Bella works at the Lunar bookshop, with an infuriating manager who's trying to ruin everything, while trying to be brave enough to buy the shop. She's looking forward to her 30th birthday party when she's summoned to a meeting with her coven by an infuriatingly handsome man. She needs to prove she's worthy of her magic by Halloween with a mentor and the infuriatingly handsome man hanging around.
I loved this book. The writing was compelling and funny, I was intrigued by the story and picked up my ereader at every opportunity, desperate to find out more. I presumably missed a load of hints as I didn't see the surprise coming!
The world of magic is well written, and intriguing. I love the trails of stars and sparkle it leaves behind.
I loved the relationship between Bella and Arty. I don't know if this is the start of a series but I'd love more about the two of them working together. I definitely want more about Bella and Rune.
I've already pre-ordered a copy of this so I can re-read it in print.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.

The best way to describe Rewitched is a hug in a book. It is just such a cosy witchy fantasy that gives off all the autumnal vibes you could want. There is just so many elements to this story I loved, it is a contemporary, magical story with mystery and romance sprinkled throughout but the main thing I absolutely loved was just how relatable this story is. Rewitched is a story of finding yourself and your inner strength and to see Bella’s journey as she tries to hold onto her magic was just so beautiful to read.
The setting of a bookstore was perfect add in the found family aspect, the most adorable cat and a sweet slow burn romance just makes it such an easy enjoyable read, the writing was also beautiful and at times poetical and so descriptive. I can’t recommend this book enough it’s absolutely beautiful and the best type of book to read in autumn!

This book initially caught my eye when I saw that Waterstones are producing a special edition of it: the colours and sprayed edges were so pretty and made it look like the perfect autumn cosy read.
Someone mentioned this book reminded them of Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I was of the age group that grew up with that show. It was my favourite for many years and I watched it repeatedly. I can see the resemblance. This book reminded me of a cross between that and places from Harry Potter, like the Weasley’s Burrow house and the Wizengamot trial room.
It’s an easy enough cosy witchy read. I did feel the descriptions were a bit too long winded at times but overall I generally liked the writing and the world at the start. However, it took about 50% before the story got moving and her mentor appeared. Half of the book focusing on world building and introduction of everyone was just too much of a slog for me that by the time the story started to take off, I just started to not care. I also felt like the reasoning of Belle’s mentor was a bit confusing as to why he got selected.
I had such high hopes for this book but I was ultimately really disappointed. The ending did get better but it was such a hard book to get through that it honestly put me in a reading slump. I had to keep dipping in and out and forcing myself to finish it. It was just too slow a read for me. I enjoyed it at the start, hated it in the middle, liked it more by the end.
I’m giving this 1.5 stars, rounded up to 2 stars.

I absolutely LOVED this! Such a novel and fun take on the currently very trendy cosy witch tale, that really stands out from the coven (sorry, couldn't resist). Beautifully paced, with just the right amount of plot twists to keep you hooked, characters that feel genuine and believable despite their spooky powers, especially the fabulous Belle and the rather lovely Rune. And of course, there's a bookshop! I mean witches, romance, bookshop - could we ask for more? Perfection!

This took me a little while to get into, but I think it's because I read another witchy book right before it and needed to break it up with something else, rather than the book itself. Once I did get into it, though, I absolutely adored it!
This was such a fun witchy read. I loved the characters, and Bella's growth throughout the book. I loved her relationship with her mum, and also how much faith she has that Artorius isn't all he's initially made out to be. Rune is such a great addition to the book, and I also loved how we see her relationship with Ariadne, which shows that female friendships can be soulmates.
I had a feeling there'd be some sort of twist but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting - 10/10 for surprising me!
I can't wait to re-read this in the autumn, it's the perfect witchy autumn read for sure!

