I have been a massive fan of Kelley Armstrong for well over 20 years even since her debut Bitten. So I was really excited when I saw this book coming out- the premise sounded amazing and a romcom to boot.
Daphne using a male pseudonym to become published and then needs a stand in for her public events. You can guess what comes next... some romance.

It didn't quite meet it for me. I loved the writing and flowed well but I didn't connect to the characters and events as much as I would have liked. That said overall it was an enjoyable read just not one I would want to revisit.

"Our feelings are ours to decide, and there's always happiness within us. The weather in our hearts is our and ours alone. By choosing to be happy, even when the days are filled with thunderstorms, the gentle moonlight in our hearts can still bring about peace "

What an absolutely stunning book! This quote above is so beautiful, honest and heart-wrenching. This whole book truly was so beautiful. This kind of the reminded me of a cozy version of the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It was sad, humorous, and full of the mistakes we all make throughout our lives. What is important is we see them, acknowledge them, but we don't let them consume us and prohibit us from living our lives. Dungeon Yun quickly became one of my favorite authors, and I can't wait to see what story she's comes up with next!

Loved the premise - a woman makes up a pseudonym to get a publishing deal and then needs to hurriedly find the face of the male author she's pretending to be, leading to romance. It was smart, modern, and Daphne is a great female character that has a lot of emotional depth and a backstory I could really root for. However, I just wasn't that enamoured with Chris and their ensuing romance. It just felt a bit forced and hurried and the pacing lost its way in the second half of the story. It wasn't bad by any means - the writing itself is great, but the overall connection between the two main characters was lost for me. A typical romnace takes me a few days to get through - this took me weeks.

Interesting story, but lacking in emotional connection for me.

Really enjoyed how this book explored Sexism and misogyny in the publishing industry

(not being part of that world I have no idea how accurate this was)

But this felt very thoughtfully done.

However that was the only part of the book I liked.
I don't get how if your not wanting to be noticed for your work and publishing then hire someone and agree to a full blown public book press tour for your somehow straight to number one book and not expecting people to question why the face/name of your book has no social media and do some Internet sleuthing

I really enjoyed Finding Mr. Write. This book was cute, funny, romantic and I liked how it explored sexism within the publishing industry and how a name can make a difference. It’s certainly a conversation we’ve seen play out in real time, particularly I feel with women authors using pseudonyms (such as the case in this book) and all of the discord that goes with that (how some readers *cough* usually men *cough* feel as if they’ve been betrayed). So yeah, I think it’s a relevant conversation to have and I enjoyed seeing it play out.

I really liked both Daphne and Chris, I thought they both had great chemistry and were really funny together. The only thing that did irk me quite massively is the miscommunication plot!! It was ridiculous and I don’t like it. It just started to feel messy, chaotic and clunky and entirely unnecessary and I didn’t like it. While I like drama, it felt too contrived and ruined the natural progression of story, which is why this isn’t getting a higher rating.

Overall I did enjoy this, just the latter half of the book was a let down.

I've enjoyed books by this author before and so maybe my expectations were a little high but I couldn't really wholly get onboard for this level of drama.
I could completely understand how a female author found the need to take on a male pseudonym...but why use a guy who has his own problems, a complete unknown that your friend makes a trade with. He then lies about his acting experience and takes on a persona that isn't him but isn't wholly the author persona. It's like he has 3 personalities! The setting sounds perfect and I want to go!
Chris our accountant / actor / pretend author is a sweet guy but his multiple persona's just frustrated me and confused me. Daphne was a great character, she is portrayed as a confident, strong woman in all the right ways and I did enjoy the dynamic between these two when Chris was being himself.

I received this book as an ARC and provide my honest review.

