What a blast! I found the characters in this story thoroughly funny. I laughed a lot, especially at the residents of Tree City. The witty banter among all the characters, including the two main ones Max and Skylar, were really well written. This book to me felt like it was meant to be an easy, light read with some fun conflict and romance, and it delivered just that. Max and Skylar were perfectly made for each other.
However, the conflict felt like it came out of nowhere and was resolved too quickly. It seemed rushed, and the story ended kind of abruptly. I think I just wanted more resolution because I was enjoying the storyline so much. Despite this, I really liked the romance and the humorous moments throughout the book. I wouldn't mind revisiting these characters again.
Max Ward is a part time bartender/ park ranger. She’s recently stumbled across a high school classmate getting close to nature and now the two are working together to help a group of people who live off grid. Skylar is a social worker who works with law enforcement including park rangers.
A property owner continually calls in to complain about the off grid people but what is his real reason.
As the two work together they find themselves attracted to each other. That was a bit awkward at first since they were even friends.
Quick, easy, enjoyable story.
