc. She’s hesitant to form connections with anyone. Even though they had a little rough start, everything works out and they become each others safe spaces. 🥹
If you love surprise pregnancy, cowboy romance, forced proximity, small town, workplace romance, then this is the book for you! You will not be disappointed!
ugh i loved this so much!! i don’t know what it is about devney’s writing, but she just continues to put out banger after banger, and i am so here for it. everything she writes is an automatic 5⭐️ for me, and sunlight was unsurprisingly perfect in every way.
jax wanted sasha from the moment they met but she was determined to keep things strictly professional (we all know that never works lol). the tension between them was so tangible, and i loved seeing them fumble their way through that new and scary road that was having to raise a baby together. the way they communicated with each other and supported one another just warmed my heart.
jax was a man who kept showing up and was determined to show sasha that he would be there for her regardless, even with her being guarded and skittish. that man quite literally would not give up on her, and the cocky smirks he always threw her way were just *chef’s kiss*.
the last 30% really got to me as well. i don’t think i’ve sobbed like this since letters to molly, and my heart is truly happy right now. jax + sasha were everything.
i loved their love. no notes.
Oh Haven River Ranch I missed you! And it felt so damm good to be back, it felt like I returned home. Set 7 years after Crossroads, Sunlight gives us Jax’s story and it did not disappoint. Devney’s writing sucks you in from the very first page and she delivers everything you could want from a small town romance. Jax and Sasha’s story is one about love, hope, redemption, grief, family, finding yourself, and finding the one. It is filled with banter, angst and chemistry that will give you goosebumps, and you won’t want to put it down until there are no more pages left to read
I loved being back at Haven River Ranch! I didn’t think I could love this as much as Crossroads but wow, it was phenomenal. Jax and Sasha are EVERYTHING.
Sunlight is a small-town romance with a beautiful love story between Jax Haven, part owner of Haven River Ranch and Sasha Vaughn, the new manager of the lodge. These two had the BEST meet cute but once Sasha realizes who he is she stops flirting and puts distance between them. Their chemistry is off the charts and after one too many glasses of champagne at the holiday party, their one night together changes everything.
Accidental pregnancy can be hit or miss for me but this was done PERFECTLY. The way their relationship progressed felt so natural.
Their “tell me a lie” and “tell me a secret” conversations were so fun and sweet 🥹
After meeting Jax in Crossroads, I couldn’t wait for him to get his HEA and this did not disappoint. I loved him. He used to be a player but the second he meets Sasha he’s a goner. He’s so patient with her and knows when to give her space.
Sasha’s past is a mystery and my heart broke for her as it was slowly revealed. She’s doing her best to stay afloat and Jax is exactly what she needs to learn to finally let go and just breathe. They are absolutely perfect together.

There is something about Jax coming to Sasha’s rescue over a confrontation about a shopping cart that you know is going to keep your attention at the start of their story. However, Jax and his family own the lodge that she was just hired to run, so Sasha has to build up her impenetrable walls (especially because she needs the job in Montana). What happens when those walls come crashing down at a holiday party, and the two spend the night together? Sasha is ready to go back to normal the next day, but everything changes 6 weeks later with a positive test. I love that Jax was ready for anything, and never doubted becoming a father or what Sasha would need. His first goal is to get Sasha under his roof and then to love his home state, but she sees everything as temporary. She is used to people leaving and is afraid of that happening again. Can she build roots while still writing letters to her past, and can she open up to Jax who hides nothing? Haven River Ranch might be my favorite Devney Perry series so far, and that is saying something: I cannot wait to read what is next.
I really really loved Jax. Naturally. Though from book 1, I knew I would. There's just something about his personality that really stuck with me and made him fun to read. And he was not afraid to go after what he wanted. Sasha wasn't my favorite character but she grew on me. She was almost too wishy washy for me. Say one thing but act a different way. But towards the end I warmed up to her a little. I really like this ranch series!
