This book was ADORABLE, I had a goofy smile on my face while reading it because of how cute it was.
She is a proposal planner (yes, as you read, even I didn't think this profession existed) and he is a college professor, they didn't start off well but little by little they became friends, Fletch helped Destiny a lot and she helped him a lot, the development of these characters was beautiful, while reading you will only find cute moments between them because even though Fletch says they are "just friends with benefits" you see his inner dilemma and his actions towards Destiny (which say more than a thousand words) and Destiny's strength to move forward is something to admire, I just wanted to give her a hug every time she talked about her parents.
This book was a good ride, I loved it from start to finish, just sweet moments between these two, a close knit family that welcomed our girl and with very little drama, I just kept smiling and sighing for this book.
📌I received an e-arc through netgalley, and this is my honest opinion/review of it.
What a fun and sexy story as Destiny and Fletch start out with sparks - but not good ones. He's Mr. Grumpy Gus, she's all sunshine and rainbows. Things start to take a turn when they start working together after a less-than ideal encounter when her new business takes an unpleasant turn. Plenty of ups and downs and moments that had me laughing out loud as the story progresses and left me wanting more of these two.
Oh this was such a fun and joyful read! Destiny at first comes off a little flaky and Ryan/Fletch a bit too grumpy, but that first impression is quickly forgotten when these two start interacting and getting to know each other.
Destiny has maintained a sunshine and in love with love personality despite the loss of both her parents. She has fabulous memories of them and keeps them in the center of her life by talking to them and understanding what they’d tell her.
Ryan is closed off emotionally after a divorce 10 years prior and he’s not interested in more than very casual dating. Destiny hits his life like a hurricane sweeping him up into her super positive outlook and infectious attitude.
I loved the no-stop banter and fun with Destiny and Ryan. She fits into his life, friends and family seamlessly and it’s so entertaining and enjoyable to watch happen.
I received a free ARC from the author; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.
The Mr Right Checklist is one of the most captivating grumpy/sunshine romances I have read to date. Destiny has lost so much but she radiates positivity, love and so much energy. She is quirky, funny and I love how she says exactly what she thinks and feels and doesn’t really hold back. Fletch is a man with a wall so high around his heart no one should be able to scale it but Destiny was always one to try to reach for the stars. What was to be a fake relationship with an expiry seems to grow wings and fly without either of these two realizing. The development between these two takes them both by surprise and in the end could cost them both what they really want and need. Fletch was far more romantic than he thought he was and I loved that he listened to every word that Destiny rambled. A story filled with witty banter, entertaining moments and a love that will steal your heart and soul.
This is one of those reads you don’t forget, it’s well written with characters you can relate too and more importantly it leaves you smiling. I was captivated from the first page to the last line and even then I wanted more. This is grumpy professor Ryan “Fletch” Fletcher and dog groomer and marriage-proposal Destiny Amor’s entertaining story.
Destiny believes there is a person and love for everybody and Ryan believes the complete opposite after a messy divorce. But his family are determined to find him the love of his life and rather than have them find a date for him for his brothers wedding he asks his dog groomer Destiny to fake date him and in return he will help her get her marriage-proposal business off the ground…… problem is what happens when real feeling's come into play. I loved everything about this book, I fell hard and fast for Ryan and I adored Destiny but it was the smile I was left with that took this book to another level. I highly recommend this book to all romance lovers.
Fletch and Destiny. Ryry and Sunshine. I devoured this book. I absolutely adore Melissa Foster's writing and this book did not disappoint. I was drawn in immediately - so many funny scenes. I never wanted their story to end. Loved the friendship between Fletch and Destiny. Ryan Fletcher is one swoony guy and the way he took care of his "friend" Destiny was incredible. So many sweet emotional moments. I went from laughing to tearing up multiple times. You are 100% missing out if you don't read this book. SO GOOD!!!!
