I finished this audiobook in 2 days. I had it set to 2x the speed and it was the perfect flow. The beginning had so much promise! It was thrilling and twisty and kept you guessing on who “the woman” was.

After the wedding part, you start to find out a lot of what was hidden. While yes, it wasn’t expected, it was bizarre and seemed so far fetched. I didn’t care for the ending at all, as everyone’s reasons seemed to odd.

All in all, it was entertaining to start, just fell flat for me.

Brynn is engaged to Nathan who’s an attorney.
While he’s away defending a high profile murder case the mother in law, Debbie, shows up uninvited to ‘help’ Brynn with the wedding. We find out later that Debbie has a strained relationship with her son and wasn’t invited to the wedding.
Brynn starts receiving creepy threats and slowly realizes someone is out to sabotage this wedding.
Could it be the mother in law? She wouldn’t be the first! 🤣

I found the story far fetched and the characters hard to connect to. Hard to say if it was the narration. The voice was very robotic. I also found it was very repetitive in spots. Overall, the premise had promise but unfortunately was not for me.

This is a new author to me and was intrigued by the title and cover but I found this hard to get into and found it a bit slow in part and then felt a bit rushed at the end unfortunately not my favourite audio book and didn't love the narrator either. It took me a moment to figure out why this book just didn't work for me and ultimately, I didn't care about the characters. The premise was appealing, but I found myself disinterested in what was going to happen to the main character.

Woah! What a suspenseful thriller! Keeps you guessing until the end, and then even more twists!! Highly recommend, just moved to the top of my favorite books read in 2024!

This was a superb listen . The story was fantastic with plenty of twists and turns to keep my head in a spin at times. A gripping and unputdownable psychological thriller.

Creepy gifts, missing wedding items, canceled plans, and even more obstacles get in the way while Brynn works hard to keep everything on track.

Author L.G. Davis takes us on a wild ride through a group of people where everyone has something to hide and no one is who they seem. An avid reader of lite psychological thrillers will pick up on the red herrings right away, and might even notice the missing details, but I can guarantee this book will leave everyone with a sense of What the Eff did I just read?? Which is what we all come for and Davis does it well.

L.G. Davis writes a lite thriller in the company of Freida McFadden. If this first book, gifted to me from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review, is a solid example of her work then I am excited to begin diving into her backlog!
I listened to this book on Audio. Narrator Laurence Bouvard did a great job with the majority voice of Brynn, I got a good feel for her age and personality, and the minor character voices were both clear and distinguishable. This was a pleasant listen.

"The Woman at My Wedding" by L.G. Davis, narrated by Laurence Bouvard is a disappointing book. The premise had promise, but the execution was lacking.
The story follows Brynn, a woman who's about to get married to Nathan, an attorney, in a small oceanside town in Florida. The novel starts with Brynn's wedding dress fitting, where she discovers that her mother-in-law, Debbie, has arrived uninvited. Debbie is a complex character with a strained relationship with Nathan, and Brynn's past is shrouded in mystery.
The story takes a creepy turn when Brynn starts receiving ominous wedding-themed gifts and threats. However, her reaction to these incidents felt unnatural and unrealistic. She's overly calm and rational, which made it difficult for me to connect with her.
The biggest problem I had with this book was the lack of originality. The plot relies heavily on tropes that are familiar to fans of psychological thrillers. The characters' actions and motivations felt predictable and unauthentic. The reveals were somewhat anticipated, and the action and resolution felt like they were ripped straight from a thriller checklist.
The narrator, Laurence Bouvard, did an adequate job with the narration, but her voice was annoying to me. I think it's because I was expecting a different story.
Overall, "The Woman at My Wedding" was lacking. The story relied too heavily on familiar tropes, and the characters' actions and motivations felt unrealistic and unauthentic.

Brynn is the protagonist of this tale. She's just past her mid 30's and is nearing the end of her 8 month engagement to Nathan. Nathan is an attorney. They met and became engaged in Tallahassee which is where Nathan still is at the open of the novel. Brynn's friends are ladies she met through her connection to Nathan, we don't know much about her history other than that her family is not involved in her life. Brynn has moved to their new home ahead of Nathan and their wedding to, Stoneview, the small oceanside Florida town Nathan grew up in with his wealthy family.

The novel opens on day 30 of the count down to Brynn & Nathan's wedding. Brynn's at her final wedding dress fitting with friends when she discovers that her MIL, Debbie, has come to stay with her. Debbie wasn't invited to the wedding due to a strained relationship with Nathan. However Brynn can't ask Debbie to leave because of an unnamed incident in their shared past. Just before Debbie arrived Brynn received an ominous wedding themed gift and threat about the wedding never happening.
Another pov character is identified only as 'the woman'. The woman is definitely stalking Brynn with the intent of destroying the wedding but we don't know who she is or why she wants to destroy the wedding.