INFINITY STARS!!! ⭐️
Jax & Sasha have absolutely stollen my heart & it’s theirs forever. I don’t know what Devney puts in her books, but every single time I read something by her, she brings out every emotion out of me. She had me laughing, crying, screaming, kicking my feet, swooning, I was feeling it all & I just couldn’t get enough. Also loved the bit of mystery that was going on throughout the plot. And the accidental pregnancy trope in here? Absolutely amazing & Devney did an amazing job writing this trope! The Haven River Ranch series has become one of my absolute favorites & Devney will always be an auto-read/auto-buy author for me 💛
The chemistry between Jax & Sasha was just absolutely PHENOMENAL & the slow burn was SO worth it. I really loved Sasha, she felt super relatable & you couldn’t help but root for her. My heart felt for her the more I got to know her backstory & everything she had gone through. Love the healing journey she went through & she really deserved a HEA 🥹
Jax was just the perfect book boyfriend. So patient with Sasha, he always reassured her & made sure she knew she wasn’t alone & never would have to be alone again. I love how protective he was of her & how he didn’t back down no matter how much she tried to push him away or keep distance between them. Also love the healing journey he through is the story as well. Also, this man had he absolutely BLUSHING 🥵 I am absolutely SAT for Jax Haven & he’s definitely going in the top 10 favorite book boyfriends of all time 🧎🏻♀️
I just loved everything about this, especially the epilogue. It had me so emotional & it was honestly just the perfect closing for the book 🫶🏻 I seriously cannot recommend this series enough!
Wow! Devney Perry is one of those authors that always works for me and Sunlight was such a beautiful final novel in the Haven River Ranch series. I fell in love with this ranch and its family in the first novel and continued to fall in this one! Perry's writing is evocative, open and charming. Her characters leap of the pages as complex individuals. This novel (like its predecessor) employs a lovely tactic of dropping little insights into the heroine with letters and then slowly lets the reader in on the truth behind who the heroine is referencing in a way that keeps the reader and the hero on the same page throughout the novel. Sunlight is a small town, Montana ranch, accidental pregnancy where the hero falls first (even if he might not realize it) and fights hard to keep the woman he loves!
Perry starts of this romance with a delightful meet cute and an obvious chemistry between Jax and Sasha, but after Sasha discovers who Jax is (her new "boss") she takes a step back from truly opening up herself. Perry then takes the reader on an emotional push and pull of Jax and Sasha orbiting each other, Sasha's avoidance, and then ultimate explosion of chemistry. The tension between these too is palpable from their first meeting and the charm of their love story is really in both of them learning to open themselves up to the other. I love that through small tactics "tell me a secret", "tell me and untruth" that these two find a common ground and a safe space to be open. Jax is such a swoon-worthy hero, and Perry does not shy away from showing true human emotions when it comes to the shock and uncertainty around becoming a father. I love that Perry has Jax be someone who wants to talk things out and not shy away from a difficult conversation. The truth of who Jax is, helps to draw out Sasha's truths. Sasha is someone who loves deeply, who works hard but also doubts herself in moments and the way that she and Jax balance each other is really beautiful and what makes their love story one that is deep, romantic and unforgettable.
I adored this novel. I adored this series. Devney Perry is always a must read author for me and I so highly encourage anyone to pick up one of her books. The Haven River Ranch series is a really lovely place to discover Perry's works.

Probably one of the most exciting moments of my life was finding out I was approved for this ARC! I've been a huge fan of Devney Perry's for the past couple years and I could not wait for this to hit my NetGalley. I've been itching for Sasha and Jax since the ending of Crossroads. And on top of that this being an accidental pregnancy. NO ONE does it like Devney Perry.
I was hooked on these two from the very beginning, the grocery store meet-cute, the instant chemistry, and more. Then getting to be in both of their heads and seeing that neither hated the other they just didn't trust how they would act. I loved all the little moments where we got to see just how far gone Jax was for Sasha. He is the epitome of 'if he wanted to he would'. I also really appreciated how these two characters seemed to balance each other out. Jax's chaos to Sasha's organization, and then the way we watched them grow as they prepared to be parents.
