I really enjoyed this book. Sara and Sam were clearly meant to be together, but the side characters really stole the show. The pacing and flow were spot on, making it easy to get lost in the story.
What I loved most was how real everything felt. The characters didn't just revolve around the main plot; they had their own lives, full of loss and grief, and we got to see how each one coped and moved forward. The town and its people were so full of love, support, and understanding, creating a close-knit family that felt genuine.
Reading this book made me feel like I was part of something bigger. The people of McCall truly felt like home. The story was incredibly endearing, and I hope there’s more to come. You’ll absolutely fall in love with these characters. It’s a beautifully written love story wrapped in a journey of recovery and rediscovery.
McCall is not just the name of a small town somewhere in Idaho.
It is memory, loss, security and family.
When Sara suddenly loses everything she has built, nothing keeps her in Savanna.
She thinks back to the last place she was truly happy and decides to just go back there.
It's about simple gut decisions that bring you everything or nothing.
She meets charming small-town residents who immediately grow on her and also Sam Draper, head of the Lake Patrol Division of the McCall Police Department, who just seems arrogant and helps Sara in a stupid and embarrassing situation but treats her condescendingly.
Two stubborn people meet who don't get along well.
The only problem is that she keeps running into Sam and can't seem to avoid her.
Sam notices Sara's petite, feminine beauty from the first "accident" and is amused, annoyed and attracted to her…
I like small-town romances. They're full of lively, sweet characters who always have their own charms shining through and that's the case here too, but it's also extremely hot in McCall and I don't mean the weather! Lily and Sam, hot...but Sam and Sara, Wow!
I won't say any more ;)
A lot happens! We learn a lot about the past of the two MCs, who have had to endure a lot of pain and loss and you realize pretty quickly how much they have in common despite their differences.
Thanks to the Author and BoldStroke Books for the ARC!
