A very sweet cozy innocent romantasy that has made this Saturday a whole lot better, very glad i read this and that it was part of a reading list sent to me. The ensemble cast was wonderful, reminded me of shadow stitch by Cari Thomas.

Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood

I received an advance review copy for free thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Blurb

Belladonna Blackthorn hasn’t lost her magical spark, but she hasn’t seen it in a while either. Balancing work at her beloved London bookshop, Lunar Books, with handling her toxic boss and concealing her witchcraft from those around her – Belle is burnt out. Perfecting the potential of her magic is the last thing on her mind.

But, when her thirtieth birthday brings a summons from her coven and a trial that tests her worthiness as a witch, Belle risks losing her magic for ever. With the month of October to fix things and signs that dark forces may be working against her, Belle will need all the help she can get – from the women in her life, from an unlikely mentor figure and even from an (infuriating) coven watchman who’s sworn to protect her . . .

Can Belle reignite her spark before it's too late?

My Opinion

Rewitched was such a fun read. Belle must learn to trust her abilities. Lucy Jane Wood has written a cosy novel. An enjoyable read.

I loved this story, a heartwarming and magical tale of learning to believe in yourself, sprinkled with a little bit of romance. I can’t wait to continue on with Belle’s story.

Not what I expected, but a perfectly witchy autumn book! It's a really good comfort book with the message to believe in yourself.

My Dearest Rewitched,

From the moment we met, I knew we were meant to be. You had me at cosy autumnal fantasy and sealed the deal with bookshops, witches, and just the right sprinkle of romance. You are everything I never knew I needed—a warm hug in book form, wrapped in cinnamon-scented pages.

Belle Blackthorn is my kind of heroine: chaotic, exhausted, and trying her best despite the universe (and her toxic boss) conspiring against her. I felt for her as she juggled real-life struggles with magical mayhem, and I cheered for her every step of the way. Her journey of self-discovery, friendship, and rekindling her spark was the perfect mix of heartwarming and hilarious.

And then there’s him—the infuriating, brooding coven watchman. The tension! The banter! The whoops, did I just develop feelings? moments! I was utterly bewitched.

But what truly made me fall head over heels was the magic of your message—about self-love, second chances, and the power of the people who lift us up when we forget how to fly. You reminded me that sometimes, the spark isn’t gone—it’s just waiting to be reignited.

So, Rewitched, consider this my undying declaration of love. You made me laugh, you made me swoon, and most importantly, you made me believe in magic again.

Yours forever,
A hopelessly enchanted reader

If you love an extremely slow burn romance wrapped in cozy autumnal vibes, this book is for you. It’s a very witchy read, perfect for curling up with a warm drink on a crisp fall evening. The atmosphere is rich with magic, but at its heart, the story is full of warmth and charm.

Belle is such a relatable protagonist—aside from, you know, the whole witch thing. She feels like a real person, making her easy to root for. The pacing is definitely on the slower side, and you can feel that debut syndrome in some places, but honestly? I didn’t mind. The cozy, enchanting world and endearing characters more than made up for it.

I’m so ready for book two—bring on more magic, more romance, and more of this beautifully cozy world!

I'm always a bit dubious when influencers write books, but this was a nice story and great for the autumnal/spooky season.
This does lean into a trend of similar cosy books with a similar plot/setting and if you're a fan of these types of reads, this might be one to pick up.
I will say, it took me longer than expected to both get into this and to continue reading it.
I found myself putting it down for weeks at a time, which is why it took me so long to finish it.
It had its moments but didn't grasp me quite like I thought it would.
The pacing did slow down at times and I felt like the chapters were a bit long and overly descriptive at points. But I'm intrigued to see where the series goes next. And I did enjoy the final few chapters.
I am definitely a sucker for a book set in a bookshop.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Rewitched” by Lucy Jane Wood offers a cozy, autumnal narrative centered around Belladonna “Belle” Blackthorn, a nearly 30-year-old witch grappling with burnout from her job at a London bookshop and the concealment of her magical identity. As her thirtieth birthday approaches, Belle faces a trial set by her coven to determine her worthiness as a witch, compelling her to reconnect with her neglected powers.