Jax was always so gentle with Sasha and her feelings, and letting her open herself up to him slowly over time. I did enjoy the fact that most of the challenges that they faced in this book they did so together. But at the same time I wished that more of this book focused more on Sasha and Jax's challenges and not Emory's BUTTTTT I also loved the way that this particular pregnancy trope played out.
Devney's books never fail to be so picturesque and inspire me to trip to Montana, and this one is no different. If you're looking for a sweet, little cowboy romance on the most wonderful little lodge town, Sunlight is the book for you.
HUGE thank you to Devney Perry and Valentine PR for the opportunity to read this story! <3
From the moment Jax met Sasha, there was something he couldn't resist, but when she finds out he is her new boss, she quickly sets a barbed wire fence around herself, but he slowly starts to weasel his way past her defences and after a few drinks at a holiday party, she ends up with a surprise neither of them expected!
I really enjoyed how their relationship unfolded, it was more of a slow burn with some pinning from Jax, but he was slowly able to get her to open up to him, and it was just really sweet to see them fall in love and face all the obstacles they had in front of them.
Both of them had such complicated pasts that had to be worked on as they prepared for their next chapter so this book definitely brought the emotions, but had a good balance of humour and spice as well. Overall this was an enjoyable read and a great series from Devney!

♾️ This is easily one of my favorite accidental pregnancy books ever!! After Crossroads I knew I was going to love Jax SO much, and he was everything and more. 😭💛 Jax and Sasha’s story was so beautifully written, I just wanted it to never end. 🥹 I absolutely loved the dynamic between these two and the gradual build of their relationship. Also, the “secret” kept me on the literal edge of my seat!!! 🤫👀
5🌟
Something about that Montana air always brings me joy. I loved being back at Haven River Ranch and that’s not a secret 😌.
Devney Perry does it again! I swear I’m in love with all of the characters she creates!
Now this is accidental pregnancy but I love this trope so much so you best believe I DEVOURED this one up.
Sasha and Jax had the most amazing chemistry from the start. Jax just wanted her attention and Sasha was doing her best to ignore him because he was technically kinda her boss. Jax was obsessed and was constantly saying the most beautiful things about Sasha.
Their constant pull towards one another made me so giddy and the way he was so present during the pregnancy 🥹.
Thank you to Valentine PR and Devney Perry for the e-ARC 🫶🏼!
*blows raspberries* Did I read a different book than others? Did I just read this at the wrong time and that’s why I didn’t vibe with it while everyone else has given this rave reviews? Well… let’s just say this is one of my least fave DP books (which makes me sad cause I genuinely love her books and I’m super sad I didn’t like this)
I just did not connect with this book. I didn’t connect with either of the MC’s - Jax wasn’t swoony for me and Sasha needed therapy and I felt like she was coddled too much.
The mystery behind Sasha’s background just frustrated me more than kept me intrigued (and the letters to Eddie was too similar to the voicemail “mystery” of book one). And the secret of who Eddie was? Unimpressed
My favorite part of accidental pregnancy romances are “watching” the couple come together over the pregnancy and I just didn’t feel it in this. The moments of pregnancy we got felt half done.
(The audiobook is available free with a KU subscription- I wasn’t a fan of Stephen’s narration and think it is where my disconnect with Ajax lies. I feel like the character was written sweeter, but Stephen added a lot of cockiness which gave me bleh feelings)
Final Rating: 3⭐️, 2.5🌶️

One of my favorites from Ms. Perry, we pick up a few months after the conclusion of Crossroads. I was interested to see where we would go with Jax. Based on what we have seen of him, he is in no place to settle down. I settled in with the intent to read a chapter or two….I should know better.
From the wrestling of the shopping cart, I was hooked. A little intrigue and mystery follows the story, peaking even more of my interest. While the interest is there, a distraction by the name of Jax Haven might just be too much for the goals and life our leading lady has mapped out.
I am ready for what is to come next.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Wow!! I couldn’t put this down and stayed up past my bedtime to finish it. Jax is the town flirt in a small town, Sasha is the new girl that will be running the resort at his ranch while his sister in law is on maternity leave. There trauma in her past that keeps her for making close relationships. Jax is having none of that, he’s set on breaking down her walls and there are a bunch of surprises along the way. My heart hurt for everything Sasha went through and I loved watching Jax bring her back to life! This is the epitome of everything a small town romance should be!!

