This is a must-read book I don't want to give any spoilers, but you won't regret getting this book, you won't put it down till you're done reading the whole this.

Love a good villain gets the girl story! The lore here and the slow burn had me reading as fast as I could turn the pages. The cover got me, but the story kept me. Will be looking forward to more from this author!

Well written and very engaging. The world building was done well and the characters were all very gripping and I was really able to connect with them.

My first thought about this book was about the cover, its beautiful! I thought the writing style was really beautiful as well. I will say it didn't stray from the usual romantasy formula, and could have used something to make it stand out more.

Night of Death and Flowers by Rebecca L. Garcia Review
Star rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice Rating: 🌶️
Getting into this book took some effort, but once the story gained momentum, it became much more engaging. The beginning felt slow, and it took me a while to connect with the characters and the world, but after a few chapters, I started to enjoy the flow of the writing. The plot was familiar in some ways yet fresh enough to keep me intrigued, and as the story progressed, I found myself more invested in the characters and their journey.
One of the standout aspects was the detailed lore surrounding the gods and their powers. The glossary and pronunciation guide were incredibly helpful in keeping track of the various elements in this world. While the book hinted at a higher level of romance and spice, it didn’t quite deliver on that front. However, in this case, I didn’t feel like it detracted from the story—if anything, the focus on world-building and character development made up for it.
There were some moments that felt a bit forced or unnecessary, like the sudden use of a nickname that never came up again. Additionally, I noticed a number of typos and small continuity errors, but since this was an ARC, I’m hopeful those will be fixed in the final version. The pacing was a little uneven, with some sections dragging while others felt rushed, but overall, it kept me interested enough to continue reading.
The foreshadowing throughout the book was well done, and the plot reveal was satisfying without being overly predictable. The ending left things open for the next book, but it wasn’t a devastating cliffhanger. It left me curious enough to want to see where the story goes next.
Despite some flaws, Night of Death and Flowers was an enjoyable read, and I’ll be keeping an eye out for the sequel. If the next book smooths out some of the pacing issues and polishes the writing a bit more, I think this series has great potential.

Night of Death and Flowers by Rebecca L. Garcia is a dark and gripping fantasy that weaves together magic, fate, and betrayal. Calista, a witch wielding a forbidden power, must navigate a world where her very existence is a danger to herself and those she loves. When she dares to disrupt the deadly Harvest tournament, she sets off a chain of events that forces her into an uneasy alliance with Azkiel, the God of Death, whose return marks the beginning of an ancient prophecy. As secrets unravel, Calista faces a harrowing choice between saving her loved ones or succumbing to the darkness within. With high stakes and intense world-building, Garcia delivers a thrilling, high-tension story about destiny, sacrifice, and the cost of power.

This was definately a slow burn. It is a lot of info dump and world building. I love a good villian gets the girl! It was a long one but good. It was enough to keep me intrigued and want to continue to the next book when it comes out.

Forming an alliance with our MFC Calista, the God death Azkiel to prevent his downfall by way of a prophecy that includes her in an intertwined fate. I overall enjoyed it, but as I read an ARC I did feel it needed more work on the worldbuidlin, it felt slow and all at once at the same time. I also felt that the book was taking too long to be plot driven. Mixed with a Harvest tournament and deadly siblings it's got all the tropes i would want. I did really enjoy the romance. The writing style needed work especially on the Character's emotional growth but overall, they did evolve and had a great thoughtfulness to them

This book reminded me a lot of Kerri Maniscalco’s stories. The world building is great and the writing is on point. The writing was very descriptive and easy to understand. It felt a bit repetitive at times but overall I enjoyed it.

One thing I love is a good fantasy I love a book that can make me forget what's going on in the world and go into an imaginative world where the impossible happens and you meet characters and creatures you would never meet for real and this book had ot all

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book. I greatly appreciate the vulnerability as well as long hours and love that is poured into your work.
I found that while the plot was greatly intriguing with the dark aspects of death and the tension between the MMC and MFC, I am perhaps just a little overdone with books that remind me of the Hunger Games and find that this causes the plot to dissipate and I lose my interest. Thank you again for sharing your work!

