Well I think it is safe to say that @devneyperry can not write a bad book. This was such a brilliant read, I literally couldn't put it down. There is definitely something about a small town, cowboy that really has me in a chokehold.
I do not know whether there will be anymore but I really hope so because I can't get enough of this series.
"My first day in Montana, I got into a tug-of-war over a grocery store shopping cart. The most handsome man I’d ever seen broke up the scuffle before he asked me on a date. I was seconds away from accepting but then he told me his name.
As an owner of the Haven River Ranch, Jax Haven wasn’t my boss. But he wasn’t not my boss either.
Obviously, my only option was to turn him down, scurry away, then pretend like he was a stranger on my first day of work. And obviously, I could never, ever admit that he was my secret crush.
For as hard as I work at my job, I work twice as hard to pretend Jax doesn’t exist. I don’t let myself think about his dazzling eyes or charming smile. I refuse to acknowledge how good he looks in a pair of faded Wrangler jeans. And as tempting as he is in a cowboy hat, Jax is a distraction I cannot afford.
Everything was going according to plan until the annual holiday party. Until I drank one too many flutes of champagne and let him sweep me off my feet. After a night in his bed, there was no more ignoring Jax Haven. Not when I’m pregnant with his baby."
I was kindly gifted this book to review but the views are all mine
🌶️🌶️ 2/5
"She could glare at me all she wanted, I didn’t give a d@mn. I knew what it looked like when a woman wanted a kiss. And Sasha wanted to be kissed."
This was such an amazing book!!! I enjoyed every moment of getting to know the characters in this story. I absolutely loved how Jax was always there for Sasha, even when she was pushing him away.
Jax isn't the kind of cowboy to settle down, but when he meets a beautiful woman at a grocery store, everything changes. He wants to know her name and everything about her except when she find out who he is she wants nothing to do with him. Jax isn't the type to not go after what he wants. Soon he learns the beauty he met at the store is actually now working for his family resort. Even though she's pretending they've never met, Jax isn't detoured. He can wait for her. After a work party, Jax and Sasha share a night together. Sasha tells Jax it's a mistake and they should forget it, but forgetting will be impossible when she see two lines on that pregnancy test.
“I’ve got you. When it comes to the baby and life and all things. I’ve got you."

Crossroads is one of my favorite books of the year, meaning Sunlight was a highly anticipated read. So thank you so much to @devneyperry and @valentine_pr_ for the eARC! (And yes I have a physical copy and already got the audiobook since this book is out TODAY!)
This is a small town, enemies to lovers, accidental (though Sasha wouldn’t like me saying that…) pregnancy, cowboy romance that was an immediate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! I truly read this in almost one sitting and I loved it so much!
Sasha and Jax absolutely are meant for each other, and Jax’s patience with Sasha, his persistence and kindness when she was scared, was so beautiful! Sasha has gone through so much, and had a hard time accepting good things, but Jax was determined early on to bring love and light and joy into her life.
I honestly would have read 200 more pages of these two just hanging out. This was a slowww burn but it was so worth it in the end.
4.5⭐️ (rounded up)
Sasha has moved to Montana to work at Haven River Ranch. When she meets Jax in the grocery store parking lot, there is an immediate attraction, but she soon learns that his family owns the ranch. Sasha cannot let anything get in the way of this job, so she tries to ignore the attraction. When Sasha and Jax sleep together after the staff holiday party, Sasha decides it can never happen again, except a few weeks later, she realizes she is pregnant.
This book was so hard to put down! I really enjoyed Crossroads, but Sunlight is my new favourite book in the series. It might be an unpopular opinion, but I actually love the accidental pregnancy trope and Devney Perry always writes it so well. I loved the relationship between Jax and Sasha. He was so sweet and patient with her. This book was beautiful and emotional, and I loved every second of it. I highly recommend this series if you love small town romances.

