Cute story and very nice art.
I have always been a fan of stories that include yokai and this one satisfies that particular niche interest, so I recommend it to anyone that wants a light read with fun characters and some interesting monsters, demons and spirits.
Since it's a first volume, it does end on a notable cliffhanger, so be prepared to wait for the next volume to come out.

This was cute and the art is pretty. The concept is unique enough to capture your attention. I don't think I will continue with the series, but I can see why others would really enjoy it. II do wish we got a little more from the characters in this volume, but I'm sure that will be developed in future volumes.

Was basically a monster-of-the-week type story. Concept was interesting, but the characters were kinda bland. The artwork was fine, but didn't really add anything to the story. A quick and easy read. Not my favorite, but I feel like it has potential, so I plan to keep my eye out for the next volume.

This was a fun read. The main characters didn't feel super fleshed out, the plot existed but wasn't heavily present, and I was confused at times about the mechanics of the world, but it has the bones of a good series.

We follow a young man, Kuroe, and his horrendous luck about living on his own before landing a job with divine real estate agents who specialize in spiritual eviction. The only catch? He has to share a living space with his coworker. His new roommate, Nijio, is a bit cool with him at first, though they seem to get along as the story progresses.

I'm not sure if there is supposed to be mounting romantic tension, or if they are genuinely just supposed to be friends, because they both feel like such single-dimensional characters. There is very little growth from either of them across volume, hardly any expansion on either of their backstories, and very little to convince me to come back to read the next volume beyond sheer curiosity.

Osuke's looking for an apartment. He gets drawn into a series of strange living arrangements while helping Nijio relocate spirits.

There is some fine comedy elements here and the art is pretty. Character relationships are pretty tame in this first volume.

I really love tropes like this!!! “I need you/I need you more” type of tropes and then the lines get blurred and their affections for each other grow….

The plot was very touching for the very first volume, can’t wait for the second one!!!

This was so much fun! A normal guy looking for affordable housing is thrust into a world of ghosts and yokai. Always by his side, attractive and competent Nijio.
I loved how we got to meet lots of different ghosts and spirits and how Osuke and Nijio got closer a little bit. Definitely a slow-burn romance but still a fun and dynamic story

**Thank you, NetGalley, for sending an ARC of this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Another ARC review of a BL manga! I'm so happy for the amazing opportunities that keep coming my way recently 🥹.

4.5 ⭐
This time we have a very interesting story where MC gets paid for sharing a room with a hot guy... to do nothing 😂, he’s just bait for ghosts 👻 and other Japanese folklore creatures. And, here comes the best part: the hot guy is actually a real state agent for the supernatural 😭. He’s super powerful and scares them away so he needs MC (apparently his constitution attracts ghosts) to get them to talk to him and do his work. The plot is unique, that’s for sure. The art is also incredible, I especially like the little details with the clothes and facial expressions. It was fun to read with some bittersweet moments while trying to make the spirits move houses.

This is only the first volume and nothing happened with the future main couple. There was a small cliffhanger at the end where two unknown individuals appeared and I only got to see their backs 🙂. I'm anxiously waiting for the next one...

PS: It was a great idea to include a glossary with all the folklore and references to Japanese culture!!

I am biased as these are all the things I love in manga—straight or otherwise: two compatible partners starting as friends and not instalove, Japanese folklore, and hijacks. We're started off with some more obvious Japanese yokai/urban folklore and I look forward to seeing where this goes with different missions.

ARC Rating 5/5 ⭐️ Dam, this was so good.

Like they says, it's the Ghostbusters version of FANGS.

This was exactly as advertised - a cute, funny manga romance. The artwork and drawing style was really good, alongside the storyline.

I finished this book so quickly! It was just so good. I'll definitely read the next volume, too.

Thank you, NetGalley, Kodansha Comics, and Kaho Ozaki, for sending this eARC for review. All opinions are my own.

It was good but quite introductory so I would probably read one more volume before deciding whether to continue reading it. Overall, it was funny and the drawing is beautiful.

I went into the manga completely blind and didn't realize it would be a supernatural one that had ghosts in. That being said I really enjoyed this, and was definitely different to what I normally read manga wise.

I'll definitely check out the next volume as we end on a sort of cliffhanger with two new guys arriving at the building.

Received as a free copy from Netgalley

I couldn't put this manga down. I originally picked it up because of its quirky title and the art work on the cover being the style I normally gravitate towards. After reading the description and finding out it had horror themes in it, the story only interested me even more.

The story revolves around Osuke who ends up rooming with Nijio when he ends up homeless. Together they end up fighting and negotiating with the unwanted spirits in different homes. The story itself with the paranormal elements helps give the story some spooky elements. But for anybody who doesn't like scary, fear not, the art style and comedic elements help balance out the scary elements and stop it from getting anywhere close to actually scaring me.

The pacing of the story was great. Each chapter had it own contained story revolving around the supernatural elements and how the duo resolve those encounters. But the story of the comic does a great job of connecting all these chapters together through the growth of characters personalities and their relationships with one another. That being said, the characters themselves are pretty stereotypical for this type of story. It makes it so everything in the story comes off like something I've read before. It's kind of overplayed. I still enjoyed the story a lot, and the comedy and horror elements carried me through the story, but it would have been better if the characters were more original.

On an editorial note, I really enjoyed the definitions at the end and how they each came with a picture. Great small addition.

So overall, loved the genre and how it was used, loved the artwork, but the characters, especially for the main duo could be improved.