The Harvest is coming and soon eleven of us will be dead.
An enemies to lovers tale where death has family issues and a woman who wants to protect her sister at all costs against become a sacrifice.
What a way to start a synopsis with a fight to death with literal death being a hot a shadow daddy who you don’t know if you wanna stab him or give him kisses
Overall this book was pretty solid read but treads across familiar ground in a shadow daddy romance which was a tad disappointing since I’ve seen stories that handled the shadow daddy genre a tad better but it did its best.
The characters were okay, nothing too spectacular. The storyline was probably the best part. The last 100 pages had me hooked and interested to see where the second book will go.
Would I recommend it? Yeah for the most part cause I can see the sequel making up for a the little rocky start this book was for me.

This is a rich, enchanting tale that blends dark fantasy with elements of romance and mystery. Set in a world filled with lush, gothic aesthetics, the novel captivates with its eerie, yet beautiful atmosphere, where magic and danger go hand in hand.
The story centers on a strong-willed protagonist whose journey is fraught with peril, from facing supernatural threats to navigating the murky waters of complex relationships. Garcia excels at crafting morally gray characters, each harboring their own secrets, making the dynamics between them feel charged with tension and intrigue.
What stands out in this novel is its careful balance of dark fantasy elements and character-driven storytelling. The plot unfurls with an intoxicating sense of dread, building suspense as the protagonist confronts deadly forces and uncovers hidden truths. The writing is lyrical, drawing you into a world where death and beauty are intertwined, and every decision carries weighty consequences.
“Night of Death and Flowers” will appeal to fans of dark fantasy who appreciate immersive world-building, slow-burn romance, and high stakes. It’s a book that skillfully weaves mystery, magic, and heart-pounding tension into a captivating narrative.
Many thanks to Netgalley, the publisher, and the author for providing me with an ARC and allowing me to provide my honest review

This book had a lot of potential, the storyline is thought through and the characters back stories are complex enough, but something felt missing that I can't quite put my finger on. Having a glossary at the start felt like a lot of info dumping to absorb, I'd of loved to see this introduced slowly throughout.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing this ARC! This book was pretty solid!! Very descriptive writing that painted the setting and scenes really well. It was super intriguing and made it easy for me to picture what was going on. Super pretty writing!
The main thing was that it seemed to drag on for a while. Some chapters seemed monotonous and repetitive. I feel like it could have been more concise and straight to the point.
But overall, Rebecca Garcia has crafted a solid, mystical, magical story and I’m looking forward to seeing what comes next from her!
3.5 stars

Really well written romantasy along the likes of Keri maniacalo or the serpent and the wings of night. There is a great deal of world building in this novel. It’s almost overwhelming, but overall I was thankful for it by the end of the book. Character development between Azkiel and Calista is *chef’s kiss*

No I don’t want to wait for #2 I need to finish this!
This book sucked me in with a FMC who is sassy, spirited and not afraid to speak her truths. A unique magic system, an exciting new world. I loved this and can’t wait to read book 2! 😍

I feel like this review would be slightly different had I read a finished copy but as I didn't, my opinion is based on the ARC I received. This just had way too many grammatical errors and typos to be a smooth read, sometimes rendering sentences unreadable. The ideas were there but the writing was very clunky at times, like we GET IT he smells nice or the trees are the most beautiful thing you've seen on Earth, let it go. I had a good time with the story but it felt unfinished and like a third draft maybe, definitely in need of another round of editing. 2 stars

In this captivating fantasy romance, the author weaves a beautifully intricate world filled with magic, adventure, and an undeniable chemistry between the protagonists. From the very first page, readers are drawn into a richly imagined landscape where the stakes are high, and love transcends boundaries.
The characters are delightfully complex, each facing their own trials and transformations. Their journey is not just about romance; it’s about self-discovery and the courage to embrace one’s true self. The chemistry between them crackles with tension, making every shared moment feel electric and deeply meaningful.
The plot is expertly crafted, balancing moments of heart-pounding action with tender, intimate scenes that linger long after the book is closed. The author’s lyrical prose brings the settings to life, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves in the beauty and danger of this enchanting world.
Overall, this book is a delightful escape that deftly combines elements of fantasy and romance. It’s a testament to the power of love and the strength found in vulnerability. Perfect for fans of the genre, it’s a story that will stay with you long after you’ve turned the final page. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a magical journey of the heart!