Belle has definately lost her spark, but she's got a month to turn it around.
I love Lucy's youtube but I honestly did not connect the dots that this was her book for weeks!! I really enjoyed this honest and straightforward look at the struggle to give yourself a beak and let yourself be a flawed grown-up. The rest of us may be safe from having a witches' tribunal tell us that we're not living right but I think that fear of judgement, of having 'gone wrong' somewhere, is one that we can all relate to and Lucy captures it brilliantly. She nails the cozy, but the personal stakes always feel high, keeping things exciting. While the romance was fun (and I can just about forgive his name being 'Rune') Belle's support network was a big highlight, absolutely loved the relationships with Ariadne and her mum.
Highly recommend it as an autumn read, I suggest pairing with a cuppa and a nice slice of cake!

I loved this book! 4.5 stars rounded up to 5!
I adored each and every character. the pacing was perfect, the writing - easily accessible and the story was lovely.
Belle is a wonderfully relatable FMC that you come to really care about. She is well fleshed out and truly likable. I enjoyed the romance immensely, though slow burn, was sweet and fulfilling.
If you are a mood reader, this book is a perfect fit for autumn. Overall, this is a lovely, feelgood, Cozy book that will leave you smiling and in the best mood.
Thank you to Pan Macmillan and Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own and I am posting them voluntarily.

Rewitched is a cozy fantasy about a witch fighting to keep her magic. Bella may be a witch, but she lives a mundane life working in a bookstore, hiding her magic from her best friend/roommate, and only wielding magic for the most basic and practical of uses. Unbeknownst to her on her 30th birthday, she must undergo a trial to test her worthiness as a witch who hasn’t wasted her magic’s potential. Now she has 30 days left to prove her worth with the help of an exiled warlock mentor and an infuriating coven watchman while dealing with a toxic boss who is ruining her beloved bookstore.
I really struggled through the first 40% of this book which was just mostly set-up that was exceedingly slow, maddeningly uninteresting, and made Bella come across as completely unlikably self-sabotaging. It just took too long to get to the point, stringing us along the unremarkable part of the plot with some cutesy character moments that felt annoying instead. But once the challenge is set and Bella meets her mentor, I was completely on board. So I both did not like and loved this book.
Bella’s struggle with her chauvinistic boss over the bookstore (that was completely within her power to take over) just felt unnecessary. I see what the author was trying to do by adding some gender politics, but this could have been done better. I think all these non-magical parts of the story just felt perfunctory and took away from the better magical part.
I loved Bella’s struggle to blossom her magic under the mentorship of the surprisingly cozy and grandfatherly Artorius. Arty was just great in general and could have carried a book all on his own. I also liked Bella and her watchman Rune’s slowburn romance with their adorable banter and Rune’s tendency to come across more creepy than plnned. The mystery behind who has been thwarting Bella as well as Arty’s own checkered background made for a thrilling read that should have been the main bulk of the story from the get go (although I did see the villain coming from a mile away).
Rewitched is a cozy fantasy that did the magic, found family, and romance right while being bogged down by its nonmagical parts.

*Actual rating is 3.5 stars*
Rewitched is the cozy and witchy fall read for people who love magical realism over a fantasy world. Something that I can see would make this more appealing to people who might not read magical books very often.
It blends slice of life of a 30 year old, trying to juggle life and work, with literal magic sprinkled into the mix. There’s a cat familiar, wonderful best friends and family. I think I would have enjoyed it more if the whole plot of the bookstore and Belle’s indecisiveness around it wasn’t so frustrating to read. It was what held me back from loving it.

Rewitched is a stunning and charming magical fantasy, perfect for autumn! Lucy's writing transported me to a blustery day in October and I can't wait to reread this cosy novel, curled up under a blanket with a warm beverage in hand when autumn is in full swing. Belle Blackthorn is a relatable and witty bookseller whose journey of self-discovery and magical endeavours hooked me from the start! This is such a warm hug of a novel and I couldn't recommend it highly enough!

This was a sweet cozy autumnal magical read. I loved every character, every flaw and even though I'm not a cat person, I even loved the cat. I HIGHLY suggest you take a pumpkin latte, find your perfect spot and read this beauty.

