Absolutely FANFUCKINGTASTIC! I couldn’t put it down…

I grabbed this randomly from @netgalley but then realised it was written by @kirstenmillerbooks the same author who wrote The Change

The story cented around a lil library put together by the towns biggest pearl clutchy Karen do-gooder, but they are switched out for banned books hidden inside the fuddy duddy covers - craziness ensues!

A did audio nd the narrator was impeccable, proper well suited to the story, the range of accents were class

The story was just my cuppa, so well written, perfectly conveyed and the kinda mini sections covering banned books broke up the book way better than standard chapters

The plot was so so clever, a book about books nd the inclusion of really relatable characters as well as some you will love to hate is just so on point

Interestingly enough it comes in the same week as Mr Potato Face yacky cacky Trump is convicted and he makes a sneaky appearance in the book!

I don’t wanna say too much because al spoil it, but the ending was banging, so SO good!

Ad usually give “if ya like this buy that” kinda reccos, but this is a pretty unique read and a can’t think of summit similar, the closest a suppose is Midnight Library, not coz of the plot but because of the feel good factor

My five star books this year have so far been amazing but also stories that made me cry, this was the opposite it made me laugh and warmed me heart, finished it smiling

Super diverse characters and really relevant social issues make up the perfect plot. I literally started this yesterday and have had it blasting thru me AirPods all day/night coz a just wanted to know what would happen next

Three words… refreshing, relevant, perfectly-timed (ok Ano that’s four but who cares)

Why wouldn’t ya wanna read a book with drag queens, witch craft nd cock shaped cakes!? 🎂

It needs to be a @netflix series defo

Check out rumandmonkey.com ta get ya very own trailer trash name. A shall henceforth be known as Urleen Ruby Rae (thanks to @candyhornbuckle )

Pic stole from Amazon coz a did the audio 🎧

This was such an interesting concept. The banning of books has always fascinated me and frankly makes me want to read them, I’ve never been more shocked by the content than the actual banning, as an aside to my review, the author suggests a selection of banned books at the end, some of which hadn’t been on my radar, but are now in my to be read list. I can genuinely see this title being added to a banned list somewhere.

Set in Troy, Georgia, a town of good god fearing people, good old boys, peach pies and gossip, people seem to be straying a little and Lula is determined with parents groups to ban books that are ruining their children’s future, corrupting their minds.

The book starts out with short story chapters. Each of which were enjoyable, and each offers an introduction to characters that come together eventually to make the whole story. As the book progresses and Lula’s library opens there are some brilliant stories, some side splitting moments, and the initial stories start to fall into place, but there are also some really sickening and devastating events, I don’t want to spoiler so I’m trying to be careful, but there are references to shootings, naziism, racism, homophobia that tie into what has made an outstanding novel. I wasn’t expecting this at all, I thought it’d be a quirky little tale, but wow, it delivers powerful and thought provoking content. I can’t honestly do it justices in a review.

“Feminist whore” - Watch your mouth you can’t go around calling people feminists 🤯

“The same people who let their kids shoot hookers in grand theft auto won’t let them read books” 🤔🤔

A powerhouse of a book!!!!

The narration was a brilliant fit!

All the stars 🌟
