Get ready for your next cozy obsession. A slightly higher stakes witchy fantasy set in rainy autumnal London.
This one felt like a warm hug in a book. Lucy's lyrical and whimsical writing really transport you to a world much like ours, just there are witches hiding in plain sight.

What to expect:
🍂Found Family vibes
✨️Witches
🍂Finding yourself

This book is all about finding and believing in yourself, a strong message throughout for sure as we follow Belle, trying to reclaim her magic and her life.
There are a few twists and turns to keep us engaged the whole time while we also learn about the different branches of magic, through Belle and her teachings.

The world building was really great and the magic system wasn't super taxing to get to grips with. Half the book is set in a bookshop, which all book lovers will agree is an added bonus here!

I loved the interactions with the handsome watchman Rune, and how they slowly fell for each other, but it's was nice this wasn't the central focus of the story.

All in all, if you already have this one on your tbr be prepared to be swept away. If you don't I highly recommend picking it up when it's released, and be transported to a cozier, colder London.

4.5 ✨️

Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood is a charming, slightly grown up, cut down version of Harry Potter for grown up girls..
There are spells and misunderstood expelled warlocks and romance and a beautiful bookshop. Quite a fun collection of elements for a story potion!
Does it have depth, not really, but that's not the point.
This tale of Bella reaching her full potential as a woman in a wicche world is almost more about Belle reaching her full potential as a thirty year year old woman in the real world.
There genuinely was enough in the story to make one wonder for quite a while, just exactly who WAS the villain of the piece.
A light read with a dusting of magic, just right for curling up with on an autumn night....round about the end of October in fact.....

Thanks the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I found this book so comforting to read, and suits the genre of cosy fantasy! But the great benefit to this book is that the story is still exciting and I finished it within a day as just didn't want to put it down.

There are some flaws within the actual plot and did knock my general rating of this book but I still really enjoyed reading it and would recommend this as a go to read, especially nearing the spookier season of the year.

Rewitched was such a fantastic cosy witchy read. This book would be a perfect Autumn read.
I loved how this book made me feel when reading it, the main Belle wasn’t perfect and didn’t have all her life together at the age of 30. I loved her journey of self discovery and relearning more about her witchy side. I really enjoyed meeting all the side characters and felt they were pretty well round and had a good depth to them.
Rune was perfect, he had a mystery to him and I liked how he was always trying to help Belle even when she didn’t notice!
I liked the Romance but I definitely wanted more in there. It was a pretty slow burn but I enjoyed there chemistry that was between the two.
The world building was great and I enjoyed the plot, I didn’t see that ending coming. I never would have guessed what was going to happen which I loved!
There is Plenty of little twists and turns to keep you going with this perfect cosy witch read.

Thank you to the Publisher, Author and Netgalley for an eARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

4/5 ⭐️
Charmed fans, this one’s for you.
A delightfully cozy, autumnal read about the joys of magic but more importantly about the fact that you don’t have to have everything figured out by the time you hit 30.
Belle is an incredibly relatable protagonist (even though I did want to shake her a few times), and I loved all the people she had close bonds with.

I do wish we’ve spend more time with some of the characters (cough cough Rune and Ari) and I did see some (not all!) of the twists coming, but we do get animal familiars so I guess you lose some you win some.

There definitely space to explore and potentially make it into a duology, I wonder if that’s something the author was considering.

Cosy, witchy girlies, this one is for you!

As someone who grew up watching (and loving) 90s TV show Charmed, the comforting, magical feel of Rewitched was delicious. Some strong Halliwell vibes coming through from Belle and her mama here. Chef’s kiss.

Also, the fear of the 30s fast approaching and not having it all worked out is REAL. Couple that with some supernatural dramas and you’ve got my attention.

Here’s what I loved the most about Rewitched:

• The worldbuilding - it’s abundantly clear that SO much effort went into developing the lore behind Belle’s coven and the magical abilities in this book.I found myself instantly immersed in their world.

• The characters - not only our protagonist, but each of the side characters are crafted with such care and I loved learning little snippets about all of them. I can see some serious potential for a series here. Give me more Ariadne immediately please. And I would like more Christopher also, for the chaos!

• Autumnal vibes - pump that orange hue, pumpkin spiced, misty graveyard, late night moonlit coffee aesthetic directly into my veins.

• Jinx the cat - this book features a cute cat, need I say more?

Okay, so why 4 stars? Two words: More. Rune.

I just felt like the romance wasn’t enough for me. I loved the slow burn of it all, but the payoff just wasn’t quite there. The potion scene was close, the chemistry was definitely there, but I needed a little more from it. A second book featuring more Belle and Rune would definitely keep us romance girlies fed though…

This was such a lovely read that I’ll definitely be revisiting during spooky season.

Huge thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book! The above opinions are entirely my own.

Belladonna (Belle) Blackthorn is about to turn 30. Her boss at her beloved Lunar independent bookshop is toxic and on top of this she is trying to keep concealed her witchcraft. Belle is a witch and part of the Selcouth coven.

On her thirtieth birthday Belle has to take a trial to see if she is worthy of being a witch and if Belle fails she will lose her magic forever. The trial does not go to plan but a loophole is found and she has the month of October to fix things.

Some sort of dark magic however appears to be working against her so she has to get help from the women in her life alongside a mentor that is very unlikely. All this and a coven watchman who has sworn to protect her but Belle finds him infuriating.

