Tanner Hughes learns about his father's name and last known location from his dying grandmother. After her death he goes in search of his father where he meets with Dr. Kaitlyn mother of 2 and wishes to spend more time with her. But, he may not stay to commit to a relationship and the short duration may not be enough for either of them. Then there's Jasper who's been alone since a traffic accident that took everything from him. Arlo his dog is the only company he is happy with but may be there's hope for him after all.

I liked that the story is about 2 characters who are nearly 40 or in 40s and are mature enough to hold a conversation without miscommunicating or shying away from reality. The dynamo between Kaitlyn and her kids were very close to reality. The romance was okay but I wish they'd spent more time together. There's too much biblical references and religious quotes to my liking and somehow I felt that affecting the flow of the story.

A warm and gentle romance with beautiful characters. The story line and each individual character are really well thought out. The novel flows with a decent pace and you will definitely want to keep going back to see how it unfolds. Well worth a read.

Another fantastically heart warming book by the very talented Sparks, I really enjoy his books.
This book introduces us to firstly a doctor , Kaitlyn, and her two children. One of Kaitlyns patients, Jasper has known tragedy in his life and likes to keep himself to himself spending time alone with his dog Arlo.
New in town Tanner is looking for clues about who his dad is and immediately hits it off with Kaitlyn.
The story just flows perfectly.

It's been a minute since I've read a book by Nicholas Sparks, and I have to say this one certainly did not disappoint.

Sparks led us into a rollercoaster of emotions as we got to know the characters. It was impossible not to adore them and appreciate the hidden meanings and life lessons each of them bought. Jasper, of course, was a favourite for me. He was tough and resilient, but underneath his armour, you could tell his past had broken him.

I noticed very mixed reviews for this. Some were mainly because of the number of references about God and bible verses. I don't understand how that could take away how good this book was. If anything, I think it truly added to the storyline as it led me to understand and get to know the characters even better.

It is an absolutely beautiful story, well written and thought-provoking. Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

Tanner Hughes had been raised by his grandparents as his mother died during childbirth. When his grandmother tells him his father's name on her deathbed he then goes to look for him. During his search he ends up finding love with a single mother along the way.
This is a nice feel good read but personally I expected more from this author as I usually love his books.

This is fairly typical of a Nicholas Sparks novel, so if you’ve liked previous books then you’ll like this one. It’s a romantic drama which does end up being a bit predictable, not that that is necessarily a bad thing. I found the constant reference to religion and bible quotes a bit distracting and I felt they just spoilt the flow of the writing. An easy read that will leave you with an ending that satisfies most.

Tanner Hughes is a retired army veteran who was raised by his grandparents. After his grandmother passed he was given the name of the father he never knew - along with the town he was from.
Kaitlyn Cooper lives in a small town where she is the local physician and single mum to two kids.
The two meet when Tanner has been in town for less than 24 hours and instantly feel a connection.
Mr Jasper is an older neighbour who has a rough history where he lost his family in a horrible accident. He lives near Kaitlyn with his dog Arlo.

I’ve been a fan of Nicholas Sparks for years and got super excited to see a new book was coming out!
Having read his books/watched some film adaptations before I knew I was in for an emotional read and was not disappointed. I found myself rooting for Tanner and Kaitlyn to realise how they felt about each other while reading the chapters about Jasper trying to puzzle out how the two stories were connected - outwith Jasper’s friendship with Kaitlyn’s son.
All in all it was a cute romantic story - exactly what you’re expecting if you’re a fan of Nicholas Sparks!

When Tanner Hughes arrives in Asheboro looking for his father, a man he never met but happens to find so much more. An instant connection with a local doctor and her children as well as a missing elderly man sets him off course but leads him to a home he never knew he had.

Not my favourite Nicholas Sparks but it certainly wasn't bad - I wasn't too invested in the romance or Jaspers story but I did really love the ending. It sucks there was no justice for the LOSERS trying to kill the white deer but I'm so glad she survived.

This inspired me to try and go back and read some of Sparks' other books that I've loved in the past!

A heartbreaking but beautiful read from this author, I have read many books from this author and he never disappoints.

The characters all have their own story to tell and it is such great storytelling from the beginning until the end, just great.

Thank you to Netgalley and Little Brown Book Group for this ARC which I can thoroughly recommend.

Counting Miracles is the new story from Nicholas Sparks. It will warm your heart as much as it will break it, in the delicately balanced way that Sparks can achieve.