Thank you to Devney Perry, Montlake and Valentine PR for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
i loved everything about this book. jax and sasha work together, but they meet before they know this. jax is a carefree cowboy, and sasha is the careful city girl. after a night spent together, they learn they're going to have a baby together and a wonderful love story follows.
jax and sasha grow and learn how to love, not just one another, but also the people around them. between secrets, lies, and breakfasts before dinner, the two of them create a sweet family. jax becomes sasha's secret keeper and sasha becomes jax's anchor. they lean on one another when things get rough and create safe spaces. jax and sasha's story is filled with so much love and touches on the importance of the words we use and how much weight they hold. especially about the people we love.
This book was amazing! No one pulls you in quite like Devney Perry. I was instantly hooked on Jax and Sasha’s stories and the sparks when they were together. This surprise pregnancy/forced proximity/cowboy romance was everything. Sasha was such a strong character with a tender heart and Jax was patient and trustworthy. I adore this Haven family so much. Five stars
This is quickly becoming my favorite small town/cowboy romance series. Jax and Sasha were so perfect for one another. Their pasts brought so much to the relationship dynamic and how they truly cherish one another. My favorite parts were when they asked for a secret and a lie.
Small town. Surprise pregnant. Workplace romance. Forced proximity.
This book was PERFECTION!
I could have read this book forever! The second I finished it, I went back and read my favorite parts again and again.
Accidental pregnancy is by no means my favorite trope and one of the reasons I usually don't like it is because the romance sometimes feels forced between the two MCs when there's a baby on the way.
BUT in this book, you can feel the connection between Jax and Sasha from their first (chaotic and hilarious) meeting! I loved how Sasha slowly opened up to Jax and understood how he was all in with her. Their relationship was so beatuiful and heartwarming.
I LOVED everything about this book. I loved seeing Indya and West, I loved Haven River Ranch and I loved Montana (iykyk). This book has become one of my all-time favorite books, and definitely a favorite of 2024!
I can't wait for the next books in this series (Emery and Zak?)!
Another exceptional book from an exceptional author! I love a good cowboy romance and Jax is one of my favorite cowboy book boyfriends. Devney used her exceptional storytelling skills to take us on the journey of Sasha and Jax. It took a little bit to connect with Sasha and once you know her why it's easy to open your heart to her. What I love about this book is that it’s paced very naturally. Even though Jax falls first and Sasha has some secrets, they both get to know each other on a realistic pace. They truly become friends and then lovers. One of my favorite parts of this book was the “tell me a lie/ tell me a secret” aspect - my heart 😍. The ending just made me smile! One you don't want to miss!
devney perry has done it again, i am absolutely in love with the world and people she creates!! haven river ranch is my new home away from home, and jax and sasha are everything! love that this book included such a heartfelt backstory for both characters and their journey towards love. this book is absolutely a love story but is also about redemption, and grief, and forgiveness for both yourself and others. had me hooked from the very first page!!
jax and sasha had such insane chemistry and the slow burn was SLOW BURNINGGG!! i was genuinely on the edge of my seat waiting to see how they got over each hurdle. jax was so patient and understanding and sasha was so brave in forging ahead i just loved these two so much!
i always love how deveny has a little bit of mystery in all her stories and sasha’s backstory was so engaging in this. it was the perfect amount of unknown. also just need to give her the worlds biggest hug (this was actually what half my kindle notes were screaming about)
loved getting to come back to haven river ranch and see where everyone was at. this crew is full of complicated characters who have very real faults but that’s part of what i love so much about them. not everything in life comes easy but this book shows how worth it is to fight for what matters!!
sappy moment time but genuinely thank you to valentine pr and devney perry for this arc it means the absolute world to me 🥹 the eden’s are what got me into cowboy romances and i have found such a deep love for the entirety of devney’s back catalog! her stories have gotten me through some tough times (and serious reading slumps) so getting an arc for one of her books was such a surreal moment 🫶🏻
This book was beautiful. This story was perfection. I cried so many tears while reading. It seriously touched my soul in a way that I can't explain.
"Tell me a lie." "I hate Montana."
