Meet Rosie, the Clydesdale, with big dreams to be a rodeo star, but Rosie is not your typical rodeo horse because she’s too darn big (and maybe a little too gentle and slow). When her young cowgirl friend Oakley decides to give the rodeo a try, the two team up, but the events aren’t designed for big horses like Rosie and nothing goes quite to plan. In this story abut resilience and self-confidence, Rosie and Oakley learn about the importance of using your unique strengths and daring to ask “What if I can?” Based on real-life animals and people with fun horse and rodeo facts, this book is perfect for the horse-love or adventure-seeker.
I LOVED this book! I especially loved that it was written by someone who actually lives on a ranch with a horse named Rosie, a dog named Pete, and a daughter named Oakley. The illustrations are so cute and perfect for this story. I would highly recommend this book to others.
This is an inspiring, animal-filled story of resilience and self-confidence. Rosie is a character that I like since it is published here. I hope that many children would get a very positive insight about relisience from Rosie.
The illustrations are phenomenal and inclusive! The story gives Ferdinand the Bull vibes, but horse edition!
I love stories about someone going for their dream and finding another, better path for themselves along the way. This story is so cute about a girl and her horse trying to fulfill their dreams together.
Based on real horse, Rosie was living her dream being in the big Rodeo. A sweet book with Oakley and Rosie competing together in the Rodeo. It didn't go like they wanted but when it really counted, they could be counted on to save the day. What real heroes look like. Loved the story and kiddos will love this one too.
A special thank you to Zonderkidz and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
A story about a big horse with big dreams! I think boys and girls will love this story about a gentle Clydesdale named Rosie that dreams of being a rodeo star.
Rosie practices and prepares, but when the big day comes they don’t win a single event. A bull escapes and Rosie is the only one big enough and brave enough to help! Despite their rodeo performance, their bravery earns them cheers and they were stars of the rodeo after all!
Could I be biased because its not only about a horse, it's about a Clydesdale horse? Perhaps.
I love that it features this breed as they are a vulnerable breed and are quite rare. My parents actually used to loan a Clydesdale cross horse before I was around, so the breed is close to our hearts.
Rosie's Wild Ride is a fantastic children's story about overcoming adversity and reaching for your dreams. And how even if you don't succeed as long as you try your best things will be okay. The illustrations are beautiful and I live how the author actually has all of the animals mentioned (and many. many more).
This book is one I can say for certain that when it's officially released, I will be getting a physical copy of. I even added it to my calender!
Thank you for the Advance copy,
Rosie's Wild Ride was a Fantastic story of dreams and overcoming adversity. And even if you don't succeed try as best as you can.
It was fantastic to see clydesdale horses mentioned in this story as they are a venerable breed.
This is the sweetest book! This is one of the best children’s book I’ve read lately. The illustrations are just adorable! I’ve always loved Clydesdale horses! It is special to know that this book is based on an actual Clydesdale horse. I love how Rosie saved the day! Such a great message for young children! Definitely a book I would recommend adding to your child’s home library!
Description:
Rosie’s a big, strong horse who dreams of being a rodeo star. But rodeo needs lithe and nimble horses, right?
Liked:
Gorgeous illustrations, so much personality. It’s a nice story about following your dreams and figuring out your niche. Thought it was very cute!
Disliked:
Not a huge fan of rodeo in itself. This book manages to do a good job of skirting the cruelty involved, though.
Would recommend - very sweet and totally beautiful.

An inspiring story about learning to work with what you've got and to overcome the impressions of others to do what you do best. Rosie is a great story about a horse who dreams big and her owner who also dreams big. The two come together to try their hand at all the things in a rodeo that inspires them. I liked that fact that, even though they prepared and were confident they would rule the day, that wasn't the case and their dreams and expectations came crashing down pretty hard. In the end, though, they figured out that they could use their talents in other ways to save the day and become rodeo stars. And that was the lesson that I found the most important. Despite setbacks, Rosie and Oakley persevered.
The artwork is nice and complements the story well. I was worried a bit at the start when it seemed to be rhyming inconsistently but the rhyme must have been a fluke because it was not the way the rest of the book was written. I like a good rhyme for a picture book, but not when it goes away.
All in all, a great book to read or to gift. Oh, and I almost forgot, I loved that the characters were based on Murray's own family and farm.
Received via netgalley as an arc reader
Fantastic kids book
Such a sweet story, the illustrations are beautiful and I love the addition of the rosie/clydesdale/rodeo facts at the back too!
I'll be looking to buy a physical copy for my kids!
HORSE THUNDER!!! This book is super cute. It has darling illustrations by Kristen Humphrey. This sweet story about believing that *just maybe you can* is by Paige Murray (who knows all about the rodeo life)! The characters of Rosie and Oakley will appeal to boys and girls who love rodeo, horses, teamwork...and those who just have big dreams!
