The book is dark, intense, twisty and creepy. You can expect blood and gore. The setting is dark. This is not a usual vampire story but this is more than that. Sloane’s husband surprises her with a birthday getaway on her 36th birthday. But to her surprise, it was not with him. It was with her best friend Naomi. Things don’t go as she planned or wanted them to be but they end up with mysterious strangers. And their life turns upside down. The book takes a delicious dark turn that changes their destiny forever.
All the events in the book kept me on the edge. It was all unfathomable for Sloane. Other than blood and gore, there are some steamy scenes. I love the author’s books. Are you looking for a mind bending horror? Read it
Thanks to the Publisher for giving access to this book.

I am always thirsty for Rachel Harrison's books! So Thirsty did not disappoint! Believe me when I say, you will want to sink your teeth into this bloody good book! This is a great book to add to your fall, spooky season reading!
Sloane Parker is not looking forward to her birthday this year, another trip around the sun just reminds her that she is getting older. When her husband surprises her with a weekend away with her best friend, Naomi, she looks forward to spending time with her spunky, live life to the fullest best friend!
Slone wants wine tastings; Naomi wants fun but neither envisioned their weekend would be so bloody life changing. An invitation to a party at a local home changed everything for both Sloane and Naomi.
I found So Thirsty to be a fun, entertaining, and enjoyable book. I enjoyed the characters and their plight. This book focuses on friendship, life changing events, growth, decisions, living, and taking chances.
Rachel Harrison has delivered yet again!

Intense and well-penned vampire novel, with a feminist edge.
I struggled with the characterisation of this. I don't often feel that I'm too young to read some things, but I struggled to relate to Sloane, maybe I just didn't enjoy the narrative tone. 3 stars, might be better for some people!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC!
3.5 stars
Rachel Harrison writes fun, rompy, women-led horror, and So Thirsty is no different.
Sloane is about to turn 36, and she hates it. She's terrified of aging, but seems to be even more scared of change of any kind. She's quite happy with her job, her peach tree, and her husband, Joel, who's incapable of keeping it in his pants. When Joel surprises her with a weekend away with her best friend, Naomi, for her birthday, Sloane's certain he's cheating on her again, but that becomes the least of her problems after a night out with Naomi leaves them both with eternal consequences.
I'd recommend So Thirsty to anyone who's looking to dip their toe into horror but is a bit wary of the genre, because while there are some gory bits a lot of the novel is focused on Sloane and the way she feels about her life, and her friendship with Naomi who is unlike her in so many ways. Where Sloane is cautious, Naomi is wild, but the two of them have been closer than sisters since they were teenagers.
For me, though, this wasn't my favourite of Harrison's work that I've read so far. It's an incredibly easy, fun read - I sped through it in two sittings - but it didn't do a lot of what I wanted it to. I first heard this novel pitched as Thelma and Louise with vampires and I absolutely love that film, but for a novel about friendship, Sloane and Naomi spent the majority of So Thirsty at odds with one another. Writing female friendships, and how messy they can be, is something Harrison explores in a lot of her work, from short stories to her novels The Return and Cackle, but at this point all of the friendships I've read from her have felt very similar. I wanted So Thirsty to give me that ride or die feeling that Thelma and Louise has, and instead Sloane and Naomi spent most of the novel with a group of vampires, one of whom had a vaguely instalove connection with Sloane that she was weirdly okay with considering he's a bit of a creeper. At least I don't think I'd be flattered if I found out an immortal vampire had been watching me sleep.
I did still enjoy this book, though! The moments where Sloane and Naomi were on the same page were really well done--in fact, I almost wish this novel had gone down the My Best Friend's Exorcism route and followed them as teenagers, simply because some of the glimpses we got of them at that age were some of my favourite parts of the novel, but also completely understand Harrison's desire to focus her novels around women in their 20s and 30s.
So not my favourite of Harrison's novels but certainly not my least favourite either!

