I do love Lucy Foley’s brain, she plots and twists, then twists and plots some more - until we, her willing stooges have all that plot twisting unravelled for our delectable delight - just fabulous.
The Manor is ‘where it’s at’, The Manor is a high class hotel just opened this very weekend and is the brainchild of Francesca Meadows and her architect husband, Owen. Everything is perfect, everything is ready, that is, until it’s not. A body is discovered, there’s a fire and then there’s the Birds!
Thanks to Netgalley for providing an advanced audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Highly recommended.

I had only read one book by Lucy Foley before this and had found The Hunting Party slow. I have since read Foley's other books, The Guest List and The Paris Apartment, and while I enjoyed them more than The Hunting Party, The Midnight Feast is my standout favourite.
It seamlessly blends supernatural elements, folklore, and takes a cynical look at the divide between the countryside locals and the wealthy outsiders. However once you begin to dig deeper into the characters, more is at stake than it first seems.
I really liked how the timeline was quite staggered, it really helped build anticipation to the end and reveal unexpected twists. As with Lucy's other books there are multiple POVS to patchwork the story together.
I listened via Audio and found that the voice actors did a fantastic job at representing the characters and portrayed the emotions the characters go though beautifully.
An all in all spooky gripping thriller!

Thank you Netgalley, Harper collins audio and Lucy Foley for the audio arc of The Midnight Feast.
Narrated by Roly Botha; Laurence Dobiesz; Joe Eyre; Tuppence Middleton; Sarah Slimani
I have heard in my reading circles that Lucy Foley has written some great books, so I was excited to be accepted for The Midnight Feast.
This book is told from multiple POV in first person. I find books like this very immersive, especially when it's an audiobook.. The narrators Narrated by Roly Botha; Laurence Dobiesz; Joe Eyre; Tuppence Middleton and Sarah Slimani each had character of their own which made them pop right out of the book for me and made each MC distinguishable. All of them have great voices and were well chosen for their characters
The premise of the book is told on 2 timelines, in the past when the MC's were younger and present day, which is set as the celebrations of a new Manor Hotel is being opened, Both timelines are well defined and each memory from the past is clear from which MC. This is great because their backstories build their characters in such a way that it's easy to bond with them, whether you like to dislike them or you suss out whether they are unreliable or not. There is also a nice twist of folklore elements to this narrative and because it wasn't overdone, added a nice creepy atmosphere to the whole story. I enjoyed the whole book, its well paced and balanced with these elements worked very well. Im looking forward to picking up more of her books in the future,

Delving into The Midnight Feast is like devouring a slice of layer cake, with multi-level plotting making for a well-woven, deeply satisfying thriller.

I enjoyed the audio version of this book and felt that the cast of narrators brought the story to life. However at the start it was confusing with so many characters and took me a while to get into it. There were twists after twists but in some parts it was a slow burner and it felt as if it needed to pick up the pace again. I liked the setting and premise of the story.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest opinion

I’ve always been afraid of birds and this book shows why you should be too 😂
Ok so, this was a good one! For me personally, a sign of a great thriller is when I can’t predict the whole storyline in the first half. This story has several characters all with different motives whose lives intersect. You travel alongside the characters on the journey they have, of discovering the present but also the past. You have revelations alongside the characters.
Whilst I won’t go into detail about the story, for fear of giving something away, this book is told from different characters’ perspectives as they live, work, visit or stay at The Manor during its grand opening.
I usually love having multiple perspectives when reading (or listening, in this case), it was a little difficult at first to ascertain whose perspective we were heaving from in the audiobook (in particular with the men) especially when you add in the alternating timelines. However after a few chapters I was sucked in!
I almost wish I had read this with my book club to discuss all of our different theories about what would happen, but also glad I didn’t, as I don’t think I could have waited to finish this!
Thanks NetGalley and Harper Collins UK Audio (and Harper Collins) for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Absolutely adore this author. The book was well written in that it stirred up all sorts of emotions while I was reading it and made me want to keep turning the pages to find out what would happen next. Dark and compelling, a slow-motion collapse; I read it in 24 hours with my heart in my mouth. So good!

My first by Lucy Foley, and definitely not my last!
An evocative audiobook thriller set in an isolated manor, rich with folklore and shadowed by a dark past. The audiobook really brings the story alive, the narrators adding depth and intrigue as the plot unfolds.
On the manor's grand opening night, opulent displays of wealth dazzle the exclusive guests who indulge in fine dining, cocktails, and elite entertainment.
However, not everyone welcomes this new retreat or its affluent owner, Francesca. Soon, the evening takes a dramatic turn, engulfed in both metaphorical and literal flames, as hooded bird figures lurk menacingly in the woods. A deadly night unfolds.
The story unfolds through multiple perspectives, gradually revealing events from the past and present to unravel the mystery.
Pacey, with lots of twists and turns - this one will keep you on your toes throughout and I’ll definitely be a hit for thriller lovers.

I was automatically hooked with this audio. This is my first one I've listened too of Lucy Foley's, I was so excited.
The narrators were fantastic, the storytelling was great.
I was gripped throughout, with lots of twists and turns. Folklore superstitions, solstice celebrations, a fire and a body. As we listen to the story, the puzzle pieces make up the jigsaw. A great mystery! I loved it! Available now!
Thank you to Netgalley and HarperCollins Uk Audio

Two timelines, the same people, revenge and hurt. Young free and fun loving, the main characters begin by entering a summer of fun. After a hideous incident, the wheels are set in motion for a shocking revenge story.
Good always conquises evil.
A clever story, with a fitting ending.

