This is a very cute story and it has a lovely art style.
I‘m not too fond of the witches‘ behaviour in the beginning, but the ending makes up for that.

This group of young witches is so wicked. They make trouble for all the kids and pets, steal cookies and socks and make messes... There is one little witch though, that isn't quite so mean, she is kind and smiles. The otehrs think that it is terrible and they try to help her become more witch-like and wicked.

I liked the themes in this book: Kindness is better than wickedness and that there are other ways to get what you want.I think young readers and parents will really like it.

There was a great diversity of race and also disability rep in the characters seen in the illustrations. The illustrations were also colorful and enegaging and fun. I loved the little animals depicted and thought that saying cats were also wicked was cute and funny. Some cats are.

I think young readers will enjoy it.

All witches are mean and not so polite, right? Now hold on just a minute, Halloween night finds a nice little witch who despite the others trying to change her to be like them just wants to be herself. A story about uniqueness and a wonderful lesson in not following the crowd and that it's okay to be yourself. Super cutely illustrated for the younger crowd.

I was given a complimentary copy of this book.

5 ⭐️

This book was adorable! Beautifully illustrated and has a cute story.

“If you are TOO nice then everyone will want to be your friend all of the time.” “Oh yuck, that would be the WOSRT!”
I feel this in my introverted soul.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

The Not-So-Wicked Witch is a beautiful illustrated children's story about a group of little witches. All but one is wicked, and the wicked witches try their best to encourage the kind little witch to be wicked like them. The story is fun as the illustrations show all the wicked mischievous things the wicked witches get up to in causing havoc for others, and subtly shows how the kind witch undoes and makes right all they have done. The moral of the story is that being wicked may seem fun, but kindness is better and makes you feel happier and better in the long run.
This is a fun read with lots of discussion areas to pause through as you read it with the children listening to the story.

The wicked witches try to teach their ways to Littlest Witch, but instead THEY learn that:
Kindness beats wickedness 😉 (most of the time).
The illustrations by the author have delightful characters, are detailed, brilliantly colorful, and totally fun!
Well suited for reading WITH someone of ANY age (not only 4 to 7) including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected proof copy in Adobe Digital Editions provided by Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

This is such a sweet little book. The lesson is that you don't have to do what everyone else is doing just to fit in, and it's better to find your own way to be kind than follow the crowd and be wicked. The art is so cute, and each drawing has little speech bubbles worth reading out loud in silly voices. It would be fun to read with a child and have them do the bits in the speech bubbles. For my part, I was reading it to cat so...I did all the voices.

Finally a Halloween type book that I love reading with my kids. Super cute and fun without anything bad or scary for the littles!

This was a fun cute little picture book about witches and their wickedness or the lack of it for our main character. I am a big fan of Bethan Stevens's picture books. Her stories always make me giggle and the illustrations are very animated and joyful.

A fun read for the little ones!

This is a sweet story about a witch who isn't quite what you'd expect. She may wear a pointy hat, but her heart is full of kindness. The adventures she goes on are fun and full of surprises, showing that even witches can be good friends. Young readers will enjoy the magical moments and learn that being different isn't so bad after all!

The littlest witch doesn’t enjoy being wicked and the other witches don’t understand that at all! They decide to rescue her before she becomes too nice and start planning lessons to help her become wicked. The littlest witch finds it really hard but when the witches decide to steal marshmallows from a birthday party she comes up with a plan to show them that kindness beats wickedness.

Cats, potions, witches and a huge cake – The Not-So-Wicked Witch has all the fun ingredients of a Halloween story intertwined with an important message about being kind to others. The whimsical watercolour illustrations portray a diverse cast of characters. There are so many wonderful details – we love the lessons that the wicked witches give and the way that their cats can be just as wicked too! Speech bubbles convey the witches’ thoughts as they attempt to school the littlest witch who can’t be swayed from staying true to her beliefs.

The Not-So-Wicked Witch is a short, whimsical story about how a kind witch girl shows her witch friends how kindness beats out wickedness.

The art style is a charming watercolor in a beautiful fall color palette. I read it to my 4 year old. She was worried it was going to be too scary (it most certainly was not.)

Something to note that I absolutely loved, one of the children is in a wheelchair at the party and all the children are portrayed in true-to-life variety of colors and hairstyles, etc. That kind of representation is necessary and wonderful to see in children's books. Very cute for spooky season.

On the stillest of nights, witches take flight, but one little witch doesn’t enjoy being wicked. Instead of joining in the mischief, she embraces kindness. When tasked with making a terrible potion, she must choose between staying true to herself or following her fellow witches.

Loved this story!!! We are not a spooky season kind of family so this story was excellent for us. It brought in Halloween/fall characters and the mischievous side of this time of year, but also focused on what is really the most important - going with your gut, choosing kindness and knowing what is right for you even if others are not doing the same. We talk about this with our kids all the time! I love that this sweet little witch figured out a way to teach her peers that being different from the group is totally OK.

I didn't expect it to be this way. The most fun was seeing all the wicked things little witches did. It can be a fun read for children.

i thought that this book was great!

It was easy to read, very well written and it had a great storyline

I loved that this is a book about witches that is actually positive and not just showing them as gruesome and up to no good - that was a really nice touch that we enjoyed

The illustrations in the book were great and they really brought the story to life

It is 5 stars from me for this one - very highly recommended!

Oh man I really did want to love this one. Perhaps because I know a few Wiccans the beginning of the story rubbed me the wrong way. Well that and the fact that I own 5 cats too. Witches and cats are blamed for all sorts of wrongs (stepping on legos???) at the start of the book.
Of course there is one little witch who is kind and thoughtful. She has a dog and not a cat. And of course, even though the other little witches try to turn her bad, she manages to teach them it’s fun to be good….sometimes.
That combined with the washed out colors of the illustrations made this just an okay read for me.
