I just raced through this book in 12 hours. I could not get enough of the mystery of 2 best friends whose lives are upended by one’s child being killed and the other being kidnapped. When one of the friends goes missing, readers will question every assumption made. Who can be trusted? And who is to blame? Kathryn Croft has crafted yet another fine psychological thriller. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Wow, wow, wow!! This had absolutely everything and then some! I went in not expecting what I ended up with, this book was amazing.

Loved the style of writing with the story being told in two prospectives of the 'before' in Rachel's voice and the 'now' in Holly's voice. Loved discovering the greater depths of Rachel through the friendship and loyalty of Holly.

So many characters and twists and turns, and not a wasted line throughout! So much intensity, with interlinks between characters and a real sense of tension and excitement. It's a real who done it that left me guessing until the end.

Pretty much every 'before' chapter ended with a new cliffhanger..at one point I ended a chapter open mouthed and needing a minute to gather my thought process because I simply wasn't expecting the new twist. I devoured this read, I absolutely loved it and will definitely be recommending this as a must read...amazing!!

I’ve really been enjoying Kathryn’s books! I was very excited when I received the arc for two mothers. What an interesting read! Rachel and Holly are friends who have daughters the same age. But then Rachel’s daughter dies which is very hard for Rachel. A year later, Luna is taken and found a few days later. Who took her? Could it have been Rachel? I definitely went back and forth on who I thought might of taken her. Soon after she’s found, Rachel goes missing. Which isn’t like her. She loves her son and would never leave him. Where did she go? Was it her husband? The book was a little dark. There was enough going on to keep me interested. I found the ending to be a little sad but also happy and underwhelming at the same time. I’m so glad I got the chance to read this book. If you’re looking for a good psychological thriller, I’d definitely recommend this book! Thank you NetGalley, Kathryn and Bookouture for the ARC!

Another fast paced thriller read from one of my favourite authors who never disappoints me. I was involved in the storyline and the characters from the very first page and the ending was indeed a surprise.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this brilliant ARC which I can thoroughly recommend and I look forward to the next one from this author.

Absolutely loved this book, finished in 4 days. The multiple perspectives, time frames and twists kept me interested and guessing right until the very end! The characters were all well thought out with back stories which tied together towards the end of the book.

3.5 stars

Two Mothers is emotional and gripping. usually, i read thrillers for the twists - but with Two Mothers, the characters and their dynamics played a huge role in how engrossed i was in the book. this was heading towards a solid four stars; Kathryn Croft handles some complicated relationships with a lot of maturity, giving every character care & dimension. Croft tackles several storylines, but brings them together admirably. these relationships propel the suspense, and add a lot of meat to the story. Holly and Rachel are both interesting characters, and the reader sympathizes with both women. every decision they take feels grounded in reality, and i connected with both characters. it was intriguing to be in their head and watch their stories unfold - right up until the 80% mark.

i ended up settling on 3.5 stars because of the last 20% of the book. the mystery is abruptly half-resolved, and the book finishes on an uncharacteristically open-ended note. characters are thrown haphazardly into the conclusion / final reveal, making the situation lose credibility. there's no real closure for Holly or the reader - even though most of the threads are right there, ready to be neatly wrapped up, making the half-resolution feel unnecessary.

i would recommend Two Mothers more as a lit-fic / for the characters and how Croft writes about complicated situations, rather than the mystery. still, a lot of the reveals early-on are handled very well, and the end may work for other readers that don't mind some chaos ! i did have fun reading this, and i'm interested in what else KC has in store.

thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest review!

WOW!!! As usual Kathryn Croft did not disappoint!! As one of my must read authors I was excited to read this domestic thriller. It was a book I couldn't put down and a book I couldn't stop thinking about.

Told from two POV'S, Holly and Rachel are mothers and best friends. Both have little girls who are also best friends. One mother will lose her daughter to a car accident and one will have her daughter taken in the middle of the night.

Full of lies and secrets we see these moms come together to support each other during their time of need. When Rachel disappears Holly must trust her instincts about her friend and continue her quest to find her. The closer Holly gets to the truth the more dangerous it becomes.

Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of this book

If you're into mystery/thriller/suspense books you need to read this book! I literally read it all night until I finished it because it was THAT good. I thought it might be like a Lifetime movie (I love Lifetime btw) where the typical plot is a mother who steals another mother's child and tries to pass it off as their own, BUT NO. This has so many twists and turns and surprises it had me on the edge of my seat trying to piece together what was going on. My favorite character was Holly because she was so courageous and didn't stop pushing forward for her friend, even after she discovered something about her that would have made some people become very vindictive and cutoff. She is a true friend, an amazing wife, and lovely mother. I give this book a straight 5 stars because any book that holds my attention in one sitting ,start to end, is worthy of 5 stars. I'm not too familiar with this author but after this book I will be getting familiar with her for sure. I'm definitely a fan! Read this book!

Also, thank you to the publisher/author and NetGalley for approving me for this ARC. Definitely worth it!

Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. The publication date is the 5th July. What a suspenseful, twisty plot it had me gripped to my kindle and I devoured it in one sitting! I was the edge of my seat throughout! I loved the character Rachel as I would always wonder what would happen next.

