DNF. I couldn't get into the writing or world in this book. I'm usually very excited and fond of Middle-east literature, but after about 15% of the way in, I couldn't immerse myself in the characters or world. The narrative is too much history--which is heavily fabricated, meaning too many liberties were taken. The book's contents focus heavily on history, politics, and colonialism, and I was hoping for less of this and something more character-driven. It ended up just not being a book for me. It would interest someone more interested in studying colonialism and politics.