It starts off as Osuke loses his apartment. Now he’s homeless and looking for a job. And tell a random person offered him a place to stay with the roommates. Nijio doesn’t talk much. He helps ghost go to a better place. Now that they are roommates things are going fine until Osuke start seeing ghosts, and now that he sees ghosts, he has the help Nijio. They start to get close and open up a little bit about each other. I like how Nijio is willing to protect Osuke. I also like how they start to discuss how Osuke it’s not a burden and he is helpful and he’s doing just fine in the job he’s in. I also like the artwork of the story in the story line is really great as well. I can’t wait to see what happens next between these two and the next volume.

This was weirdly sweet and endearing for a supernatural manga. They're helping yokai find better homes while also dealing with their own personal trauma and the main characters relationship is just too cute! Thoroughly enjoyed.

A cute and fun supernatural manga with hints of potential romance between main characters. A real estate agency offers ghost removal services for clients whose properties are haunted by ghosts. Our main characters work together to drive out the ghosts. They move into a place, drive out the ghost or spirit, then move into another haunted place, and so on. Along the way we learn a little bit about each character, but not a lot. Hopefully further volumes will give us more backstory.
This was silly and fun and made me laugh out loud a few times. I appreciated that there were all different kinds of ghosts/spirits from Japanese mythology and urban legends in this first volume. This was not scary. There wasn’t any kissing or spice, but there seems to be a possibility of romance.
Overall, I enjoyed this and look forward to following these characters and their shenanigans in future volumes.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an arc in exchange for review.

Osuke is excited to finally be on his own. Not wanting to burden his family, he sets off to find his own apartment after losing his original place. As if the stars were aligned, he finds an opportunity for both work and a place to crash- the only downside is having to share a room with his new handsome work partner, Nijio. Not only that, but Osuke's new job involves him and Nijio teaming up to exterminate Yokai seeking refuge in other people's homes. Osuke is quick to realize that he seems to be a magnet for the supernatural, and he's forced to navigate this all-too-new world with his handsome (and occasionally stubborn) partner Nijio.

This was a lighthearted introduction to the world of Yokai and a budding friendship with potential for more. We get to see common Yokai, and learn a bit about some new ones. Zashiki-warashi is so cute! I love the little blurb descriptions the author puts at the end, and enjoy the humor put into the story. 4/5 stars.

I honestly enjoyed this quite a bit. It's a bit like if Drug&Drop by CLAMP was good and had a cohesive plot. I enjoyed that the two main characters don't instantly fall head over heels for each other, but it appears that they are slowly developing their relationship with one another. I'm also a sucker for the "two people with complimentary power" trope! It's such a fun trope, and this story explores it in a fun way. The way the story begins is a little goofy, but honestly, it's fine. The art style is also very pretty!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

A really cute and highly entertaining story. Very lovable characters as well. This story is definitely something I would look forward to continuing to read and see progress.

I received an ARC of My Noisy Roommate: The Roof Over My Head Comes With Monsters and a Hottie, volume 1 by Kaho Ozaki published by Kodansha from NetGalley and Kodansha in exchange for an honest review.

I knew I would enjoy My Noisy Roommate based on the premise alone. Supernatural x BL!? Hello, that is my brand! Between xxxHolic, FANGS, and Demon Prince of Momochi House, give me alllll the supernatural, please! However, I was surprised at just how hard I fell for this story. At first glance, it seems easy to group this story with the countless other quirky BL one-shots that are fun but lack depth. With My Noisy Roommate, this is far from the case.

My Noisy Roommate: The Roof Over My Head Comes With Monsters and a Hottie is by Kaho Ozaki and published by Kodansha. This is Kaho Ozaki’s debut manga in the US, but they do have two other manga.

In typical BL fashion, the main character Osuke is down on his luck. He is recently homeless as his apartment plans fell through. A strange man overhears his struggles and offers him an apartment to live in – the catch? He has to room with a super hot but aloof guy named Nijio. After a crazy encounter with a yuki-onna, Osuke discovers the strange man and Nijio are in cahoots. They work together as part of a supernatural relocation real estate service. Since Osuke has nowhere to go, he officially accepts the job and takes on ghosts, spirits, and curses with Nijio by his side.

As a supernatural fan, I immediately loved how detailed the yokai encounters are. While each chapter is “monster of the week”-ish with the different yokai, the author spares no details on their history and how they play into the story. It’s clear to me, the supernatural element is a key player and not just background noise for the love story. It reminded me of xxxHolic and the spirits we encounter there. Also shout out to the amazing translator, Leo McDonagh, who provided an extremely detailed translator note section. The inclusion of these details helps illustrate further how important the supernatural element is to the story. Plus, as a nerd, it just adds more items to my “Well, actually“s I keep in my back pocket.

Back to Nijio and Osuke – I LOVE these two and their dynamic. Since the story is from the point of view of Osuke, we can see him thinking how HOT Nijio is. He’s a little scared of Nijio, but that fear slowly turns into curiosity and maybe a little something more. Nijio is clearly apprehensive towards Osuke, but I’m given the impression he’s slowly breaking down whatever walls Nijio has up.

I can already tell that the story is going to give us a little bit of a slow burn in turning these two into lovers. I am thrilled! Don’t get me wrong, I love fast-moving romance too. But with a story like My Noisy Roommate, the slow pace allows for a good buildup of the characters and the action.

My Noisy Roommate is different, intoxicatingly so. Since my initial reading, I can’t get it out of my head. Nijio and Osuke’s dynamic is refreshing. The physical nature of their job but the potential slow burn of their relationship has me at the edge of my seat. With Osuke’s spirit abilities and Nijio’s powers, it seems like their bodies will be a few steps ahead of their hearts. The mangaka has such a great story in their hands and I’m excited to follow along.