This was a fun witchy read. Belle is likeable and anyone who knows me knows that one of my favourite things is pets that are part of the main story and this has Jinx the cat and less mentioned Wolfie the dog. This book also had some twists, one of which I had an inkling about the other not at all. I really enjoyed reading this book and hope that we get more stories from Selcouth coven. I for one would love to hear more about how the coven started. Great book and I definitely recommend it if you like fun cosy witchy reads with a smidgen of romance and a couple of unpleasant characters thrown in. 4⭐️

This was a fine read and I mean fine in the British, bad sense of the word. I wanted to enjoyed it more than I did because I thought the concept was good but the execution was not. I found the lead a very frustrating character because I wanted to shake her for her decisions and actions. It read like her insecurities were very obvious, contrived plot points and that drove me mad. I'm not sure when exactly this was originally written but it's quite jaring to read about pagers and fax machines these days. None of the characters felt fleshed out so I just didn't care about any of them or if they would come good in the end. It had potential, it just never lived up to it.

A lovely cosy fantasy that will be a particularly great autumnal read.

Belladonna ‘Belle’ Blackthorn has been used to keeping her identity as a witch a secret when she finds out she will be tested on whether she has made the most of her magic on her 30th birthday. At risk of losing her magic for ever, she is given the month of October to study with her unlikely mentor before the final reconning. They soon discover dark forces seem to be considering against her and with the help of the handsome warlock appointed as her watchman they must race against time to find out who is behind the plot.

I loved the combination of magic, found family and of course a cosy bookshop! Belle was a great character and the supporting characters were well written. The twists were enjoyable and kept me on the edge of my seat.

A really great addition to the growing contemporary witch romance sub-genre.

A magical cosy read with great characters and a plot filled with just enough intrigue to make you not want to put the book down.

Ohhhh I loved this. I never really saw myself as a cosy fantasy sort of person, but recently I think I might be getting into them? And this has secured that transformation??? This book is so fun - it’s cosy without being simple or uneventful. It actually has some great story substance and twists and turns - as well as character development. It’s also really cool to read a book with a protagonist around my age!!! We need more late twenties/early thirties witches around here okay!! Protagonists who pay taxes !!!!

Anyway, I loved it. Love the characters, especially Ariadne! The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because the romance felt a little under explored. I get that it’s a slow burn and not the main story but it just felt slightly flat to me?

4.25 stars overall!

Thanks to Netgalley and MacMillan for an early review copy!

3.75 stars rounded up to 4.

This book was cosy, autumnal, heartwarming and magical. I am so grateful to have received this eARC and been able to read it before the release date, but this book would be perfect to read curled up on the sofa in front of the fire with a hot chocolate when it releases in September!

I really enjoyed the writing style, and I was so pleased to see that the humour and wit Lucy Jane Wood has in her videos transferred onto the page. I laughed so many times reading this book, but there were also a few moments where I found myself welling up a little.

I could really relate to Belle with her struggles and not believing in herself, and I loved following her journey to finding her spark again. The characters were all delightful, and there were some really sweet interactions between them.

Although I overall really enjoyed this book, the plot did occasionally feel a little repetitive and at times, a bit slow. I also felt like we didn’t get to know the love interest much at all, and as he was barely in the book, I couldn’t feel the chemistry between him and Belle.

Thank you to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for providing me with an eARC.

Wow wow wow I LOVED this book. I’ve watched Lucy on YouTube for such a long time and when she announced this book, I was absolutely thrilled for her and just couldn’t wait to read this and it did not disappoint. I adored the characters and just wanted the best for Belle. Reading this book when I was in a rough patch mentally was the absolute best decision. Lucy’s story was the perfect cosy, magical escape and her personality shines through the novel. Reading this book was like being wrapped up in a fluffy duvet, with an absolutely perfect cup of coffee and your favourite candle lit. As someone who doesn’t necessarily read the fantasy genre that often, this book was my favourite kind of fantasy, set in the modern world, with a magic system that isn’t complicated. All in all, I adored this book and will absolutely be reading anything Lucy writes in the future (and likely re-reading in autumn for the full cosy vibes).

I was pleasantly surprised at the depth of this novel, I have to say I thought it was going to be a light cosy fantasy but it wrong-footed me! There was real connection with the characters and their backstories, I liked that the romance part was a slow burn and did in no way detract from the main action. The best part was watching Belle find her inner strength and finally come out fighting for what she believes in.
A good read!

From the first page I was LITERALLY OBSESSED!! I feel like Lucy's personality really shines through in this and I genuinely laughed out loud so much. LOVED, LOVED, LOVED!

I liked Rewitched a lot but for some reason I thought it was a witchy romance novel so I was expecting more romance (and that's on me for not reading the synopsis properly) but there was only a fleeting glance of it and I wanted more.. but it was an excellent story of courage and family and witchcraft and believing in yourself, of friendships and untruths.. it was funny and sad and really just a lovely read on a cold day.. this is a perfect book to read on a wet weekend with a hot chocolate.

A cute and cosy autumnal read that I think will do very well when released in the slightly cooler months.

Rewitched is about Belle who is about to turn thirty and receives the news that she has one month to fix her failings in order to keep her magic. The story is sweet and I could see a lot of promise in the writing style but the pacing could have been a lot tighter and the characters seemed a little surface level in some areas. I will keep my eye out for what Wood publishes next as she is definitely going to be one to watch!