I've read all the Author's previous books in a variety of series which I would see as
paranormal romance./ mystery but this one is a totally different genre - contemporary romance
I have loved these series and as such I read anything carrying the Author's name but much to my
dismay this book is not one I would read again , That' s not to say it wasn't enjoyable but whilst
I found the premise of an female Author using a male pseudonym to get published a draw ,,,,, the storyline
was too slow for me , the slow burn romance , the error strewn publicity tour whilst a pleasant read
did not draw me in and leave me wanting to turn to the next page
That being said I look forward to reading more of the Author's works in the genre I love
.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

This was an easy rom-com which centred around the publishing industry and its faults. As an aspiring author I found these parts of the book to be interesting and a unique selling point of the book. I enjoyed the scenes set in the Yukon, which was a fun setting. I found the romance between Chris and Daphne didn’t feel very natural, but I was still rooting for them to work out their miscommunication issues. A good first romance book from Kelley.

Through this interesting opposites attract romance the author explores the misogynistic and sexist side of the publishing industry as author Daphne finds success for her novel after querying under a male pseudonym and skating over the romance in the plot. Chris, from a place of desperation, agrees to revive his amateur acting skills and play the part of Zane Remmington for Daphne. In order to impress her and convince her he’s the right man for the job, he pretends to be much more like author Zane than he is in real life. With Daphne determined to be professional, and Chris hiding his true self, romance is slow going between this pair but with glimpses of the real Chris shining through, there may just be a chance for these two.

I liked that these characters are in no way perfect. Chris makes mistakes while trying to do the right thing and he’s not afraid to own up to that, apologise and fix things when they go wrong. He’s got a kind heart but he’s only human, after all.

I received a free copy of this book. All views are my own.

3.5 upped to 4
Not a perfect story, it requires a lot of suspension of belief at times, but I had fun and liked the witty banter.
I assume that it's based on something experienced by the author even if some genre are dominated by women to the point men are faking their identity
Entertaining and funny
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This was a fun and cute read - the setting was very idyllic and I loved the premise. Our two main characters were such a delight!

Usually and I mean this seriously, usually this is exactly the type of book I eat up but unfortunately the lack of chemistry, plural pronouns and it being closed door really took me out of the story.

A closed door romance isn't something I frown upon if the chemistry is there between characters and it just wasn't with our fmc Daphne and mmc Chris.
Communication is key and here it was almost too much and too focused on email and text and it definitely took away from this budding romance.
The overuse if mmcs name drove me absolutely bonkers, now this may be edited and changed but this definitely made me roll my eyes when I read 'Chris' four times in a tiny little paragraph.

The mmc felt like he had way too many personalities, it almost felt like I was being forced to like the guy and in turn ended up severly disliking him, the fmc was not much better she was dull and lacked anything really?

Fab read. Daphne is an author, who in a moment of wine induced madness submitted her book as Zane. When she is successful she needs a Zane, so Chris is recruited to help play a part. Everything seems to get out of hand, but both characters are great and you want everything to work out for them. I loved the setting of the book too.

I enjoyed this book. There's more to it than being a summer beach read / rom com. There's sexism, gender issues and all sorts of other things.
It would be perfect for a summer holiday!
First from this author and won't be the last.

This was my first Kelley Armstrong read and I definitely enjoyed it 🌲🪵 👩🏽‍❤️‍👨🏼

The story begins with Daphne who has been struggling to find a publisher for her debut novel, so she decides to use a male pseudonym for the book. After deciding on the stage name 'Zane Remington', she realises she should probably hire an actor to support the release of her book so there can be a face to the name.

This is where Chris comes into play, Daphnes best friends accountant 🙃 Chris is desperate for a job so get out of a legal dispute he has found himself in, so pretends he has experience in acting in order to play Zane, the author of this new zombie novel.

Unexpected to them both, the book quickly becomes a #1 best seller and you follow the characters through this experience! Book signings, TV interviews & the lot. Obviously they end up falling for each other and they end up being a great match for each other :))

Pros: The location was really nice! In Yukon, Canada, next to a big lake and forests 🌳

Cons: I do feel like Daphne's character became less enjoyable once she started falling for Chris, maybe lost some personality?

This was a very easy happy read! Thank you to the Little, Brown Book Group UK | Piatkus & NetGalley for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review 🤗