So, you know how sometimes your marriage is getting difficult and your birthday is coming up so your husband buys you a weekend away with your best friend? And then you get in a car with strangers and go to an orgy? Yeah. Well imagine that going badly. That's this book, basically. I've like Rachel Harrison before. Can't say I did this time.

So thirsty by Rachel Harrison has a fun and intriguing premise. Readers who have enjoyed her previous novels will be in for a treat with this one. Similar pacing and storytelling but with a new theme. Unfortunately this wasn’t a hit for me, I enjoyed the set up and the atmosphere but I found it hard to believe or enjoy the character development. The two main characters seemed immature and while the friendship was supposed to be toxic, I personally found it to lack depth. I was hoping for more character growth and for the friendship to grow stronger but unfortunately I didn’t get that. There were parts of this story that I found very entertaining and some of the more ‘horror’ aspects were well written but for me this was not a horror novel. However I realise that while this book was not for me, there are many readers out there who will truly enjoy this story.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

This is the second Rachel Harrison novel I have finished reading although I have started Such Sharp Teeth and I have come to the conclusion that Harrison is either an author you will enjoy no matter what the subject matter or you won’t. I think I fall somewhere in the middle though. I did enjoy Black Sheep and I am enjoying Such Sharp Teeth (but I love werewolves and shifters). With So Thirsty I enjoyed the majority of the book but I did feel some of the themes were similar to previous works. This isn’t a bad thing but I would have liked perhaps the opposite attracts friendship to have turned sapphic perhaps to change things up a bit. That said I didn’t mind Henry but I digress.
In terms of story, pacing and theming I did think So Thirsty hit the mark. I liked exploring the long lasting friendship and seeing Sloane and Daisy and how despite being opposites they have stuck through it all. I did enjoy the horror aspects and of course the paranormal. I did like the vampire side characters. The pacing I think worked well.
All in all I did enjoy So Thirsty just not as much as I enjoyed Black Sheep. It is still a solid story that deals with female friendships and female empowerment with the added extra of paranormal and horror.
As always thank you to Titan Books for the copy to review. My review is always honest and truthful.