This is A Standalone Romance and it is Destiny and Ryan’s ( Fletch ) story and omg it is definitely a must read. Destiny works with her best friend at the vets and she also decides to take the step to start her own website which is called ‘ Get The Yes ‘ which is a marriage proposal business and she had wanted to do this for so long that it had become her dream so imagine her excitement when she gets her first client and she hopes that everything goes well and it also works out because it means so much too her. Fletch is a professor at Beckwith University where he teaches Sociology which he loves because it means that he can educate and shape young minds but Fletch doesn’t do relationships or commitments of any kind after his failed marriage so he just concentrate’s and spends time with his students, his dog Molly and his best friend Talia who is also a colleague at the university so he is always busy and doesn’t have time or patience for anything else other than his family. When Destiny’s first’Get The Yes Proposal’ goes totally wrong and is a complete disaster she wonders if she should give up but Fletch steps in and offers to help her with the business side of it to make sure that she had everything covered and also help get it off the ground which meant that they ended up spending a lot of time together but Destiny had a list of her Mr Right and Fletch is totally unavailable so they just spend time and become great friends while working together but it doesn’t stop either of them still wanting the other one but unfortunately there friendship is so important to them both and neither are prepared to lose that strong connection that they have built with each other. The attraction and chemistry between Destiny and Fletch is so strong and they are so perfect together and for each other but will they take that chance to say how they feel before it is too late and they end up losing something so special and also their future together. This book will take you on a rollercoaster ride of so many different emotions and I cried so many times with everything that Destiny had gone through and lost from such a young age but she was still bright, positive, happy and full of sunshine and wasn’t afraid to try and reach for the stars in what she wanted out of life and I am so glad that she got everything that she wanted and deserved in the end and I loved how she brought Fletch through from being grumpy to taking that chance again on love. I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting because I had too keep turning the pages to see what would happen next along with being so addictive and I also what the outcome would be for them both in the end and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. Melissa Foster is an amazing author and writer and she certainly knows how to keep her readers attention throughout and engaged in her stories and I can’t wait to read more books in the future.
Destiny and Fletch—oh, where to begin? As someone who has a male cat with a feminine name, I approve. Clementine-Destiny's cat meet Buttercup- mine. Our story begins with Grumpy Gus not liking bows in his beloved Berner's hair.. poor Molly who doesn't like a fancy bow? Mix in a little bit of what could go wrong when you are trying to launch a business and we have the beginning of Grumpy Gus realizing maybe the second time around isn't so bad. I fell head over heels in love with these characters.
Right from the first chapter, I was hooked on Fletch! This grumpy x sunshine (how fitting) book had me all emotional throughout the whole thing. I love the idea of a proposal planner, this makes so much sense for some. Help nudge along an even better memory for those whose planning skills are not on point. Since Destiny's name implies a cosmic interference, it is great that her magnetic pull took Fletch by surprise and didn't let him go.
The two things that were missing for me was more detail on how Fletch was hurt and I would have enjoyed more details on the town they were living in. There was great detail in the places they visited and the proposal planning business happenings, but not a lot about where they lived day to day. I don't think there was anything missing, but an additional sentence or paragraph thrown in here or there would have added a lot more to my imagination.
Thank you for the copy, this is my honest opinion. Please be aware of any trigger warnings, as your mental health is most important.
I absolutely loved this book.
Fletch is the grumpy to Destiny's sunshine.
They first started as friends but couldn't stop love from crashing in.
Destiny is always smiling and happy, even after all the loss she's had in her life. She even gets Grumpy Gus, her name for Fletch, to smile and laugh.
Fletch doesn't do love, after a bad experience with his ex. I loved watching him fall for Destiny even though he said he wasn't.
It's the perfect pick me up romance.
Thank you Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.
A cute romance with a an interesting start. I adore Destiny she is a great character that you root for. Sadly I did not care much for Rhyrhy. I enjoyed his love for his dog, but that's it.
The book was good, I did easy get distracted while reading it, but I enjoyed the fake romance until it was no longer fake.
Destiny moved to be closer to her best friend who is her last 'family' and is ready to start her new proposal planning business. From a business disaster she meets a charming divorced anti-love professor who is willing to help her get her business legit and she's going to pose as his wedding date for his brother's wedding to get his family off his back about dating. The fake dating become friends with benefits but it can't possibly be more when he is the opposite of every item on her perfect guy checklist until maybe the checklist will change to fit him.
This was the cutest!! Solid proof that a book can be a sweet romcom and also very well spiced. I’m pretty sure I said “awww” about 15 times. Destiny is really someone to be admired, so much loss but unwavering hope for love in the world. I want a whole series of just her running her business and helping everyone else with their proposals in the best way!
This is a grumpy vs sunshine romance between marriage proposal planner Destiny and divorced professor Fletch. These flawed but likeable souls and the unique plot make for an enjoyable read. What starts out as a fake relationship turns into something more. It is a captivating love story with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, and engaging secondary characters. An entertaining page turner.
I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Grey's Promotions and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
The Mr. Right Checklist by Melissa Foster is the story of Destiny Amor and Ryan “Fletch” Fletcher. Destiny has relocated to be closer to her best friend along with who she feels is her only family member left. Ryan is a grumpy divorced man who ends up helping Destiny who in turned helped him with being a plus one. This was a funny hot read. I highly recommend Ms. Foster's writing.
