Billionaire Gordon Weaver is determined to be his clan chief even going to underhand ways to prove it He hires 2 crooks to undermine the real heir to the clan chief. Funny in parts but really stupid in others
I Really enjoyed this book. I love the characters, I love the storyline, and it had a great pace to it. It was a cozy read and it kept me entertained throughout the book. It had a lot of funny parts to it as well, which was nice.
Thank you to NetGalley, to the author, and to the publisher for this complementary ARC in exchange for my honest review!!!
The Missing Links of Tannadee by Maurice Gray is an entertaining, often laugh-out-loud tale set in the fictitious Scottish town of Tannadee. There is a whole lot going on here. The story begins with the kidnapping of a small dog who may be able to sniff out the whereabouts of a stash of stolen money. At the same time, an American businessman, Gordon Weever, has decided he wants to be the head of the McShallach clan despite having no historical claim but he has no compunction and plenty of money to achieve his goal by hook or by crook…mostly crook. Unfortunately, there is another candidate with a much better claim who is supported, not only by the committee which will ultimately decide, but by Weever’s daughter and son-in-law. In the end, it’s agreed the decision will be made by the outcome of a soccer…sorry, football game. I’m no expert on football leading to perhaps the funniest game ever. The Missing Links of Tannadee is a funny and charming story full of memorable characters and heart. and I loved every hilarious word of it.
Thanks to Netgalley and Troubador for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review
This is a fun caper that makes for perfect summer reading. Its tone is somewhere near the crossroads of Dashiell Hammett and P.G. Wodehouse, with lots of banter but few threats worse than an unwelcome guest.
Not having read the author's previous Tannadee book, it took me a while to figure out who everyone was. I also had no previous investment in them, so I honestly thought the dog's storyline was the main caper and Weever's just an annoying distraction!
It all started with a kidnapped dog and the craziness continues from there! Weever wants to be the Clan Chief but when there is someone better for the position hilarity ensues as he uses many tactics to get his way.
This book was a nice read! It’s different from the genres I usually go to but it was quite enjoyable.
This was a mystery that grabbed my attention from the very first page. I enjoyed it very much! Pick this one up!
This book was wonderful! i absolutely adored the main characters, the plot, and the heart griping story. Wonderfully written. I was engulfed from the beginning and couldn't wait to see how the author would end it. Beautiful book
The humour is uninhibited and perfectly timed. The burlesque style of storytelling prompts an eccentric cast of characters into their over-the-top vocal and physical antics. It would be a mistake to try to take any of it seriously!
If they were still making silent films the plot here would adapt into slapstick at its finest.
I don't think there has ever been a gathering of the Scottish clans that led to such mayhem as is let loose here.
Just as one recovers from a furious bout of laughter, another crazy situation kicks off...a kidnapped dog...the trouserless firefighters...a hunt for buried treasure...and a football match almost impossible to visualise...it's guaranteed to make you laugh until you cry.