Rachel Harrison explores the story of a woman discovering that her nice, quiet life isn't everything she wanted it to be, and realises that as she's growing older her chance to break away and actually be happy may be long behind her. However, thanks to a series of extra-ordinary events she might just get what she never knew she needed.
Sloane Parker is a woman whose life looks good on the outside, she's married to a caring, successful husband, she's got a great job at a food company with security. She has everything she might need. However, her husband is a serial cheater, she's bored in her work, and she's slowly watching the signs of ageing creeping in when she looks in the mirror. She desperately needs to break out of the rut that she's found herself trapped in, but doesn't know how to do so.
When her husband arranges a trip away for Sloane, along with her best friend Naomi, it offers Sloane a break from her life. Naomi, who she's been friends with her whole life, is an almost complete opposite to Sloane. She lives a wild life, travelling the world, sleeping with a lead singer, attends parties and does drugs with celebrities. She's living the other ideal, the wild fantasy that very few get to have. Despite their differences, however, the two of them are fast friends, and their trip away is the perfect opportunity for them to spend some much needed time together.
However, when the two of them meet Henry, a charming gentleman who doesn't hide his attraction to Sloane, it introduces the two women to a frightening new world, one that might offer Sloane the escape she needs even if it comes at a great cost.
I've been a little coy so far in talking about one of the main subjects of So Thirsty, but with this being a horror book, having a title that references thirst, and the cover of the book depicting a goblet overflowing with red liquid I don't think I'd be accused of spoiling things too much to say yes, the book has vampires in it. Vampires have often been a sexual creature, and there are much smarter and more articulate people than myself who can talk about this topic; but vampires are about sex, they're about breaking taboos, and focus on transgression.
Because of this, using vampires as a way of breaking Sloane away from her quite, boring life fits perfectly. Henry isn't just a vampire offering someone a new life (un-life), he's the handsome stranger seducing someone into an affair. The vampirism is an obvious vehicle to talk about cheating, to question if Sloane is seeking freedom from her old life or simply excitement, and if it's right for someone to cheat on their partner if it breaks them free of a miserable life and opens up a new one to them. And it gets to do all of this whilst being wrapped in a nice horror packaging.
Harrison using the vampires as a vehicle to focus on Sloane does mean that they're used somewhat as a device, rather than being the focus. What I found this meant was that there were times where Harrison slipped into the traditional and the expected. Having in the past done some new and interesting things with the realms of the paranormal and the horror genre I was waiting for some new twist on vampires here, something that made them stand apart from the others. But they were fairly normal, things happened the way you'd expect them to, and the history and lore doesn't really feel hugely inventive. And whilst this is a little disappointing it's not a tragedy, as there's still a lot in this book to keep your attention, and perhaps not doing something with the vampires that would draw all of your attention there means that your focus can be kept on the true heart of the story; Sloane.
The friendship between Sloane and Naomi plays a big part of the book, and this is something that ties into Harrison's writing. Her books tend to have a focus on women, to the point where they're often labelled as feminist writing. Whether or not they're feminist pieces, or simply get called that because the female characters get treated like real people and have well rounded characters isn't up to me, but a female writer telling stories about women do tend to be more reliable and impactful, and Harrison certainly fits into this mould. I very much enjoyed the fact that our two female leads didn't quite fit into the expected for two life long female friends. They're incredibly different, and as such don't always gel well together. There are times when their friendship feels a little toxic, and there are others where you can see the deep love they have for each other. It felt messy, heartfelt, annoying, and very, very real.
Whilst So Thirsty is a horror book, and it doesn't shy away from the vampires and the blood and savagery that comes with them it's also very much a human story, one that puts its lead character at the heart of everything. So whether you're looking for a story about blood sucking monsters, or about the struggles of a woman trapped in a life she doesn't want, So Thirsty will quench you.

i finished this a few days ago and have just been sitting with my feelings taking it all in ever since — rachel harrison really is THE moment and every release is a delight to read (which makes it more necessary for me to finally go read all her older releases!).
such sharp teeth, black sheep and so thirsty all stand out so strongly to me in different ways and i really loved how so thirsty took you on an unexpected journey that is so unalike other vampire stories out there.
it’s not your regular ol’ vampire story, though it does have sexy vampires and some steamy scenes, but it’s much more about sloane’s journey towards self acceptance and love despite growing older — and despite suddenly finding herself down a new, eternal path in life that she now has to navigate.
so thirsty felt like such a melancholic read in a lot of ways and while i didn’t fully relate to sloane in every way (though the growing older and seeing it in your mirror hit hard lmao) i really loved her as a character! it’s definitely a perfect autumn read and i’ll have to get a physical copy so i can reread it when it’s colder outside!

This fast-paced, bleak, feminist story kept me on my feet! I was hooked from the get go and I felt so honoured that I got to read such an interesting book. I've recently been getting back into a lot of vampire media, and this one delivered! Definitely perfect with the changing season, and Halloween soon to arrive.
I am not great with gore or horror/paranormal fiction but I could not put this down during those scenes! I thought they were well written, even if the characters felt a little underdeveloped but I will excuse it since a lot would sometimes go on in this book.
Rachel Harrison has become an author who I have to keep an eye out for, and I will be definitely be checking out her other novel and any other future work!
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for a free, voluntary review.

The vampire renaissance is upon us!!! Funny and gory So Thirsty is completely captivating. I read it pretty much in one day, I couldn’t put it down.

