I did find the book a little slow to start but once I got past this I enjoyed it more. I liked the story and the characters. I think other readers might like it.

A story brimming with heart! I fell in love with the characters and was rooting for them all the way. I can't wait for the next book to see the outcome for them. I enjoyed the various issues discussed with sensitivity.

Oh, I loved this story, just what I needed, Robyn and Fabian and their respective families, following them down several paths of love and friendship and careers, I just hope there's another book in this series because I need to know how they all get on

Fantastic read.
Life is great for Robyn she’s got the job of her dreams in a west end production and the man of her dreams in Fabian. It all seems to good to be true and unfortunately it is when it all comes crashing down. She falls during a performance and Fabian is a distant memory.
Heading home with her tail between her legs to Yorkshire to help her sister tame her wayward teenage younger sister when her mum ends up again in hospital and her dad’s his usual missing self. She ends up teaching as a means to support Sorrell in her new school, a job she has hated in the past but with the help of Mason the head teacher who knows what will happen.
Well written and a great feel good book

Overall I enjoyed this book. It felt unfinished, but I believe that's because it's part of a series. I don't think the romance was executed as well as it could have been. Loved the dynamic of the three sisters. There was humour at times. Some tough issues covered. A lot to like, and I will look forward to the next instalment.

This was a little all over the place so it wasn't a favorite. Covers a lot of different topics and familial challenges.

A really funny but touching book. It covers so many difficult topics but in an easy to read way and still keeps you interested and intrigued. Loved it, it made me smile.

A little different to Julie Houston’s previous novels. Robyn was living out her childhood dreams and finding love when an accident sees her return to her family home and struggling family. There’s soon a new love interest but the other issues raised of poverty, child abandonment and abuse, racism and general lack of opportunity are more interesting. As this is the first in a new series I’m looking forward to reading the next one.

I thought this was a bit different to Julie's usual work. I enjoyed it but I did miss hearing about the people of Westenbury! I'm a creature of habit and have kind of got used to catching up with those characters as if they are old friends!
Anyway, back to this book - I enjoyed the story and am hoping there might be a sequel later on as I feel there are still a few things that could happen to certain characters! I always enjoy Julie's work and this one didn't disappoint.

I did struggle with this one slightly. I loved the idea of the story and the blurb, however on reading the story it just lacked something for me. Fabian and Robyn’s romance felt fake and uncomfortable. I understand it’s two people from two different worlds coming together but it just didn’t gel for me.

The book picks up on important themes such as racism etc which is an important topic to discuss, wealth and how it affects you, dysfunctional families and poverty.

For me, I’m not sure I’d read any more of the series but if you like to read about abit of romance, women’s fiction and worldly behaviours then you may enjoy this book.

There were a few twists I didn’t expect which was nice to have in a book.

I’m not sure in which direction the author will take the second book so this book may have been more of a setting the scene book.

I was quickly drawn into Robyn’s story. She starts on a high with her dream job, performing in musical theatre on the West End, and the man of her dreams, Fabian, who is handsome, charming and intelligent. An accident during a performance results in a serious knee injury and Robyn is forced to leave London and return to her family home in Yorkshire to support her older sister in caring for her younger wayward sister whilst their mum is seriously ill in hospital.

Each sister has their own journey, discovering new relationships and taking on new challenges. There is a nice balance of humour with the ups and downs of relationships.

The stories of some characters are incomplete but hopefully they will be continued in the next in the series. I ended the book eagerly waiting the next instalment.

Loved this one! Great and fun read. Highly recommend.

A storyline that draws you in and you just want to follow the lives of the characters. Easy to follow and reasonable chapter lengths. Robyn is an actor or rather wants to be in musical theatre but the competition is fearsome. The book follows her and she has auditions, successes, failures and a whole host of interesting relationships and family. A story that contradicts itself every few sentences. The protagonist constantly complains that she lives above a turkish barber and a kebab shop and equals such neighbors with a dodgy neighbourhood. Then she is described as "exotic" because of her mixed background. This illustration mixed with the micro aggression and for the fact that the author is white seems racist. The tone is also odd as I first though the story was set in the 1800s but it is actually today but everyone speaks super posh despite being from the northern part of England. I couldn't get into the (lovestory) as for the first third everything was simply odd, contradictory and annoying.

Robyn’a life is going amazing, with her hard work paying off in the form of a spot in a West End show, and a handsome lawyer boyfriend, Fabian, to share it with, things couldn’t be better. But an accident and a family crisis will send her home to Yorkshire. And an argument means she is single again. With her show business career on hold she reluctantly takes a teaching position at her sisters new school. And with a principal that seems to find her irresistible her time up North might be less lonely then she thinks.
Ok, I really like Robyn. Her character growth was great and she was a fun character to read about. I loved the storyline surrounding her family. I didn’t love either love interest and the romances that came with them. Where the family and personal storylines felt natural the romance side felt awkward and stilted. The ending also felt a little rushed, it felt like there were a few plot points that were just thrown away. This is a going to be a series and I don’t know what the next book will hold, there might be a longer plan for these characters and story points that will be addressed in the next book.

This was a great book. It handle some tougher topics in a great way. And I absolutely loved the main characters. I would recommend this book!

Loved this books! And I love that it talked about different main problems that we face in our life. Easy read.

How exciting- a new series of books from this excellent author. An easy read full of warmth, a bit of heartbreak, a paedophile, county lines, dysfunctional families and a couple of twists I didn’t see coming. It ended all too abruptly for me, I realise it is part of a new series but I long to find out how Jess does in the competition!

I absolutely love Julie Houston books and this one is no exception.

This story is one of self discovery, family ties, falling in love and finding yourself where and when you least expect it.

It's is heartfelt and heartwarming, with gentle humour and realistic and thoughtful explorations of familial issues and the trials of falling in love that some of us experience.

Absolutely loved it and can't wait for more from these characters.

A very good read. This story covered many issues including poverty, education, disappointment and trying to achieve dreams for the future. There were funny moments, sad moments and examples of what hard work to overcome difficulties can achieve. Definitely a book filled with social messages but nonetheless very entertaining.
