Tanner has never found his place in the world travelling the world in the army and supporting forces since. Then when his grandmother dies and requests him to find where he belongs, whilst also giving him the name and location of his father a new path unfolds.
Kaitlyn is a single mom and local doctor. She goes above and beyond for her patients even helping those who cannot afford it. However, her own daughter is pushing her buttons.
Jasper is an old man physically scarred from a traumatic event in his past. His wife and kids are gone and he has been living alone with his dog for a long time. However, he feels an obligation to protect the forest and the animals within where he lives which can get him into trouble.
This felt like old school Nicholas Sparks and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters all had depth and the relationships felt genuine and earnest. It wasn’t the fastest paced story, but it was filled with compassion and I was invested to find out how it ended.

ten years ago, i was an avid reader of nicholas sparks’ books, i’ve read 12 (now 13) of his books, the last one being the longest ride in 2013
i requested the arc on netgalley (but have only just gotten round to reading it now)
the story follows, tanner, a lonewolf, whose only living relative has just passed away but in her last moments she gives tanner something, the name of his biological father, whom he’s never met. tanner is fresh out of the army and makes his way to asheboro, in search of his biological father. there he meets kaitlyn, a single mum to casey and mitch. kaitlyn and tanner begin a friendship that quickly forms into something more, but tanner isn’t sure he’s ready to do what he’s never done in his life, settle down.
in between all of this, we learn of jasper, an eighty-three year old man, who has suffered so much loss and tragedy in his life, he has no family left and he lives alone in a cabin with his dog arlo. he spends time with kaitlyn’s son, mitch and often contemplates his life and his past. but news of a white deer being spotted in the forests near by, he seems to have a purpose again, that purpose is to try and protect this deer, which results in jasper getting hurt, but in turn brings his life a new meaning
i wouldn’t say this was my favourite nicholas sparks book, but like all his other books i’ve read, i cried, which is tell tale sign that i enjoyed it. it sometimes felt slow and i struggled to engage in some parts but overall it was a beautiful, bittersweet story about life, family and second chances.

Typically perfect Sparks book. Absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend to others that enjoy Nicholas Sparks.

Thank You NetGalley for the ARC of Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks in return for my honest review.
I really enjoy reading books by Nicholas Sparks I know once I start reading I just won't stop until I've finished and this one is no exception, its a beautifully written story of love and families perfect for a cozy night in.

At first I wasn’t sure I was going to get on with the book, it was very all American and I thought I wouldn’t be a fan. All I can say is I am glad I persevered!
The stories of Tanner, Kaitlin and Jasper start separately but intertwine to become the most heart wrenching tale. I was rooting for all of them, in particular Jasper.
Beautifully told, will stay with me for a long time to come.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Nicholas Spatks is a great book & this was everything i expected from him.
Loved it!
Excellent.
Thanks for the opportunity to read & review it.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of Counting Miracles. I always have high hopes for a Nicholas Sparks novel and this one did not disappoint at all. It was fabulous all the way through. I wondered for part of the novel what relevance Jasper's POV had to the story but all was revealed. It is a great, feel good story that tugs at your emotions. Bonus points for me for having a dog character in the story! Love it! If you love Nicholas Sparks you will have the best time reading this book!

Another great story from Nicholas Sparks!
This book follows three main characters - Tanner, Kaitlyn and Jasper. At the outset you realise that their lives must intersect somehow, but initially the links seem tenuous. As I read more of their individual stories, I was pulled in more and more and the second half of the book, in particular, I found very hard to put down!
It's an emotional read - a mix of love and tragedy with some focus on family and the bible. Highly recommended.
Many thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved this book. I've been reading Nicholas Sparks novels for a number of years and they always manage to make me cry but come away from the story with it stuck in my head for days after. This one was no different.
It's a wonderfully written read with detailed characters, settings and such heartfelt storytelling. Highly recommended.

This is the first book I've read from this author, which is quite surprising given how popular he is.
I found it a really sweet, gentle read.
He has a way of making the words seem so beautiful, and you want to keep reading and reading and reading.
Whilst the story was quite predictable, it was nice and I liked the ending.
I liked the characters although I felt I didn't really know Jasper, as well as I'd like.
I really enjoyed it.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t expect to be quite so moved by this book, but I was, and I am not ashamed to say I did shed a tear! This is a really lovely story, beautifully written, about love and family. The characters are all so very real and perfectly formed although not perfect themselves. It’s a really compelling story and I would happily read a part 2.

I was so happy to have received a DRC by Nicholas Sparks! The story was really lovely and an easy read but it felt quite surface level. I would've loved to learn more about Tanner's history, and Kaitlyn's. The ending wasn't rushed but I felt that the details were lacking. so the story felt a bit incomplete for me, it just ended.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the DRC!

