Blurting out that you’re engaged to someone from your family’s sworn enemy list isn’t how Amanda Anderson saw her day starting. But she does, and then she has to live with the lie, convince the guy she said she was engaged to to help her perpetuate it, and prevent herself from falling in love with him.

This Romeo and Juliet -Lite – retelling was a cute and quick read.

The reason for the family feud is revealed, eventually, but before that the hero and heroine must live through a week of wedding plans from their family’s trying to one-up the other, and try to keep the act of eternal love going.

The writing was solid, as was the plot. The two things that bothered me about the story most was the use of the word “DICK” by EVERYONE to describe bad behavior of other people. As in, “Don’t be a dick about it,” and “Stop being a dick.” I could understand if this was said by one character as a character quirk. But everyone in the book said it and that made me feel as if the characters were a little flat.
Also, the “sex scenes”: while I love the English language, the way body parts were described I felt was a little trashy for this kind of book and didn’t fit the character’s “voices.”

3.5 stars from me. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a sneak peak. I think this book will do very well when it’s released.

What a decidedly lovely five-star read. I love Christmas, so I completely get wanting it all year round, but I do feel that after a few years of it, I would be like Amanda and Zane and be wanting to stay away from it, and not get folded into the mix. There are a couple of predictable moments in the story, but they are few and far between and overall get lots in the story. This was a really cute story, and if you are looking for some holiday cheer, or even just some cheer then this is certainly a story for you.

Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake for providing this book, with my honest review below.

The Fake Wedding Project was a great spin on Romeo and Juliet (gone right) and a low stakes caper all in one. Amanda and Dane are trying to get some agency while also quashing a feud between their families (and figuring out what even caused the feud). Set in a Christmas themed town, this could have read as corny very quickly but Pippa Grant straddles the line so well that this was decidedly adorable (and yes a bit steamy) with a strong story to keep it engaging.

All that said I can’t get enough of Chili the world’s laziest dog. The bonus epilogue from his perspective was adorable - though I now have to wonder if my own pup hates Santa as well (vs. our Santa’s shady behavior) given his own… issues.. when we took our Christmas pictures.

Pick this one up! It'll bring you some holiday cheer and romance no matter the season, much like the town it takes place in!

Oh my goodness, Amanda and Dane are *swoon*. Their connection grew organically from the beginning and I was with them every step of the way.
Pippa took the family feud trope and made it her own. I loved diving into this book and would recommend. 5/5 read for me!

This book had all of my favorite and guilty pleasure tropes. There is Romeo and Juliet, fake dating, hallmarkesque setting/plot, Christmas, and set in Michigan (as a Michigander that's a big one).

There was not a crazy amount of depth to this one but it scratched the simple reading itch that I needed in the moment. It was a very cute romance and I'm very happy where it ended up. I'd definitely reccomend this to any contemporary romance reader.

Rated 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. Thank you tobthe publisher and Netgalley for the ebook ARC.

This was overall a cute story with adorable main characters. Amanda and Dain grew up in rival families in a small Christmas themed town. Now, as adults, they are teaming up to fake an engagement hoping to finally put the long time feud between their families to rest.

The main characters, as well as some side characters, were the best part of this story. Amanda is outgoing and dramatic, but so caring and kind. Dane is a golden retriever willing to do anything for her. Over the course of their fake engagement, they develop real feelings for each other.

Some parts of the story were a little silly and over the top, but it added to the charm. I always enjoy Pippa Grant's books, and this one was definitely enjoyable.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

Amanda Anderson and Dane Silver decode on a fake engagement to try and stop the feuding between their families. Years long feud that no one seems to know why or how it started. This a a cute fast pace book. The plot is somewhat predictable but overall l liked this book. If the author decides to write books on some of the family members that are in this book I would read them.
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for this read.

