This novel was extremely informative even for readers who know quite a bit about the French Revolution. I enjoyed reading about Thomas Paine and his involvement in the Revolution as a philosopher. I also found it fascinating to know more about Camille Desmoulins who as a journalist risked a lot... The main topic apart from the Terror was the themes of loyalty, of treason. It was also very scary to realise that actually everyone risked their head... The structure of the novel was a bit too complex due to some long monologues telling about his/her own life. It broke the smoothness of the plot even though it was always interesting! I could feel the constant fear, stress of all characters throughout the whole novel rendering the story compelling and thrilling. A great read!