4.5⭐️ I absolutely LOVED it! A vampire, feminist horror with the perfect amount of gore, humour and friendship. I mean what more could you want? Rachel’s writing style is so addictive and as a result I absolutely devoured this story (no pun intended 😉🧛🏻♀️). Such a fun read!
Thank you Titan Books for the early copy 🖤

Sloane is dreading her birthday, but when her husband books her a surprise trip, with her childhood friend Naomi she is happy, but also not as she doesn't like surprises
Sloane is trying to deny the monotony of her life and her cheating husband, and Naomi is living free and makes plans for a fun night out with some new friends
But when things end up going more horrifyingly wrong than they could have imagined, the two find find themselves having to leave their Iives behind and deal with bigger problems....
The themes throughout this book on friendship really touched a cord with me. I loved Sloane and Naomis imperfect perfect friendship and how it has gone through so much. The themes on taking control of your life and how hard it is to just admit your true feelings is on point, and I guess when you have the chance to live forever, you need to address these issues.
Some great tough themes addressed in what was also a very engrossing vampire tale. Highly recommend this one.
Thank you to NetGalley and Titan for the review copy, all opinions my own. Out 10 September!

I absolutely adore Rachel Harrison’s writing and will pick up anything she publishes.
This felt more reminiscent of Cackle than any of her other books, in my opinion. It has the same friendship and whimsical elements with a dash of gore as well.
The two best friends that centre the story had my sort of humour and I thought they complemented each other well.
Rachel has an unnerving quality in her writing that I’m yet to find elsewhere.
Thank you so much for the eArc

Let me start this review by saying that I am a big fan of this author. I have read all of her books and liked them all, so when she has a new release out it goes straight to the top of my TBR.
One of the many things I enjoy about this authors books is the writing style. It all flows so well and is easy to read.
I also love the humour and cosy horror style that is threaded throughout them.
So having said all that it pains me to say this one wasn't up there with my favourites by her.
I did like the plot idea and I thought it was a refreshing take on a vampire story.
Unfortunately I didn't get very invested in the characters. It felt like the reader never really got to know them as everything happened so quickly. That was another slight issue I had with this book. Once the actual 'thing' happens, not a lot else does. It seemed a bit flat for me.
I also didn't think the slight romance element worked. The connection between Sloane and Henry never felt real to me so it was hard to be swept away with the story.
However, I felt it started off well and as per usual I enjoyed the style and humour but I wanted more from the plot.
So, whilst this was a book that you can read very quickly (I did it in two sittings) and it would be good book to read in the fall, it wasn't my favourite by this author.

Horror, Gore & Vampires = One happy Siân
I’ve grown up with vampire horror books but none are quite like this one, I feel this is such a unique take on it that I was devouring each page.
Sloane goes away on a weekend with her best friend Naomi to celebrate her birthday. Very reluctantly she goes out one night where everything changes.
What I also loved about this is how relatable Sloane and Naomi are, we all know someone like them, whether they’re a risk taker or sensible. I loved how this was a book of getting out of your comfort zone and living life, even if it’s been given to you in unexpected ways.
100% recommend if you like
- Vampires
- Gore
- Creepy scenes
- Friendships
- Fast paced
This would be PERFECT for spooky season.
I think this book is tied first place with Such Sharp Teeth for me! Absolutely love them!
I would love to see how Sloane would react if she met Rory!
Thanks so much to @netgalley, @titanbooks and of course @rachelharrisonsghost 🖤!!

Dark and twisted this outing from Rachel Harrison is a delicious taste of horror and gore. Quirky and almost violently addictive.

https://fanfiaddict.com/review-so-thirsty-by-rachel-harrison-2/ we all know rachel harrison never misses, this is no exception, her female characters are unrivalled, and it was nice to see her get a little more gruesome this time. I have a full write up at fanfiaddict.com.

Funny, bloody and just all around well written. Had a blast while reading this and anyone who likes vampires should try it.

Another juicy bite of horror from Rachel Harrison.
As much a story about friendship as it is about bloodsuckers, So Thirsty is funny, bloody, sexy and thrilling. I felt this book was a little rushed over all - I wanted to stay at the impressive resort for longer, and some plot lines rattled through so rapidly I was left a little, well, thirsty for more. But you're never in bad company with Rachel Harrison.