I really enjoyed the audio version of this book and felt that the cast of narrators brought the story to life. This is a twisty turny mystery, that sometimes might benefit from picking up the pace slightly. I liked the setting and premise and enjoyed some of the twists that were revealed. Thank you for this preview

An atmospheric closed location audiobook thriller, which is steeped in folklore and the murky shadows of the past. On the opening night at the manor , there is a gaudy display of wealth as exclusive guests basque in fine dining, cocktails and exclusive entertainment. Yet, not everyone is pleased at the presence of this new retreat or taken with its wealthy owner Francesca. Before long, the evening goes up in metaphorical and literal smoke, whilst hooded bird figures frolic menacingly I the woods.. A deadly night awaits. The multiple perspectives drip feed us events from past and present to work out the mystery. The audiobook wiill definitely be a popular listen thos summer for thriller fans #themidnightfeast #lucyfoley @audiobook #netgalley

Not sure on this one really struggled to get into it. I usually really like mutiple pov but I think as it’s in audio it’s harder to keep up with who’s who. A good storyline to it just not for me unfortunately.

Audiobook - great narration, very dynamic and grabbing.
I loved this book, I could not stop listening to it. Its a brilliant, creative story and superbly written as well.
Absolutely recommend

Francesca Meadows has returned to her family’s country pile - Dorset coastline in this story but you catch my drift - and is launching her newly renovated Spa Hotel for the Uber wealthy. But as you’d expect, nothing us as it seems and there’s a huge backstory here from multiple perspectives which flick from past to present. Sadly out of these leading characters there’s probably only one you’ll be rooting for and that’s Eddie who is living in the shadow of a dead older sibling. The death is connected to the Hotel in its previous guise. Then there’s birds, big and black who keep shedding feathers everywhere and a village full of people resentful of the hotel. It all gets a bit confusing to be honest. It gave me real Nine Perfect Strangers vibes initially but Moriarty’s book shone throughout whilst this fizzled out like a damp squib. I’m sure Lucy Foley has a huge fan base who will love this before even reading it and as such my opinion won’t matter one iota. Praise though to the publishers whose marketing persuaded me to read this despite my option of her last book being meh too!

The Manor is getting ready for a grand opening on the weekend of Summer Solstice, but nothing is what it seems and nothing goes according to plan.
I listened to the Audio of this book and the narrators were fantastic, they really told the story well and it was easy to differentiate who was who.
The story is told from Bella, Eddie, Francesca and D.I. Walker's point of view with a few diary entries thrown in. You know from the beginning Bella has an issue with owner of the manor Francesca and I couldn't wait to find out. This has suspense, folklore, secrets and deaths galore. It had me guessing and turning the pages wanting to know how all the characters were connected and what made them come to The Manor.
I am a fan Of Lucy Foley's previous books and this did not disappoint, in fact I believe this is her best yet. Would highly recommend!

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins uk for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This is my third Lucy Foley book and although I have only found one absolute gem (the guest list) I’m still always intrigued by her novels.
This one was entertaining but rather middle of the road for me. I can usually rely on LF for a shocking twist/reveal but this one fell a little short and I found everything predictable. The story felt slow paced and not much actually happened throughout the middle of the book. However Foley is a master of creating a creepy atmosphere and I did enjoy the way the story played out.
The audiobook narration was fantastic, as always with an LF book! Narrated by a full cast with voices that matched the characters personalities, the audiobook really is the best way to consume this book, or any of Lucy Foley’s for that matter.

The book is set in a luxury hotel in Dorset on the opening weekend. Although the story starts there it also looks back at past events as they affected the various character and led to the current event.
It's a very clever book which keeps you guessing and has many twists. Just when you think you know what is going on another twist is revealed. Its difficult to review without copying the blurb or giving anything away so the best thing to do is just recommend that you listen to it..
I listened to the audiobook and the narration was excellent, great choices for the characters.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the DRC

Requested the audiobook as I’d previously read the arc, review below. *
Audiobook- narration was superb, and really added to the story. I absolutely love Lucy Foleys style of writing.
*Lucy Foley drops another multi pov twisty thriller. I definitely recommend. It’s filled to the brim with suspense and edge of your seat twists.

Fabulous! My favorite Foley thriller since The Guest List!! While it did take a little while to get into the story, once I did, there was absolutely ZERO looking back! This one sort of gave me end of season two of True Blood vibes IYKYK…
I truly think that audiobook is the way to go when reading anything from this author. The production is always freaking flawless. The full cast, the talented voice actors… they bring so much life to an already titillating story.
Something happened 15 years ago, something kept secret… until now. Now, the past is coming back to right the wrongs and we get to play party guest to the shenanigans. Francesca is preparing for the opening of her lavish luxury retreat, and there has been no expense spared. With guests arriving, staff hard at work, and locals defiantly crashing the party (so to speak), we learn very quickly that there is something, a presence, lurking in the woods, eager to unleash the horrors that have been covered for over a decade.
Through an incredible cast of characters, good, bad, with secrets and determination, we learn the truth, riveting as it is. Seeing how this unravels, how the characters are connected to each other and the bigger mystery at hand, was masterful. Every singe voice brings something different. And I had the BEST time listening to this book!