I've got a bone to pick with you, Devney. You don't always have to make me cry, you know?! 😭😂 Are all the books in this series going to make me bawl?? Anyway, I started this book this morning and I just couldn't put it down. It's phenomenal, just like the first one. If you like accidental pregnancy, you'll love this book and if you don't like accidental pregnancy, you'll still love this book, I promise you. These characters are real and raw and just so well done! Congrats and yet another amazing book, Devney!
Also, I don't have favourite quotes because I just couldn't pause my reading long enough to highlight anything lol. But I will say, anytime Jax said "My Josephine", I MELTED.
Thank you Net Galley for the ARC of Sunlight by Devney Perry
I loved being back in Haven River Ranch. Can I just move there please? I was so excited to read Jax's story!
This one takes place many years after Crossroads. Jax & Sasha met at a grocery store but then she got spooked and ran when she figured out he was kinda like her new boss. She avoided him for a while but then one night she let her guard down and spent the night in his bed. She went back to avoiding him but 6 weeks later she got a surprise... she was pregnant with his baby.
Jax.... I think I love him. He was a playboy but something about Sasha made him change his ways. He is a swoony book boyfriend. They had some serious chemistry but Sasha had her walls way up and he had to work really hard to get them down. But he was so patient with her. It was definitely a slow burn. They got to know each other by playing a little game together... "tell me a secret" or "tell me a lie". It was so sweet. 🥰 I loved the added suspense of Eddie! All of that wrapping up at the end really made me tear up. This book had me feeling all kinds of emotions. I loved seeing West & Indya and how their life was now. Everything about this book was just so, so good.
What to expect:

This one releases on October 15! Thank you Devney Perry, NetGalley, & Valentine PR for this eARC. This is my honest review.
Listen as soon as I found out Jax was going to have a book, I was excited. But unfortunately this one wasn’t my favorite. I felt like something was missing. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between Jax & Sasha. There were moments I did like. There were moments that had me emotional. I did like that it was fast paced. If you like small town romances, accidental pregnancy and forced proximity, this one’s for you.
Thank you Valentine PR for this arc.
4.5 I love this series! Again, we get an emotional and beautiful story.
Jax and Sasha meet in an unusual way. It had me laughing out loud. I loved their instant chemistry and back and forth exchanges. That changed when Sasha realized Jax was her new boss. Eventually, they give in to the tension and Sasha gets pregnant. I know accidental pregnancy isn’t always a fave, but Devney does it so well!
Sasha lost her parents at 18 and doesn’t trust people easily. She is keeping part of her life a secret. I loved this aspect of the book, with the mystery letters. It really tugged on my heart strings when everything came out.
Jax may have had a playboy reputation, but there was no doubt how he felt about Sasha and the baby. He was so sure and steady. Staying strong and calm during Sasha’s moments of unease and anxiety. I loved watching them both grow and mature together. Piecing together a family for Sasha and baby Josephine.
I'm quite simply obsessed. One of my new favorite Devney Perry books.
Happy Release Day! This is one of my favorite books l've read in 2024. Everything you love about a Devney Perry book, you get here. Idyllic small town in Montana, banter, spice, a secret, and a cowboy. What more could you want? Sasha and Jax have a meet cute at a grocery store, and while the connection is there, she turns him down. Come to find out, she turned him down because she is the newest employee at the Haven River Ranch.
The chemistry is still there, and the night of the employee post holiday party they cross the line. A couple weeks later... Sasha realizes she's pregnant with his baby *
This book was so sweet and perfect. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, crossroads, so it was really fun getting to see all the characters again. Sasha and Jax were something special. Jax was wounded, but so caring and protective of Sasha and the baby. Sasha has a secret from her past, and it creates suspense learning about it in pieces which I really enjoyed because it got me hooked QUICK! I absolutely loved this book!!