If you're looking for a book to give you the holiday feels at any time of the year, look no further. The Fake Wedding Project is the book you need. It is set in Tinsel, a town that celebrates Christmas all year long. The town also has an ongoing, generational feud between two families, the Andersons and the Silvers. They HATE each other. The feud is slowly ruining the younger generation's lives until Amanda Anderson decides she's done with it and announces her engagement to Dane Silver... now she just has to convince him to play along. Dane, having had a secret crush on Amanda since high school, doesn't take long to agree. They set off to change the dynamics between their families and, since this is a romance novel, fall in love while doing so. The feud was entertaining, the holiday stuff was cheesy in the best of ways, the romance was sweet, the laughs never stopped, and there was an adorable dog included on top of it all. I couldn't have asked for more from Pippa Grant. I loved this one!

I am a huge fan of Pippa Grant and have read almost every books she has written so far.

This one is a hoot, very much a fun twist on Romeo and Juliet with a Christmas town during the off season theme. I loved how she brought the main characters of Dane Silver and Amanda Anderson to live throughout the story, and don't even get me on the dog. Having his POV at the end reminded me of raccoon from her Happy Cat series, it was just so spot on. I have to also say, that as always, the side character help bring this story and town to life.

If you are looking for an amazingly fun, laugh the whole way through read for a cozy fall day, this is a book to definitely pick up!

Title: The Fake Wedding Project
Author: Pippa Grant
Expected Publication: October 2024

Genre: Romance
Read📕:Kindle (NetGalley)

Rating🌟: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice🥵:🌶️
Tropes: fake relationship, family feud
Language: mild language

The description of this book starts with Romeo and Juliet meets Hallmark Christmas movie. And boy did it live up to that I felt like I was reading a hallmark movie that’s Christmas and July. The sweet little town of tinsel and the feud between the two families is such a fun idea!

It starts off by a fake engagement with Amanda and Dane whose families are true rivals and no one knows why. So Amanda and Dane come up with a plan to say they’ve been together and they are getting married next month and both families shut them down and say no we’re getting you guys married here in Tinsel next week so they have a week to convince families that they are madly in love and that they need to end this feud.

Amanda loves New York. She’s a professional dog walker and has a love for the arts and Dane is an engineer who loves his dog and they share a love for eggnoglatte.

Throughout the story, it’s so sweet to watch them slowly fall in love with each other. Knowing Amanda and Dane, are going in knowing that they were just going to be friends and she had no amount of her that ever wanted a boyfriend or to get married and throughout the story, Dane has changed that for her.

Dane’s sister is Amanda’s best friend so he goes through with the engagement for her sake and throughout the story the families just blend together.

I also very much love chili. He is a very lazy dog that just so sweet and so cute and he has his own epilogue from his point of view, and it was just very very cute to add in his point of view and his thoughts.

Delightfully Fun

One of the things I enjoyed most about this book was the dialogue between Amanda and Dane, as well as their inner monologues, which provide some truly hilarious moments. The opening scene was one of the funniest I’d read in years. This was like a Hallmark movie but on the racy side. There are a few f-bombs during inner monologues, but they work for the story, and provide a bit of humor as well. Going to great lengths trying to make peace between the two feuding families is bit exhausting for the pair, but during the effort, they grow and help their loves ones with growth as well. I quite enjoyed the journey.

The Fake Wedding Project by Pippa Grant is another winner from an author that is an auto-buy from me.

When Amanda and Dane get tired of their families continuous feuding they form an agreement to be fake engaged to make hopefully bring peace to their families in their Christmas obsessed hometown. Her family owns the gingerbread store, his the fruitcake store.

Amanda just wants peace and Dane he same, but they have secretly liked each other for years and in typical Pippa Grant style there are funny animals, crazy in the best possible way secondary characters along for the ride while they find their true loves - each other.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Pippa Grant's The Fake Wedding Project is a perfect blend of star crossed romance and festive cheer! The story follows the unexpected and humorous journey of a high school crush turned fake fiancée when Amanda Anderson announces her engagement to Dane Silver upon his return to their whimsical hometown of Tinsel, Michigan. Their attempt to end a long standing family feud through their pretend romance is both heartwarming and entertaining. The story is filled with witty banter, steamy moments, and the inevitable chaos that comes with holiday preparations and meddling families!

The two main characters fake their engagement in order to bring peace to a small town. Their families hate each other so the fake engagement will hopefully stop the ongoing feud.

The story is very sweet. It's also funny and steamy at the same time. Made me laugh and sigh. Love the christmas theme especially.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.