This was exactly the cosy, magical and wholesome fantasy that was missing from my bookshelves. It had everything ranging from eccentric mage’s who loves food, a plot of coven domination, a strong female friendship that I literally adored, a protagonist who runs a bookshop, edible descriptions of food and coffee, and a romance that was slow burn and high intensity.
I loved the way that the author explores self-discovery using the transition of 29 to 30, where lots of people feel that they should have their lives figured out. The author shows that in reality, there is no linear destiny to follow, even in fantasies where anything is possible. As I’m on the cusp of my 30s, this was very relatable to me.
I also really enjoyed the magic system. I loved the freedom and pleasant nature to it. Those who loved The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, this is your next obsession.

I loved this so much that I have already preordered the exclusive Waterstones addition. This is the perfect autumnal cosy witchy read with sweet romance and a fantastic main character. I cannot recommend it enough!

I ADORED this. The writing was delicious and the characters fun. I really hope there's more.
The ideal book to curl up with on a blustery, rainy, autumnal day, all cosy in a blanket with a hot drink.

Belle is turning thirty and potentially about to loose her magic powers - and gets paired with a mentor to stop that from happening.. until they realise they have to tackle the coven leaders together who have built the coven on a lie.
I’ll be honest, I found this very slow. It had an easy writing style, relatable language etc but the storyline is a bit slow for my liking. - it is giving witchy cozy vibes for the autumn.

This is the easiest 5 stars I have given on a book review. I loved it. I loved the twists and the characters. Some of the characters took me back to childhood favourite reads (mainly the teachers in The Worst Witch). I love Lucy's writing style and felt like it was a story a friend wrote. I loved it.

I thought this book was going to follow along similar lines to other books in the fantasy romance genre. I was delighted when it had all the best parts of romantasy: cosy, found family, and magic but the rest of the plot veered in a different direction. If anything, this book is about self love & being brave enough to believe in yourself.
I thoroughly enjoyed Belle’s journey of rediscovering her magic (I thought the motivations why she neglected them in the first place was super relatable too), the mystery around her mentor’s past, the motley crew of characters that were dedicated in helping her, and the little twist at the end that I didn’t see coming!
I knocked a star off because, while I appreciated the sweet love story taking a backseat to the main plot, I would have liked more of Rune’s backstory & why he felt so drawn to Belle.
But, all in all this was a winner! I’m looking forward to reading more of Wood’s books & would love a follow up or interconnected standalone to Rewitched - Ari’s love story perhaps…?

Rewitched is a cozy fantasy book about self love. The cover immediately caught my eye and is simply gorgeous. The book has a lovely premise, with the main character being 30 years old and trying to find her place in the world, which is fantastic. I particularly enjoyed the found family aspect and Rune is the perfect love interest for Bella. The romance was quite enjoyable. However, my main issue was with the pacing. While I liked the story overall, I found the beginning to be a bit slow for my taste. I believe this book is perfect for the fall season. Grab a cup of coffee and curl up with this book. If you're looking for a positive book with lovely characters, definitely pick this book up. Thanks to the Netgalley and the publisher for the arc. I'll post my review closer to the publication date.

Belladonna Blackthorn’s magic might be on the backburner, but as she juggles her demanding job at Lunar Books with her witchcraft in hiding, her thirtieth birthday throws her into a high-stakes trial that could strip her of her powers forever. With a ticking clock and dark forces at play, Belle must rally her allies, confront her inner doubts, and rediscover her spark before it’s too late. Enchanting and uplifting, this book is a spellbinding reminder of the power of self-love and community.

This was so much fun and had a really interesting plot as well as a slow burn romance.
I really enjoyed the different layers; the work place, the flatmate, the family dynamics and of course the coven challenges. It worked really well and was definitely one of my favourite witchy reads.
Perfect wholesome autumn reading.
