In the mountains of West Virginia, hikers discover a dying man savagely attacked and left for dead in the wilderness. A retired trauma surgeon at the secluded Eagle Mountain Naturist Enclave races against time to save him. The man's body is shattered, his memory wiped clean by amnesia, leaving his identity and the attack a mystery. As he heals, he must adapt to life among the free-spirited nudists and uncover the truth of his attack. Is there a threat still lurking in the forest, and will he recover his memory in time to reveal the danger to the community?

This isn't what I usually read but I thought I'd give it a chance. I liked it better than I thought, even tho at first I wasn't captured at all. When the plot picks up around the 30% mark I was unable to put it down. But then, the pacing got weird, and it felt like the book was dragging a little and the plot got stuck for a few chapters.

Thank you for the advanced copy of Naked Came the Hunter. M.J. Edington introduced me to the word of naturalist in this story of a man beaten and left for dead found by members of a nudist enclave. Waking from his near death, Sam has not memory of who he is or what happened. What unfolds is a story of understanding and discovery wrapped in a thriller.

Thank you to NetGalley, Cyclone Creek Novels, and M.J. Edington for the opportunity to read and review this book before it’s published.

I originally requested to read this book based on the cover. After reading the description I thought I would give it a chance. It’s not something I would have typically read but I’m glad I did!

This book is nothing like anything I’ve read before. A man is brutally beaten in the woods and cared for by members of a naturalist community. I anticipated this book to be immature and awkward but it was the complete opposite. While there’s plenty of mention of the nudist way of life, there was no graphic details that would make anyone uncomfortable. The author himself is a naturalist so it seemed like it was authentically written.

This book is so well written! I think it’s the best written book I’ve read in a long time. The author uses incredible vocabulary and explanations. The characters were beautifully developed and very likeable. Jenny and Becky seem like the sweetest little family, and Sam/Jesse is the perfect addition to the community.

The plot was interesting and kept me interested. It was a long book but definitely didn’t feel like nearly 400 pages. The author does a great job of keeping every chapter intriguing. The chapters range from short to medium in length. Each chapter has a title so you can expect what’s to come.

This was the first I’ve read from this author and I’m looking forward to reading more. This is definitely a 4.5⭐️ star book. It’s been listed as a thriller but I would say it’s more general fiction/ mystery. There are aspects of a thriller, but not enough that I would classify it as such. There was one accidental typo early on when Jenny calls Sam “Jesse” before we find out his actual name.

The statement of “never judge a book by its cover” is really accurate to this book. I would absolutely recommend it.

Naked Came The Hunter is a heart-pounding mystery that grabs you by the collar and doesn't let go until the very end. From the moment I cracked open the book, I was swept away into the unforgiving wilderness of West Virginia, where danger lurks behind every tree. The intricate plot kept me guessing at every turn, and I found myself completely immersed in the desperate race against time to uncover the truth. But what truly hooked me was the raw emotion and vulnerability of the characters, making their journey one I won't soon forget.