Jax and Sasha meet in the grocery store parking lot while she is trying to borrow a grocery cart. This meet cute turns into flirty banter and laughter before she realizes he is none other than Jax Haven, her new boss(ish). Sasha has moved to town to take over as the temporary manager of Haven River Ranch.
She quickly decides he is off limits. They have this undeniable chemistry and one night they give in. That one night now changes everything!
"My Josephine."
This book blew me away. I loved it from beginning to end. I loved the suspense element and I spent this whole book coming up with theories about who "Eddie" was. I was wrong every single time. Get your tissues ready my friends, you are going to need them!
I ate this book up!! I loved being back in the Haven River Ranch! I knew I would love Jax from crossroads and he sure didn’t disappoint! Loved that he knew once he set eyes on Sasha at the grocery store! Sasha and Jax had instant chemistry but their relationship was a slow burn for sure!
Jax stepped up the second he knew and I loved that he reassured Sasha that she wasn’t alone and he wasn’t going anywhere! Sasha had a hard time expressing her feelings and what she wanted but Jax was a patient man.
The baby’s name 🥹💛
I needed more of them!! I feel like it went so fast and would have loved to experience more of them with the baby! The time jumps were not my favorite.
The epilogue was everything!!
Highlights:
“I want you, Sasha. So fucking much.” “Then Take me.”
“That’s what you come over here to tell me? That I look like hell?” “You do look like hell. And you’re still the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”
“I’m scared to push with you. I’m afraid I’ll push you away. But damn it, Sasha, I want to push.” “Maybe I need to be pushed.”
“I love you. I think I loved you the moment you tried to steal that shopping cart.”
“Tell me a secret” “I love you”
4.5 STARS!
Sunlight by Devney Perry is the second story in the Haven Ranch series! I've been excited for Jax's story since Crossroads, and he did not disappoint 🤌🏼.
Jax and Sasha have a meet cute moment at a grocery store. It's an instant attraction, but Sasha quickly realizes who he is and decides not to accept his offer to dinner, leaving Jax perplexed. Soon, Jax finds out that she's none other than the new manager of the resort.
At first, their relationship has a bit of a bumpy start. When Sasha needs a new place to live, she's invited to stay at one of the guest cabins on the property that's right next to Jax. She tries to avoid him at all costs, but one shared drunken night after the holiday party leads to two lines on a pregnancy test.
I've been consuming surprise pregnancy stories recently, and honestly, they've been so much fun to read! Sasha guards her heart closely, and Jax fights her every step of the way. They learn to work together to become the best parents they can be for their baby, and it was such a wonderful thing to see!!
I adored this book so much!! Jax and Sasha's story was truly special. It's a story of redemption and second chances you don't want to miss!! I really hope Emery and Zak get a book, too!! Thank you so much, Devney 💛.
Still in shock after receiving an arc of this but thank you so much Valentine, NetGalley, and Devney 🫶🏼
Another devney slay - I am truly obsessed with this series and characters, and I hope there are more books to come. Idk what it is but it’s just so easy to fall in love with these fictional worlds that she creates.
Jax Haven, the man you are 👏🏼👏🏼 I loved how supportive and patient he was with Sasha from the day they met, even though she certainly did not make it easy for him. These two were so fun, and so sweet. I was so giddy and just living for their love story.
I love the accidental pregnancy trope and the fact that I used to not is appalling to me bc who was I? It was done so well here and it was cool to see Sasha’s entire pregnancy journey all while she was falling in love with Montana and with Jax, ofc.
This beauty is out October 15 so mark your calendars!
- small town
- cowboy
- forced proximity
- workplace
- accidental pregnancy
Tell me a lie - I hated this book
Tell me a secret - I loved Jax and Sasha’s story so so much.
Oh this book was so good for me. I loved how these two lost souls found each other and how they navigated their way into a happy ever after.
There’s so much heart in this story. Both Jax and Sasha has a history they’re not willing to share but with a few nudges from Jax he gets snippets of the life Sasha had before Montana. And at the same time he opens up to her. He used to be the town’s playboy but now he has his heart set on one girl only.