The story centres on Tanner, a Delta force member who was raised by his grandparents and has chosen to. move from place to place without ever putting down roots. Only recently learning his father's name and location he sets out to see if he can discover more about a man he never knew. But his life takes an unexpected turn when he meets and has an instant connection with Kaitlyn in the small town of Asheboro.

Kaitlyn is a divorced mom of two and at first shy to risk heartache all over again. Meeting Tanner, however, makes her decide to throw caution to the wind and jump start that part of her life again which has been missing.

The pair's relationship is told from their perspectives, giving us a deeper understanding of all their emotions, from happiness to fear, for both characters. Jasper is also integral to the story, a man who lives alone in the woods with his dog Arlo, he's haunted by the tragedy of his life and has lost faith that God is on his side.

The question is, now that their paths have crossed, what does the future hold for Tanner, Kaitlyn and Jasper?

Counting Miracles was a heartwarming, wholesome read. It was a small town romance with lots of elements of found family. While I enjoyed the book, at times it felt a little predictable, and I found the inclusion of bible verses a little jarring. Overall, I would recommend this story if you enjoy a lighthearted romance with a positive message.

Rating:☆☆☆.5 stars

This is the second book I've read by Nicholas Sparks. I find his writing style very easy to follow and quickly became engrossed in the story and characters. The plot felt slow-paced overall, but the swift bond between Kaitlyn and Tanner provided an interesting contrast. I appreciated their relationship and Tanner's connection with her children, although I felt it could have been developed more gradually. Additionally, I found the ending predictable, but it didn't diminish my enjoyment of the book.

This is the first novel I have read by Nicholas Sparks. I can't say it was the best experience but I think I understand why it is so successful.

Counring miracles is an intense story that has its moments of slowness and others where everyone seems to go very fast. The romantic bond between the protagonists seemed to me to develop very quickly and it is not something that I like to read in novels, but at the same time, I feel that it was interesting how it was presented in context with everything that was happening around it.

I really liked how he managed to present and face each of the characters and how they linked together.

The story has many biblical references that at times made it lose its rhythm and hook a little.

It is not the author's best story, surely. At least I think I could read other things by him and connect much better. This is my first book by him and I know it won't be the last.

Another great offering from Nicholas Sparks. This was a beautiful story following three strangers and the surprising way their lives intertwine: one searching for family, one surprised by love and one living a lonely life lost in memories from the past.

I loved all the three story lines, hearing about their pasts and following them search for a new future. And although not totally surprised with the way they all intertwined at the end, I was satisfied.

Definitely recommend, I couldn’t put it down.

(Slight spoiler: the dog is ok! I spent many pages stressing about something happening to the dog which would have ruined the book for me, but all is good!)

Oh my gosh Nicholas Sparks does it again
My emotions have gone all over the place
The characters are so believable and the story is just so emotional
The best book this year

An emotional story of the interweaving lives of a grief filled aging man, an ex-serviceman who is constantly roaming and a single mum who is just trying to do it all right.

It's an excellent read; parts made me uncomfortable, parts made me laugh and other parts made me cry. It's so descriptive it's cinematic and I could see the movie of this in my head! There's a gritty realness to it that, at times, made me want to stop but then there was such raw emotion and also moments that only happen in books that I had to press on!

If you enjoyed The Notebook, or Dear John then you'll enjoy this. It has a good story arc, some lessons in it and is just generally one I couldn't put down at the end!

Counting Miracles by Nicholas Sparks

Tanner has spent his whole life moving from place to place, belonging nowhere. So when his dying grandmother reveals the name and location of the father he never knew, he plans to visit Asheboro to lay the past to rest, then move on - just as he always has.

Kaitlyn knows exactly where she belongs. In Asheboro, she's built a life for herself and her kids that she's proud of, especially after the turmoil of divorce. But when she meets lone wolf Tanner, she can't help but feel something has been missing until now.

Jasper will never belong again. He had everything - and he lost it all. Now with only his old dog Arlo for company, he lives quietly, haunted by the tragic accident that took place decades before.

Loved this book and became completely immersed in the story and the characters ,

An enjoyable tale of a lonely man, a single mother and a roaming veteran. An enjoyable read. There are quite a few Bible references which for me, simply demonstrated how the character thought about life and his approach to other people. I was slightly more concerned by the apparent 'borrowing' of a house from an estate agent so that they can have their 'Third Date' in privacy. Does that happen in America? I would be mightily hacked off if I found that the estate agent was letting out my house to his mates for saucy dates.

Apart from my concern for the house (!) I really enjoyed this book and it would make a perfect sun lounger read.