This is somewhat slow and requires a rather large suspension of disbelief just given Brynn's reaction and response to the creepy incidents as they happen. Brynn's thoughts don't feel organic or even reasonable. The reveals are somewhat anticipated but also extremely over the top. The action and resolution feel unnatural, unrealistic and unbelievable.

This has a decent and even interesting premise but the story is bogged down in tropes. I don't want to be unfair here, this genre, much like romance, is very much characterized by recognizable tropes. The trick is to not make the obvious tropes feel tropey. 😬 This novel fails in that slight trick of hand. All I can focus on are the tropes and it kinda makes the story feel flat and predictable.

The narrator of this audiobook is Laurence Bouvard. I found her voice annoying and probably would not choose to listen to another audiobook narrated by her. This is a reflection of my own personal preference and not a reflection on the narrator. The narration is perfectly satisfactory and performed without an issue at all.

This was a great popcorn thriller. The audiobook narration was concise and had me listening through in one go as it accompanied me while I packed boxes! I enjoyed the storyline and thought it was going to be quite clear cut on what was going to happen but then we hit the 75% mark and I was shocked at some of the twists that were thrown in. I am excited that there will be another book as I can't wait to read what happens next.

An enjoyable summer read!
This started off very light and easy to read and to be honest, I would have liked a little more detail. Yes she lives in a beautiful house but what makes it so? Anyway it had enough breadcrumbs to keep me interested and boy am I glad I followed the trail!
Without saying too much about the plot because I think it’s best to go into this one blind, I loved the twists and hadn’t worked them all out and can’t wait for the next in the series!
I really liked the narrator, sure she went a little higher to differentiate the lead but I thought it worked well over all.

4.5 rounded up. 'The Woman at My Wedding' promises drama, intrigue, and secrets - it delivers on all of the above!

Premise - It's Brynn's wedding day, but while she's head over heels in love with her fiancé, Nathan, someone seems determined to keep her from making it to the altar...

There were a few times where it the choice of perspective (first person) made me feel lied to, rather than just led astray, as a reader. I like to be confused and even have information withheld, but I don't like when characters think in ways that don't make sense inside their own heads. Even if I don't have all the information yet, they do and so they shouldn't have thoughts that assume they're missing information they have. That's really the only negative for this one, and why it's a 4.5 rather than a true 5, but the enjoyability factor was so high nonetheless that I rounded up!

'The Woman at My Wedding' has:
- So much drama (in all the best ways)
- Interpersonal messiness I could *not* look away from!
- Twists like a mountain road
- A cast full of awful people (I like my thrillers to be populated with love-to-hate types)
- Revenge, on multiple levels
- A style that made me say 'one more chapter' until oops, I hit the epilogue.

I listened to this as an audiobook while doing errands and it made it such a great time! The readers gave very strong performances, so I highly recommend trying out the audiobook - it definitely makes yardwork/housework more fun.

I really enjoyed this story but did not like the narration at all. It was very monotone, it reminded me of Siri or Alexa speaking. There was no emotion behind it, literally just someone reading it.

Aside from that I enjoyed the story and think L.G. definitely did a great job with this story. I can not wait for the second one!

I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to start the second one.

WOW! A brilliant book that had me gripped from start to finish!

There were so many possibilities and red herrings that I just couldn’t call it. “The woman” was determined that Brynn didn’t deserve Nathan because she was a terrible person. Brynn definitely has secrets, but it absolutely wasn’t what I was expecting and it changed EVERYTHING. When the big twists starting dropping, my mind was blown!

A cliffhanger of an ending has me excited for the sequel!

Narrator Laurence Bouvard did a brilliant job of bringing the two main characters to life.

Ok. I hate doing this, I hate 2 star reviews, and I’d usually rather not post them, but something absolutely didn’t work here, and before I continue I’m in a very clear minority on my views about this title.

The premise was interesting from the blurb. Unfortunately I couldn’t connect with the characters at all, I couldn’t find anything about them to hold my interest me or to make me feel invested in the story.

I can’t straight out blame the narrator, but I just didn’t gel with the voice either, it felt monotone, robotic and a bit clunky, and the same sentences seemed to be used over and over again. I wonder was it a bad fit for the book, or was the writing the issue, it’s oftentimes hard to tell when you’re not enjoying the narration.

Perhaps reading a hard copy would be a better fit?

I do apologise, I hate awful reviews that seem harsh, but I appreciate the opportunity to listen to this title from Bookouture Audio and NetGalley and hope it doesn’t put others off, but equally I felt I had to review honestly.

Super quick listen . Predictable and repetitive in spots but a page turner with a satisfyingly twisty ending. Getting ready to read the next in the series now. I will read/ listen to more of this author.