Another great read from Nicholas Sparks. I liked the characters, especially Tanner, Jasper and Kaitlyns teenage children who were good kids, well adjusted and kind. It took me a while to warm to Kaitlyn as she seemed to be a little pushy with her attraction and pending romance with Tanner, expecting too much commitment from him after only a few short dates but I did quite like her as the story progressed. I wasn't quite as gripped by Jasper's parts of the story and although I liked him I felt these parts were a tad too long. I also would have liked to see the outcome or justice (if any) meted out to the nasty gang involved in Jasper's story. All in all this book had much to enjoy and will surely be another big success for Mr. Sparks. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for my review.

Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks is a heartwarming and emotional story about love, loss, and finding where you truly belong. The novel follows three main characters—Tanner, Kaitlyn, and Jasper—whose lives intersect in unexpected ways. Tanner, a man who has never settled anywhere, searches for his long-lost father in Asheboro, where he meets Kaitlyn, a divorced mother of two, and Jasper, an older man haunted by a tragic past.
The characters are well-developed, and the story beautifully weaves together themes of family, healing, and redemption. I especially enjoyed how Jasper’s heartbreaking backstory added depth to the novel, while Tanner’s journey of self-discovery and Kaitlyn’s resilience were equally compelling.
While the romance between Tanner and Kaitlyn was sweet, I wished there had been more focus on their relationship towards the end. Overall, it’s a touching read that offers valuable life lessons and showcases Sparks’ signature style of storytelling. A must-read for fans of heartfelt, uplifting stories.

Absolutely brilliant, read it in pretty much one sitting, couldn’t put it down wanting to know what happened next. I was in bits by the end.
A definite must read

Counting Miracles is a truly beautiful read, filled with a heartfelt and emotional story. This is the first time I've read a book from three peoples POV. I loved how the story intersected and how perfectly Jaspers early life flashbacks fit in. Jasper's tragic loss of his entire family is so heartbreaking and I felt that Nicholas Sparks writing captured the sensitive nature of the story. The book provides some valuable life lessons and portrays the true ups and downs of people's lives. Tanners story shows that even when you're lost, life has a way of leading you down the right path to settle down.
I enjoyed reading about Tanners and Kaitlyn's romance, however I would have loved to hear more about how things developed towards the end. I felt that the relationship was a little lacking in places. I do understand that the focus was more on Tanner's need to find his father and Jasper's backstory.
The symbolism of the white dear was written perfectly, but I feel the sub story of the two boys hunting it was at some points unnecessary. Considering no action was taken against the Littleton Boy's, I the story was lacking there life lessons also,
I really liked this book and would recommend to others looking for a warm and family orientated feel.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

This was a powerful emotional read. Heartwarming and hopeful.
Tanner Hughes is trying to find his natural father following the death of his grandmother who brought him up. This brings him to Asheboro and to meet Kaitlyn Cooper - local medic and single mum. There is an immediate attraction.
83 year old Jasper lives alone with Argo, his old dog in a cabin by the National forest. He is obsessed with protecting the white deer.
The story of each connects and each finds a way to look towards the future with hope.
One to be recommended.

I just loved this book from the start so much so that I read it in one go and one day it was such an amazing story and so heartbreaking and heartwarming too. I just thought it was beautiful and it just shows that you need to have hope as you never know what is going to happen to you and yes some can be bad but also some can be good too and that’s what you have to hold on too.
I would highly recommend reading this book if you love Nicholas Sparks books but also if you love that no matter what you think will happen something can always change the outcome but in a good way.
I would like to thank Sphere and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book early.

This is the first Nicolas Sparks book I have read and it won’t be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters were well written and believable and the storyline intense.

Beautiful new book from Nicholas Sparks, full of wisdom, love and life.
Tanner has never lived in one place for long but now retired from the armed forces, he has tried various paths to heal his past. With the loss of his last remaining relative his grandmother says something that he has to explore, When his journey takes him to Ashboro in Virginia he meets a very special family.
Kaitlyn is a divorced mother of two, a doctor who cares about her community. Then there is Jasper who has been dealt some seriously low blows through life, and keeps himself to himself with his dog Arlo.
The sensitivity and loving insight within this story is truly beautiful. There were no second guesses or predictability for me in the tale, which surprised me. On one level a pure and simple love story and on another a way of living a true and fulfilling life. A lot of wisdom and great food for thought, and although there is a lot from the Bible you don’t need to be a devout Christian to see the true meaning and value here. Charming engaging warm and just brilliant.
A gorgeous treasure and treat to read.
Thank you NetGalley and Sphere was a wonderful gift of an early read!