The novel excels in creating a warm, whimsical atmosphere, reminiscent of beloved series like “Charmed” and “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” Wood’s portrayal of Belle’s journey toward self-discovery and self-love is both relatable and heartening. However, the pacing is notably slow, particularly in the initial chapters, which may test the patience of some readers. Additionally, while the romantic subplot between Belle and the enigmatic coven watchman, Rune, holds promise, it lacks sufficient development, leading to a connection that feels underexplored.

In summary, “Rewitched” is a charming read that captures the essence of autumnal magic and personal growth. Despite its leisurely pace and somewhat underdeveloped romance, it remains an enjoyable story for those seeking a light, witchy tale.

This was a cosy, witchy, fantasy in modern world with somewhat high stakes but still has that comforting cosy read feel to it and moments of relatability, book!

A good read for spooky season and autumn in general 🧡 and if you’re a fan of The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches you might enjoy this one.

I adored this audiobook.
I'm obsessed with witchy books at the moment, and this scratched that itch!
Evie Hargreaves was superb as a narrator. She had a lovely warm and friendly voice and was very expressive through the book. But, it never felt like she over-acted.
I loved the author and narrators' interview at the end too! It was fabulous!
I'm already excited for the next book!

I didn't really get into this book until a quarter of the way through, but when I did i completely fell in love with it.
This is what I call fantasy for people who don't like fantasy. Witches and warlocks, hut with just enough reality to make you feel grounded.

Well written with well rounded characters.

For a debut novel this was pretty good. I just wish that the middle part was a bit more interesting than it ended up being. The beginning and end were incredible but the middle was relatively slow. It's a cute and cozy read though and Belle is such a fan character!

I received this book from Netgalley for an honest, independent review.

Belladonna Blackthorn finds herself at a crossroads. Her life is a balancing act between managing a charming bookshop, Lunar Books, and dealing with a demanding boss, all while keeping her witchcraft under wraps.

Rewitched is a dreamlike escape into a world where magic subtly intertwines with the everyday hustle and bustle of life in London. This cosy fantasy novel is the perfect companion for a chilly day, offering warmth and a sense of enchantment.

Lucy Jane Wood masterfully weaves a narrative rich with themes of friendship, self-love, and resilience. Bella’s journey is one of self-discovery and empowerment, as she navigates the challenges of a coven trial that threatens to strip her of her magical abilities forever.

The setting, with its Halloween backdrop and hints of dark forces, adds a layer of intrigue and suspense that keeps readers engaged. And I absolutely love Lunar Books; I wish I could work there!

Bella’s journey is a reminder that magic exists within us all, especially when we have the support of those who care about us.

Rewitched is a spellbinding read that will captivate anyone looking for a feel-good fantasy.

I am not sure how I feel about this book?

In the one hand I would be the first person to say that reading the blurb it was 100% for me, but I just couldn't get into it at the time. It was a little slow going and I got bored about halfway. I have paused reading it as I don't know if it is a me thing or the book.

Rewitched is a beautifully cosy fantasy with just enough action to keep you on your toes. I loved the vibe of the world that we get to experience, though I didn't connect with our main character as much as I would have liked. I really enjoyed getting to know the side characters, but the romance felt slightly like an after thought. All in all, I think the book was beautifully written and I'm excited to see what the author comes out with next!

This was such a sweet story - perfect for cosy, autumnal evenings. I am OBSESSED with the cover artwork too!

I have mixed feelings about this one! I went in with such high expectations but really struggled to get engaged with it. It just didn’t capture my attention the way I anticipated.

I took a break from reading it and came back to it, which did help and the second half was significantly more engaging.

Perhaps just a “right book, wrong time” moment?

I did enjoy it, I think I just expected too much.
