I love Melissa's books and this one wasn't an exception. This was such a cute small-town romance with a fake relationship, grumpy and sunshine, and them being polar opposites when it comes to their professions and beliefs. I loved both Destiny and Fletch, from their not-so-happy meeting while Destiny was his dog's, Molly, dog groomer to them getting to know each other during a not-so-great accident and then to them fake dating and truly getting to know each other. It was all very cute.

Destiny being a hopeless romantic who believes that everything happens for a reason and is starting to start her own proposal business without any previous experience in starting or owning a business clashes completely with Fletch's anti-romance point of view after his past. Not wanting to find love or a relationship again he asks Destiny to be his fake date to a wedding so his family gets off his back, in return he offers to help her with her business and getting it going. What he didn't expect was that during that time they would get to know each other better and they might start developing feelings for each other. And maybe, just maybe, being in a relationship isn't the worst thing there is, and maybe their fake relationship has turned into a real one along the way.

I had previously met Fletch in the Sugar Lake series, him being Talia's coworker and friend, and I had been intrigued by his story and what his future would hold and I wasn't disappointed. I have to say I absolutely loved his family and how they accepted Destiny and pulled her into their fold, which is something that Melissa writes so well. She always includes this aspect of found family and it is one of my favorite things she writes and it never disappoints. I also adored seeing so many different characters from the Sugar Lake series and getting a glimpse into their future after their books.

This one was cute! I do feel like destiny's character was a little unbelievable at times but maybe I am just jaded. She was seriously the brightest sun in the sunshine trope you've ever met. Ryan was grumpy but in the best way. He knew everyone, I just imagined him saying “I know a guy” constantly.
The spice was good but not as much as other MF books!
3.5 stars

My first book by Melissa Foster and it did not disappoint!

This book has the perfect combination of friends to lovers meets the grumpy guy with a happy go lucky girl trope with an added level of spice!!

Whilst this book contains some teary moments, there is a good level of comedy throughout that makes it a truly an enjoyable read. You will not want to put this book down!

All opinions are honest and my own. Thank you to NetGalley, and the author, for giving me a copy in exchange for the book!

Read if you like: fake dating, grumpy x sunshine, professor mmc, swoon worthy gestures, hilarious and lighthearted romcom, dual pov

I am SCREAMING I loved this book so much. It was so fun! I was literally giggling my way through the entire book, I couldn’t put it down 🤩

I loved Destiny, she was pure sunshine. A dog groomer, and business owner who loves putting together proposals just because she loves love so much. She wears her heart on her sleeve and radiates such happy, positive energy. Fletch was the grumpiest man but he is so incredibly sweet and thoughtful when it comes to Destiny.

I absolutely loved their friendship, chemistry, support, banter, and the fact that his nickname for her was sunshine ☀️🥹 I was sighing with how romantic this book was, Fletch sounds like an absolute dream.

I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a laugh-out-loud, lighthearted romcom ❤️

Simply Adorable!! Destiny and Fletch may seem like complete opposites and their first encounter might have been one for the record books, but through grit, determination and a whole lot of chaos the two find exactly what they did not know they were looking for in each other. Especially since Fletch checked off none of the boxed Destiny had in her Mr. Right Checklist. Melissa Foster encompassed the best in storytelling and surrounded it with simply adorable characters and not to mention a cute dog too.

The Mr. Right Checklist b Melissa Foster
Rating: 4/5
Release Date: 19 November 2024

Destiny Amor, a dog groomer with aspirations of becoming a marriage-proposal planner, firmly believes in true love and happily ever afters. While she hasn't found her own yet—let's face it, who can meet all the criteria on her Mr. Right Checklist?—she's determined to help others find theirs. After a disastrous first attempt at playing matchmaker, Destiny is ready to throw in the towel, until the supposed groom-to-be makes an unexpected proposal of his own.

Ryan "Fletch" Fletcher, a divorced professor who's sworn off love, is desperate to fend off his meddlesome matchmaking family. Seeing Destiny's disorganized but passionate approach to love, he sees an opportunity. He offers to help her streamline her business if she'll pose as his devoted girlfriend at his brother's wedding.

A professional arrangement with her grumpy dog-grooming client? Destiny can't resist the chance, especially since she adores his pup. She's confident she can endure his grumpiness if it means advancing her business and maybe even helping him shed his cynicism about love.

Tropes:
🌞Grumpy/Sunshine
👫🏻Fake Dating
👩‍❤️‍👨Friends to Lovers
🌶️Spice

This romance was truly delightful. I found myself thoroughly engrossed in their love story. Ryan embodied the perfect grumpy character who managed to be romantic effortlessly, and Destiny's unwavering cheerfulness despite her past struggles was heartwarming.

The Hero and Heroine have such a natural chemistry that it's hard not to root for them.

Despite a few misunderstandings, once they begin to open up to each other, the story becomes incredibly comforting and engaging—you'll find it difficult to set the book aside.

While there are some touching moments that may bring tears to your eyes, the majority of the story is filled with laughter and hilarity, with plenty of comical moments to keep you entertained.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Montlake, and the author, Melissa Foster, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest and fair review.

Absolutely fantastic story that gripped me from the start. Loved the 2 lead characters. They definitely didn't disappoint! The book had good pace and the romance felt believable. A little bit of steamyness thrown in and we are all happy :)

Grumpy/Sunshine, Fake Dating, Friends to Lovers, and fun frisky pets, what more could you need for a great romance.

Destiny's dream business is setting up perfect proposals. On her first job everything goes horribly wrong. She actually sets up a perfect proposal for a stalker. It's even worse when the groom to be turns out to be Grumpy Gus, father of Molly, the sweet dog she grooms.

Ryan, AKA Grumpy Gus, does not believe in love, and after his failed marriage, never wants to get married again. After hearing Destiny's business plan, he agrees to help her in exchange for her being his date to his brother's wedding. They both agree knowing that neither is right for the other. Destiny has her checklist for Mr. Right and is looking for forever, and Ryan is only looking for something casual and never wants marriage.

This is a cute romance. I enjoyed their love story. Ryan was the perfect grumpy character that was romantic without trying. Destiny was always happy regardless of what she has been through in her life. I absolutely loved that Ryan called her Sunshine, such a fitting name for her.

If you like Grumpy/Sunshine, Fake Dating, and Friends to lovers' tropes you will love this book. There is even a little jealous MMC added into the mix.

Thank you NetGalley and Montlake publishing for this book in exchange for my very honest review.