Another fantastic book by Kathryn Croft she is the queen of twists! OMG what an ending I literally couldn’t believe it I was lost of words! I’d highly recommend her books ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars!

This was a highly engaging, gripping domestic thriller that I really enjoyed. Well written and believable, with twists and turns and the odd red herring!,

Friendships form because people share something important, like a hobby or connections through their kids. It's not about always agreeing but supporting each other, especially during tough times.

Differences in how friends deal with problems can strain their bond. In the story, Rachel tries to help Hollie, leading to unexpected challenges...

This engaging tale kept me glued to the pages as the strong female characters prioritize their children. The husbands add another layer of complexity to the story.

This book had a little bit of everything...some red herrings, some unlikable characters (which changed from time to time), some twists and turns, some surprises! It was a little confusing at first, with the changing timelines and the number of characters. That didn't last too long, though. It moved right along, and became easy to follow the characters.

I enjoyed this book a lot because of the fast pace. I would recommend this book to everyone.

Two Mothers
By: Kathryn Croft
Pub Date: July 5, 2024
Publisher: Bookouture

Friends, mothers, death and the daughter who binds them. Rachel and Holly are friends and one of them lost their daughter. Rachel is trying hard to be happy for Holly whose daughter is growing and is a part of their lives, while keeping her grief in check. Rachel has an abusive husband and another child to care for. Now Luna is missing, and Rachel is a suspect.

Croft is a go-to author for a domestic thriller and I always look forward to her novels. The twist was not what I expected, which is always exciting.
Thank you Bookouture for the gifted copy.

I always love this authors book so I was so excited to read this and wow it did not disappoint. It was excellently written thriller. There were so many twists and turn I felt it was such a rollercoaster of read. From start to finish I could not put it down until the very end and wow what a jaw dropping ending it was really did not expect. I loved the writing style and how the characters were so well written I felt there heartache throughout. Once again this author has written an exemplary thriller. I will definitely be recommending this to everyone. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this amazing thriller.

Two Mothers by Kathryn Croft is another twisty page-turner from an author who has become an automatic read for me.

Holly and Rachel are best friends who are fiercely devoted to their young daughters. But the dynamic of their relationship shifts when Rachel's daughter dies. One year on, the two are still friends, though Holly wonders if it is difficult for Rachel to see her with her own thriving daughter, Luna. When Luna disappears, Holly's world shatters, and things intensify even further when, two days later, Rachel's husband reports that she has also gone missing. Is it a terrible coincidence, or could the two events, in fact, be linked?

I never fail to devour the writing of Kathryn Croft, and her latest is another must read.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for an ARC.

Rachel and Holly are best friends and they have daughters the same age, all is well until Rachel’s daughter, Evie dies after a car accident. After that their friendship is never really the same.
One night Luna, Holly’s daughter disappears from her bedroom, a few days later as they recover Luna, Rachel disappears too.

Two mothers is a story of an incredible friendship, despite everything what really shines is their loyalty towards each other. When everyone believes that Rachel is the one behind Luna’s abduction, Holly refuses to believe it, she never gives up on Rachel even when everyone and everything is telling her to. Rachel is the same, after making a terrible mistake (though to be fair I don’t see that event as consensual), she does everything to make it right. A little distance and a traumatic event are not enough to break the bond between Rachel and Holly. Both are wonderful characters, they go through so much trauma and pain, but at the end of the day, they never give up on each other.

Elijah and Damien, the husbands are both monsters. In different ways of course, I feel like Damien is pure evil when Elijah is just a regular asshole. Both do not deserve their wives and yes I did wish something would happen to them (they deserved it). Other men are thankfully not that bad. Jake is a great character and I wish we could have seen more of him and Rachel and how they could have build a relationship despite the terrible even that made they meet. They both deserved it. Ross doesn’t have much of a personality to be honest, but I’m glad he was in Holly’s life, cause he was nice. Only characters that I felt were really a miss were the kids Oscar and Megan, I mean they’re here for the plot obviously, but the way they’re written was not satisfying. And in this day and age, Megan’s actions made me very uncomfortable (which is why this book won’t be 5 stars, well that and a couple other reasons).

The case (well the cases) is probably the weakest part of the book, I know sad for a thriller but what works best is really the bond between Holly and Rachel. I did find the irony that Rachel spends most of her life surviving a monster to end up meeting another one, felt very true to life. But the whole Oscar/Ryan thing was a little over the top for me, and it also felt like the reveal didn’t really pay off for anything. Also I would have changed the ending with Rachel actually pulling off make everyone believe she was dead and running away. Cause the actual ending was just too sad.

Despite those little points I didn’t like, still a beautiful story about the strength of women friendships

Wow, just when you thought you knew what would happen, something shifts and another new piece is added to the mystery! So many twists and turns, I was kept guessing from beginning to end. While a couple characters were unlikeable and I questioned others actions, the ending tied up loose ends and I would recommend to add to your TBR list.

Little Luna is kidnapped from her bedroom one night and Rachel makes the perfect suspect, having lost her own daughter not too long ago….until she herself goes missing. Rachel’s husband doesn’t seem too upset his wife had now gone missing. Did he do something to her? Did her orchestrate Lunas kidnapping to make it look like Rachel did it? Holly (Luna’s mom and Rachel’s best friend) is a journalist and will stop at nothing to find her daughter and the truth.
