Rewitched is a heartwarming autumnal read that will pair perfectly with a cosy blanket and a seasonal drink. It follows Belladonna Blackthorn, a millennial witch with very little magic in her life. Living with her non-witch best friend in the non-witch world, Bella is in a bit of a rut- she has her dream job, managing the magical Luna Books, but her new boss is determined to turn it into a soulless corporate nightmare stripping away everything that makes the shop special. Things get worse when she is summoned by her coven on her 30th birthday to prove she is worthy of keeping her magic. I enjoyed the premise of this, the cosy vibes were perfect and there was a lovely message about believing in yourself as well as an intriguing mystery element which held my attention. Bella was very relatable which I loved but I wanted to shake her at times because her decision making frustrated me😂
In terms of the romance, it was less prominent than I’d anticipated which wasn’t by any means a bad thing but I would have liked to have seen this developed more. I did also feel like the book was quite slow in terms of pacing and I think it was this that meant I didn’t fully gel with it and rate it higher- there was definitely a sense of urgency in the plot with time restraints and deadlines, some quite high stakes, but it just read a bit too slow for me (although there’s plenty of book lovers who like their reads to be a slower pace who’d love this)
𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈:⭐️⭐️⭐️.✨ (3.5⭐️)
Enter for its cosy vibes, leave with its magical adventure
Deceptively cosy in its packaging, this is more like a cosy cousin to Her Majesty's Coven or The Golden Enclaves, with magic galore, witch trials and mysterious enemies out for a power grab. The twist is sure to delight but the romance is a little too downplayed for me, even though it's telegraphed almost from the first page.
Three and a half stars, rounded up to four.
In many ways this is the perfect book for autumn. It’s got a witchy theme, a cosy bookshop and a Halloween deadline! The only problem was it was a little bit slow. Not a lot happened through the beginning of the book. The start was used to set up the vibes, which were spot on, but it did mean it was slow to get going.
I really enjoyed the story though, the strength of friendship between the characters, and the way we got to explore Belle’s magic, and so many of the spells were fun. The author definitely had cosy as the main focus of the book.
The characters and the bonds they form were really important in this book. The group of friends that Belle made through the story was just a joy to read about.
If you’re into cosy, witchy autumn vibes, give this book a go!
Very cozy and magical ✨️
It was very warm and refreshing to dive into this world, this story. The characters were charming and bright on the pages. Even though I am not much of a romance reader I have enjoyed the little moments along with strong plot and development of the world.
What an absolute delight! Whilst this book took a short while to get going for me, once it started, I couldn’t put it down! I loved Belle and her complexity and the whole cast of characters were extremely likeable - and a more than a little quirky! A new author for me but one I would definitely read again.
What a delight!
I love a good witchy wonder and this did not disappoint. I was more invested when it became a bit darker at the trials and loved the family link throughout.
It was a long read and parts felt a little drawn out but overall thoroughly enjoyable and look forward to more from this author. Definitely one I’ll be recommending
Thank you for my copy to read and review
Rewitched is one of my top reads of this year! I adored Belladonna and I loved living through her journey with her. Bella has not ever really used her magic for much, small things to make her life easier, But not like other witches. so on her 30th she just persuade a council of witches to let her keep her powers, and prove she has not wasted them. She has to now pass some tasks to prove this and another witch must guide her. This is a story of magic and wonder, but it is also about accepting yourself and trying to understand yourself. I fell in love with Wood's writing and she is already and auto-buy author for me!
Rewitched was the perfect cosy, witchy, autumnal read (with a sprinkling of romance) that I just KNEW I would enjoy! I have been a long-time follower of Lucy Jane Wood on Youtube, and from what I knew of her love and passion of reading, cosy mysteries and the gilmore girls!! I had every faith that the vibes in this would be immaculate - and rightly so!
Rewitched follows Belladonna Blackthorn, a quiet bookseller, who has a secret...she's a witch, but like, a LOW KEY witch - think ‘don't want to move to snooze your alarm’ kind of magic. On the approach to her 30th birthday, which already is harrowing enough, she learns that she must prove herself worthy of the magic she has or face losing it forever!
As I said already, this was cute and comfy and I very much enjoyed Belles journey of self discovery. I'll admit I didn't much like Belle to start off with but honestly, I don't think Belle liked Belle, we grow to love her as she learns to love herself! Overall, It is the perfect read for these cold autumn months to warm the soul and heart. Cannot wait to see where Lucy will go next with her writing as I wish all the good things for her.
Thanks so much to Netgally and the publisher for the ARC - the second I hit 20% into it I rushed to get the stunning WS exclusive edition...last one in the store, it was meant to be✨
What a gorgeously witchy book. Magical, full of love and friendship I loved Bella’s story. This was the perfect autumnal read
Oh I just loved this book! The cosiest autumnal read ever.
The wonderful setting, the bookshop which I would love to visit, the familiar, the best friend, the love interest just everything was perfection.
I really hope there is a sequel as it so could be done.
The writing style was just chefs kiss, I couldn’t put it down but at the same time I never wanted it to end. It was like a warm hug and the best hot chocolate with everything on top! I just can’t describe how magical this book was, go read it!
A great witchy adventure! Loved all the characters and the storyline… even down to the twist I didn’t see coming!
