This was a fun one, that I almost wish I would have read during Christmas time (even though it technically doesn’t take place then). Dane and Amanda come from rival families in the town of Tinsel and pretend to be engaged to bring their families together.
It was cute, it was cozy, it was Christmasy, and definitely gave hallmark movie vibes.
How can a book be far fetched and so believable all at the same time? Because it’s Pippa Grant. She’s just so darn good. This book gave me all the feels. Sweet and swoony. Sexy and pent up. Funny with a great sense of family and nostalgia. I truly loved everything about it. Highly recommend. Five stars.
The Fake Wedding Project by P. Grant, published by Montlake is a witty and fun rom/com. Steamy, sometimes hilarious, sometimes steamy, sometimes heartwrenchingly beautiful, sometimes heartwarming.
Dane and Amanda's families are rivals for a very long time. Trying to unite them, the both agree to get fake engaged. That didn't go over so well, believe me.
A wonderful story that gives all the feels, highly entertaining with wonderful characters.
Modern day Romeo and Juliet with a little Christmas and a mystery mixed in.
Amanda is tired of her family’s feud with the Silvers and she does not want to inherit her family’s gingerbread business. So she makes up a fake engagement to Dane Silver.
Dane Silver is also tired of the feud so when his high school crush asks him to fake an engagement he does not hesitate.
This was a cute easy love story. I got Hallmark vibes. I loved both Dane and Amanda they had such cute chemistry. I also loved the dog he was such a cute addition to the story
If you like Hallmark movies you will love this book.
Thank you NetGalley and Montlake publishing for this title. This is my very honest review.
"At the risk of not sounding like an asshole,,, it's ridiculous for your grandmother to fake a heart attack over not Liking someone you claim to love enough to want to marry.”
"Amanda, will you do me the honor of being my fake fiancée so that we can bring some peace to this town?"
It felt like a modern day Romeo and Juliet. Their families are rivals and they secretly love each other. I can’t tell if it is a safe feel first he fell harder or vice versa because of how they both act. On the surface they act as if they are just doing each other a favor ending the fueding family war but they like each instantly. Pippa Grant always delivers fun fresh stories
I am a big fan of Pippa Grant. This book did not disappoint. It was so good and I enjoyed it greatly. I think other romcom readers will as well.
If you feel like hallmark Christmas movies need a little bit of spice, than this book is for you. The plot of this book is so far fetched that it feels right almost fantasy. The MMC's families have a rival gingerbread and fruit cake empires. None of their children want to take over the companies and also they are not allowed to be friends or to speak to members of the opposite family. The MMC's have decided to pretend to be engaged to hopefully create peace between the families.
Because of the overarching drama, it feels like the MMC's love and personalities are a bit drowned out by the feud. The story itself had some sweet moments and a cute christmasy vibe overall it was quite cheesy and full of unnecessary drama.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 is an ode to a blip in an otherwise picture perfect small town where a feud between rival families had caused too much ruckus.
The solution? A fake engagement.
Dane's had a crush on Amanda all throughout high school, so when the chance arrives to be roped into a fake marriage scheme with her, he simply can't pass it up.

It was a very quirky book. But fun.
I was laughing at their antics and getting enraged at the sheer stupidity.
The romance, while cute, wrapped up way too quick for my liking. And there was also a lack of in-depth character analysis, so the plot felt too slanted towards the feud than anything else.

The Fake Wedding Project, written by Pippa Grant, is a cute fake engagement title with a Christmas in August twist.

Dane (MMC)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Amanda (FMC)⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dane and Amanda are back home to celebrate an anniversary party when things go haywire. Never thinking it would catch up to her, Amanda has told her family that she is engaged to Dane and that they are eloping in about a month. When Dane returns to his hometown she has to fess up and tell him about the mess she has created.
To Amanda’s amazement, Dane doesn’t immediately shut down the lie and demand an apology. He builds on the assumption and is soon taking her to officially meet his family. Dane’s reasoning is that he wants to end their families century long feud and find out what happened to cause all of the hatred between their families.
This book was really cute! I love Christmas so having a book set in a town that caters to the holiday all year long was entertaining. I love how Amanda’s family focuses on gingerbread and Dane’s family focuses on fruit cake.
Think sexy hallmark when reading this title!
The bonus epilogue was adorable!! ❤️
Overall score:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was such a cute little rom com book. It was literally a hallmark movie in book form. As someone who also loves all things Christmas all year round it was such a cozy read!! With it feeling like a hallmark movie, it was rather cheesy and very very predictable. Both main characters were likable but I didn’t really get super into them. The reason for their fake arrangement honestly was so silly to me and I just didn’t get it, just wasn’t very believable to me- based off of their feelings that was written. They didn’t convince me enough. Some off the writing felt a little clunky, but that might be fixed. All in all, it was a super cozy, cute, fun read and I might read it again to get back into the Christmas spirit later this year🎅🏽🤶🏼🎄🎁✨
I went into this completely blind, because I couldn't find a description anywhere. But I've read a few of Pippa Grants books and loved them, so I was feeling optimistic.
This book was such a fun time. It's a none Christmas time Christmas book set in the town of Tinsel, and it has all the good stuff, like fake engagement, small town, a generational family fued, best friends brother, and the goodest of good dogs.

This was the perfect rom-com with heartwarming moments. Dane was kind of the high school geek who had a unrequited crush on the popular girl in school, Amanda, but has grown into himself after high school. He is the perfect book boyfriend: supportive, protective, and caring of Amanda and hot. The book mostly focuses on the relationships Dane and Amanda have with their families and trying to figure out the origin of the feud, which provides a touch of mystery to the plot. While the plot was predictable, I recommend if you are looking for a short and sweet read.
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for the ARC!
Oh, get your heart strings ready to feel all the sweetness with this book! It was such a beautiful love story! I was in awe at how sweet it was! I loved the main characters in the book. Highly recommend!
Great book. I loved It even though it was a stretch out of my comfort zone as a reader. I would read another book by this author.