I love two stupid friends who won't admit they're in love with each other. He would literally say that she makes his life better in every way and he doesn't like being away from her, but he's not a forever guy. The two of them were so cute and the way that Molly was involved in everything and even she missed Destiny when she wasn't around.
I received an arc from grey's promotions.
I haven't cried over a book in a while but this one got me. It is definitely worth reading. Destiny is a ball of sunshine to Fletch's grumpiness. You can't help but smile as you see her rays reach out and embrace everything around her. Fletch is the balance of her crazy. She has a list of what she wants but realizing everything you ever wanted was not what you needed and everything you needed was in front of you. Sometimes you have to close your eyes and open your heart. It's the little things that make a difference.
Mr. Right Checklist is a heartwarming rom-com about Destiny Amor, an optimistic proposal planner with a strict checklist for her dream man, and Fletcher, a grumpy realist jaded by past relationships. When Destiny’s first proposal goes awry, Fletcher steps in to help her save her business, despite being the polar opposite of her ideal partner.
As they work together, Destiny learns that love isn’t about perfection or planning, and Fletcher discovers that life is brighter with someone who believes in love. Their journey from opposites to partners is sweet, funny, and full of heartfelt moments, making it a delightful read for fans of uplifting romance.
A free-spirited proposal planner and a grumpy professor form a hilarious and unexpected situationship that just might lead to more in this steamy romantic comedy.
This has all of my favorite tropes - grumpy MMC, fake dating, meddling families, and an unrealistic check list (like most of us single ladies have) this was such a fun read and I loved every second of the story!
For being my first Melissa Foster read - 5/5 and I can’t wait to read more from her!!
Destiny Amor is starting her business as a proposal planner. So what if she never found love and had a list of what her Mr. Right should look like, which seems impossible to achieve? She has everything planned to start her business unless the first marriage proposal she gets is a total disaster and Mr. Grumpy volunteers to help her much-needed business. He is so far off her list he could never be Mr. Right…. Right?
Ok, let’s get this off the table. Yes the FMC name is Destiny Love and you will say that is cheesy as hell but I don’t care. Do I know any Portuguese people whose last name is Amor? Nope, but her mother being Portuguese and the way Melissa talked about Braga deserves forgiveness for that last name. Go eat a bolinho de bacalhau if you think it’s cheesy (just don’t eat those with cheese - no one deserves that).
Now that’s out of the way, this is such a cute rom-com. Destiny is so innocent and dreams of everything that needs to be perfect. She is definitely your sunshine character. She just wants to bring a smile to everyone’s life and help people. While Fletch is the opposite, very rational, he has had a relationship once and it ended in divorce. He knows what it’s like to be in a relationship and end in failure because it was not just meant to be. While he is grumpy and sometimes we can feel in his soul that he believes Destiny is a little gullible, he is very close to a regular person. Destiny sometimes can feel very intense again with all her good nature, but Fletcher is clearly just a regular person who is trying to live his life quietly.
Destiny has all the ingredients to make Fletch see that life can be enjoyed: while he helps her with the business plan, website, and finances, Fletcher can still realise that love is something that can be obtained. Destiny also learns with all the experiences she has with Fletcher that love is something that you never know when it’s coming, sometimes love finds you immediately once you set eyes on the person, sometimes it takes years of friendship, sometimes it goes and comes back. The “Mr. Right checklist” starts as something that Destiny deems necessary when she meets the perfect guy, it’s a list of what she has dreamed of when she thinks about the perfect love. But love is imperfect, people are imperfect and so are relationships, but they all carry moments and through those moments Destiny and Fletcher find out that their previous notions of love are not as good as the real sentiment.
“Mr Right Checklist” is the perfect rom-com book for those who believe in love and want a feel-good romantic story. Sometimes that is really all you need, something cute, uplifting and that will make you smile.
A new favorite Rom Com for me. This book was hilarious. Deserves to be a movie if you ask me.
Destiny was such a breath of fresh air for a FMC. She was unapologetically herself- speaks her mind, loves love, loyal and so Southern charm. I instantly fell in love with her. And honestly, I fell in love with Grumpy Gus aka Fletcher the moment he told Destiny not to let his dog wear bows. He is such a golden retriever MMC. He seemed so aloof and grouchy on the outside but he was so caring especially for his family, Molly & Destiny.
The storyline was perfect and Destiny’s checklist for Mr Right was epically hilarious. I really enjoyed that the author included her checklist in its entirety. The dual POV always makes the story ten times better.
I would highly recommend this book especially if you love:
✔️ fake dating
✔️ grumpy x sunshine
✔️ rom com
✔️ opposites attract