Loved how although a bit of romance - the story was focused on friendship and platonic soulmates. It’s all about the family you build around you!
And who didn’t want to be a witch working in a bookshop when they were 15?!
This was a sweet, cosy witchy read that's perfect for an Autumnal afternoon! It features a witch who works in a bookshop - what more could you want?!
Belle is the 'witch' in question and she's never gone big on the magic front, just the odd spell to help her through day to day, but when she fails a 'witch trial' and loses her magic, she then realises how important it was to her and how it made her feel so we follow her on a quest to prove her witchy worthiness!
The pacing to begin with in this book is really slow and it takes ages to get anywhere! BUt I did enjoy the main character and loved following her journey of self discovery, realising she was good enough when she often felt she wasn't and was very risk averse so was happy to stay in her little safe bubble.
*** 3.5 STARS ***
Rewitched is a cozy witchy fantasy and a perfect read for autumn.
I really liked the characters in this book and it was also very well written, especially considering it’s the author’s debut novel. The story itself was also interesting and I got into it quite quickly however, it was a bit too long for my liking and I started to lose interest in it towards the end of the book.
Overall though, I definitely enjoyed Rewitched and I’d be interested in reading more books by this author in the future.
This was such a cute autumnal read!🍂
Perfectly paced and had twists I wasn't expecting. There is a real onus on finding your spark again which I loved!
This feels perfectly nostalgic, cozy and FUN, like a Worst Witch novels for adults
I absolutely adored this book! The cozy witchy vibe was just what I was hoping this book would be and it was just that! Loved how all of the characters were written, especially the part with her grandmother. I could really relate to the FMC, which made the book even better to read. Will definitely be recommending this book to everybody!!
Rewitched is a charming book about Belle, a young witch, who on her 30th birthday is in danger of losing her magic. She is given the opportunity to work with a mentor to prove she is worthy of the gift of magic.
Belle is really likeable and relatable, she is strong, yet has vulnerabilities and lacks self-confidence. The story comes together nicely with some twists and turns and a whole host of memorable characters. This is a quick read, perfect for autumn and perfect for those who want some magic in their life, but do not necessarily enjoy fantasy books.
I was sent a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
If you’re looking for the perfect cozy read to curl up with this fall, Rewitched by Lucy Jane Wood is exactly what you need. The whimsical vibe of the story instantly brought me back to the days of watching Charmed and Sabrina The Teenage Witch. It’s packed with that same witchy magic and warmth that feels like the literary equivalent of a hot cup of tea on a crisp autumn day.
It did take me a couple of chapters to really get into the story. The pacing was a bit slow at the start, but once I pushed through those early chapters, everything clicked into place. The plot picked up speed, and I found myself hooked, eager to see what twists and turns would come next.
Belle, our main character, felt relatable in so many ways. Sure, she was a bit impulsive at times—there were definitely moments when I wanted to shout, “Think before you act!”—but that just made her feel more human. I also loved how Belle was 30 and still figuring things out. There’s something incredibly reassuring about a protagonist who doesn’t have it all together. It’s a reminder that it’s okay to be on your own journey of discovery, no matter what age you are.
As for the supporting characters, Rune and Arty completely stole the show for me. Rune’s broody, mysterious personality had me hooked, while Arty’s confusion and warmth made him such a loveable wizard. Together, they balanced each other perfectly, adding depth to the story and giving me all the magical vibes I was hoping for.
My one little gripe with the book was the romance. I know it’s meant to be a slow burn, and while I love that trope, I found it a bit too slow for my taste. The chemistry between Belle and Rune was there, but it felt a bit awkward at times. I would’ve liked to see a little more attraction and flirting throughout the story instead of waiting until the very end for things to truly spark.
Would I recommend it?
Yes! Overall, Rewitched is an enchanting, feel-good read that I would happily recommend to anyone craving a bit of magic this fall. It’s not without its slow moments, but once you get into it, you’re in for a cozy, magical ride.
I loved this arc so much that I preordered a copy when I finished, because I know its a story I want to read again.
To say I loved it woukd be an understatement. Beautifully written, I adored the characters
Rewitched follows Wren, a 30-year-old witch who has lost her passion for magic, and her quest to regain her powers and find out who she truly is.
Wren is a relatable and sympathetic character, her determination and resilience shining through even in the darkest of times. Her journey is filled with challenges, puzzles, and unexpected twists, which kept me hooked as the story developed and became more fast paced.
Along the way, Wren forms unlikely friendships and finds love in the most surprising places. I loved the relationships she shared with Artorius, Rune, and Ariadne, who brought out the best in Wren and helped her to discover more about herself. If you're seeking a cozy and magical escape this autumn, Rewitched is the perfect choice.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ out of five! I’d definitely read more from Lucy Jane Wood and can’t wait to see what she brings out next.

I absolutely loved this cosy, witchy, autumnal story. It’s the perfect blend of charm, magic, fantasy, love story, challenge and friendship. The characters are just super! From our protagonist book loving Belle and her underused magic , to her bestie Ariadne, to darkly mysterious handsome Rune, to utterly adorable old warlock Arti: I loved them all! If you’re looking for the perfect cosy read to snuggle up on the sofa with, look no further than this super debut.