If you love: heartbreak(not in the way you’re thinking), cowboys, unexpected pregnancy, workplace romance, secrets and lies, reformed playboy then this is the book for you.
Devney Perry has become an auto buy author for me. Her work is just so good.
Sasha and Jax got a deserving 5🦋.
Where do I even begin with this beautiful story!! I absolutely loved Jax and Sasha as a couple so much and I loved seeing their relationship progress.
I am a huge sucker for an accidental pregnancy and this might be one of my favourite because of how wholesome it was. Jax was the sweetest and so charming it is nearly impossible to not like the man. Sasha was definitely a sassy FMC which I loved and I felt like their opposite personalities really made their relationship so unique and fun to read.
I’ve become a huge fan of Devney and her writing so it’s no surprise this one was a banger!
Small town
Workplace romance
Accidental pregnancy
Forced proximity
Cowboy romance
i’m speechless, i’m crying, i’m unwell
i love jax haven
I fell in love with Haven River Ranch in Crossroads and I was anxiously awaiting Jax & Sasha’s story in Sunlight! This was everything I wanted and more. This story is so beautiful😭
Sasha needed to escape her past life and wound up on Haven River Ranch. She meets Jax before she find out he’s her boss.. and once she realizes who she is, she’s determined not to act on her feelings. But Jax is making it hard because he wants to pursue his feelings, and he’s got a feeling it’s not one sided.
After a one night stand, Sasha ends up pregnant. And Jax STEPS UP so well. I fell in love with this man OVER AND OVER during this book. He was just so amazing with Sasha and gave her the time and space she needed to open up even though it was killing him. He didn’t want to push too hard and lose her when she and Josephine are his main priorities.
Devney really outdid herself on this one. We got a beautiful story between these two with some mystery thrown in. I loved everything about this book. This book will have you in your feels, but in the best way possible🥹
“Tell me a secret”….. “Tell me a lie”!!!
Oh how I love this game Jax plays with Sasha! I was addicted to this book right away and couldn’t stop thinking about it when I had to put it down. Devney has done it again! She has written another small town romance set in Montana that will pull at your heartstrings and give you all the feels and I loved every page of this book! Surprise pregnancy, amazing banter and the chemistry between these two characters is perfect!
Sasha and Jax are both a little broken and finding each other makes them a little less broken. One night changes everything for them and their lives will never be the same. Jax is a protective, sexy cowboy, maybe my new favorite book boyfriend! Sasha is a strong woman how just needs to trust and find a place she feels safe. Maybe Haven River Ranch is just the place for her! I loved getting to see the characters from Crossroads and what they’ve been up too!
This book will pull at your emotions, make you laugh and I loved going on the journey with Jax and Sasha! I highly recommend this book! No words can do it justice and Devney’s writing is pure perfection like always!
As we return to the Haven River Ranch we are once again in the company of Jax and West Haven, brothers and co-owners of the ranch resort.
An impromptu meeting with a stranger in town is cut abruptly short when said stranger discovers Jax's identity.
Sasha turns out to be the new manager of the ranch and she's put herself in a 'no go' area, especially for Jax.
In true romance novel style though, things don't quite go to plan and an unexpected pregnancy is the result.
The story of Sasha and Jax is beautiful in its vulnerabilities. Neither of our main characters have had it easy, albeit for very different reasons but Jax is invested in a new life with Sasha and the baby even when she's not so sure of the whole thing!
I really enjoyed this book, especially the banter between our MCs - the audio version (especially as we can listen and read) was sensational with the dialogue scenes bringing
the story, the anxiety and the vulnerabilities of each character right to the fore.
Is the Haven River Ranch series really finished or can we anticipate more 'love on the range' in the future? One can only keep hoping!
Sasha and Jax are unexpected. She arrives at the Ranch to help out Indya while she goes on maternity leave. She has secrets and Jax wants to figure them out. He is attracted to her and they have a one night stand which leads to a pregnancy. As they work it out, he starts to fall in love with Sasha and tries his best to get her to love Montana. I really like this series.
