This was a really delightful summer read with three lovely stories woven within. I really enjoyed the audiobook, it was very easy to follow and Tanya's voice was easy to listen to.

Three single women have all been put off men by past relationships. This 'feel good' book follows the women as they find their 'happily ever after' relationship.

I loved everything about this audiobook. From the storyline to the narrator, to the setting and the characters. My heart was in my mouth when her dog was stolen. Definitely a 'hug from a book' read.

The title definitely drew me in on this one. It’s currently summer and I love a book club book!

The audiobook, narrated by Tanya Eby was well narrated and easily gave voice to the characters. The story itself took me a fair while to get into, I didn’t relate all that much with the characters so that didn’t help engagement on my end but that’s more of a me issue than the book itself.

There was sprinkles of intrigue enough to keep me listening and the central plot was well written. I get a bit confused at times with the characters and which was attached to which storyline, it took me ages to get to know their names for some reason but again, my own issue and understanding.

The book club wasn’t as central as I would have hoped for, and I feel like it was hardly mentioned enough to be given the title of the book. Also, I didn’t particularly get the summer vibes either so I was a bit wrongly set up for what the book delivered but taking that out, the book was a lovely romance, contemporary fiction with some amazing friends, great character plots and a good ending!

I enjoyed it but my engagement could have been higher but can’t fault the audiobook or the writing itself!

Rounded up to 3.5🌟 Just didn't quite make the 4 for me on this one.

I did enjoy the story overall although there was in part book club the story was more leaning towards the friendships and lives of these 3 women however let's be honest for most of us we do find companionship in these areas.

I loved the characters they all brought a little something different to the novel and could relate in different ways to each one of them. In particular, I enjoyed Laurels life as it unfolded with her children how she had to navigate not only her own life but also theirs.

Cassie originally felt like she was being abondened by her own family when being sent to take up home turned out the blessing with many lessons of self growth and self-love along the way.

This is a really lighthearted warm novel.

I found the narration a little difficult on this one. Sadly, at points, the tone and pitch almost seemed a little monotone. I think this made it difficult for me to fully immerse myself in this.

Thank you to Netgalley & Harper Collins Audio UK for this ARC in return for an honest review.

I enjoyed The Summer Book Club although I have to admit, I had my expectations set a little higher than a 2 /3 person club that meets up at books and bottles and is arranged via text if they can be bothered to read the book. In fairness mind you, it was just an excuse for girl time, and was recommended by Paris’ therapist.

Paris navigating life post divorce and learning to become her true self, acknowledging that she has been abusive, whilst also coming to terms that she had been a victim of abuse.
Bandit, the collie lightened my heart, what a cute pupper! The goodest boy. He was by far my favourite character.
Laurel, raising her girls and trying go find good male role models for them. Laurels daughter Jagger made me laugh and had some great ideas about men if you ask me. Although I felt for her with her clear anger over Laurels divorce from beau, Ariana too, who’s missing her daddy.
Cassie inherited land in Los Lobos and a plan to stay for 6 months gets a job at books and bottles and becomes Laurels tenant.

Overall we are told a story about learning to love. Learning to trust. Learning to move on, and the importance of friendship, while it’s a light easy read, it wasn’t really what I hoped it to be.

The audio narration was nice, if at times it felt a little repetitive.

I’d like to thank HarperCollins U.K. audio and NetGalley for the opportunity to listen to this alc in return for an honest review.
