I love how Gathered at the Table: Celebrating Communion shows a variety of ways that Communion can be done. Communion is one of my favorite parts of a worship service, and I still struggled at times to explain it to my kids. It is a mystery after all! I loved that this book broke down communion in a way that was easy to understand while really keeping the beauty of Jesus inviting us to eat at the center. The illustrations are excellent, and the text explains the wide variety of ways people take communion.

I really enjoyed this book and it was a pleasure to read.

My 7 year old daughter attends a Catholic School so this book was really lovely to read with her and it helps add additional details for her and to further develop her learnings on Communion. The writing style was great, the book was well written and easy to follow.

My daughter really loved the book and I will be looking to get a hard copy of the book for her to keep. The book does a great job of sharing the stories of the Last Supper, what this means to people and how different Christian traditions practice it.

It is 5 stars from me for this one, very highly recommended!

We loved the inclusive illustrations and the rhyming sections that could be recited as family liturgies. This will definitely make its way to our shelf and become a gift for children being dedicated, baptized, etc. I also love that the author included an explanation of different faith practices’ approaches to Communication (Catholicism having a Confirmation class first, Protestants not).

What a great read!

This book is so sweet. My child is at a Catholic school, so this will be on our shelf shortly. She is not quite to First Communion age, but it will be here before we know it. I love the story following childhood in Communion.

Like her book on baptism, this is a nice way to explore the sacrament or ordinance of communion. It talks about different rituals surrounding communion, how you might feel before and after communion, and why we take communion. I like that she emphasizes that communion is about Jesus’ life and not just his death. The book also gives space for you to talk about your own traditions - as a Baptist I would feel comfortable saying we take communion as a symbol but she avoids saying that and focuses instead on the unity of people everywhere taking communion. I think it would be great for talking to kids about rituals/traditions in church or for World Communion Sunday.

Firstly, I love the illustrations in this book, just beautiful!

I like how this book attempts to explain communion to little ones, and overall it does it really well. However, in other places it read a bit complicated than it needs to be. I think the word 'mystery' is a bit complex for small children for example.

Overall though, I really like this book. I like the little rhymes that sum up the book.

A beautifully illustrated and written book that explains communion in layman's terms that kids will understand. I love that this book talks about and includes the different practices regarding communion. This book would be a great addition to a home or church library!

Lovely little story explaining first holy communion in Gathered at the Table. An incredible way to explain the communion stage to children with the addition of facts of religion

Gathered at the Table is a cute story that can help explain the practice of taking communion.
It includes both an account of the first communion as well as an explanation of the symbolism of communion that Christians around the world take even today. It briefly states that some children attend a special class to learn about communion "but no matter how old we are, whether we attend a class or not, we know that in communion, we are one family, joined together in the love of Jesus."
This is book is part story, part poem and I absolutely adore the illustrations.
For anyone who wants to explain the act and symbolism of communion to a child in their life, I recommend this book!

This is good remembrance of Christ died on the cross by repeating and celebrating communion with our children, by gathering together at the table. Children can understand about communion from their early age and get impressed about the importance about spiritual communion.

I found this mix of fiction and non fiction to be a helpful one for anyone wanting to learn more about the Holy Communion.

It contains history and into the present and I really like that the illustrations by Anna Kazami show a lot of diversity, which is always nice to see.

For the right audience I think this is a really good book, so if this is something you are interested in, then the book is released in hardback and kindle edition later in the year.

Whenever you eat bread, remember me. Whenever your drink wine, remember me. Called to the table, to share the wind and bread. I want you to remember me.

Communion is a celebration of Jesus. It unifies us has followers of Christ to remember Jesus and to live for Jesus. This book is well done and would make a great gift for families of young children to share what communion means.

Come to the table and celebrate Jesus!

Gathered at the Table by Glenn’s Nellist (Sept. 9) Using poems, it explains Jesus last supper and his time at the table. Such a profound, kid appropriate explanation of the communion.

Rosie’s Wild Ride by Paige Murray (Oct 7) Her completion doesn’t go quite as planned, but what if we keep going and ask “What if I can?” as we follow big dreams! I can’t wait to get this for my daughter. Loved the illustrations.

Night Magic by Leigh Ann Henson (Sept 23) This was SUCH a fun book of information. Why does it take so long for the eye to adjust to night? Lots of great information with this book and at a child’s level.

The Mountain and the Goat by Slamk Taghaddas (Sept 23) I loved the concept of teaching resourcefulness in this one. Loved the storyline.

Sea Dog Boats by Astrid Sheckels (Jan 14) To learn all about boats, let the dogs lead the way. All about the ABCs and nautical adventures this is a really cute story!

Twelve Days of Summer by Sherri Meret (July 1) “On the first day of summer…” The animals take you on a summer adventure as you sing along! My kids LOVED this adorable book.

Franklin’s Trees by AJ Skenkman (July 1) A story about young President Franklin. A history major myself, this was a really cute informative book.

Outdoor Skills for Kids by Buck Tilton (June 3) My son thought this book was the bees knees. He learned so much from it and kept talking about “when you approach an animal this is what to do..” He was so excited to share all he learned.
