Regally Binding is spicy and swoony bodyguard romance.
I had super high hopes for this book. I love Princess Diaries and love this idea of a Princess Diaries-esk book that had a spicy twist to it. I enjoyed reading this book, but I didnโt love it.
I had super high hopes for this book. I grew up loving Princess Diaries, and when I came across this book and saw it was a spicey version of Princess Diaries, I knew I wanted to read it. Unfortunately, this one didn't click with me. It is indeed very spicy, and there is plenty of dirty talk throughout the book, but something just didn't work for me. I think I had a problem with the pacing, and some of the dialogue just didn't flow the way the author may have wanted it to. Sometimes romance books that have banana, whack-a-doodle plots work and sometimes they don't. I think them working or not working depends on the reader. I am sure there are readers out there who are going to devour this book and love it to bits, but I am not one of them. For this review, I will go over the good and bad aspects and let you decide if it's a book for you.
Let's start with the good. I love a book with lots of drama; the more ridiculous and bat-shit crazy the drama or, hell, the story is, the better. This book definitely falls under the only would happen in Romanceland plot. Our heroine, Liss, has just discovered that she is the long-lost granddaughter of the King of England and potentially the heir to the throne. As you can imagine, this creates quite an uproar both in society but also within the royal family. Liss finds herself in a dangerous situation. Her grandma leaves her in the care of two very broody bodyguards. Liss instantly has lusty chemistry with Bear, who is one of the bodyguards. The plot in this book is bonkers and I like it. There are many ridiculous things that happen in this book, and it is fabulous. If you are a fan of bodyguards, force proximity, royalty, and broody hero romances, then you might enjoy this book. Bear's character surprised me. I thought he would be this alpha male character, but he really has this soft side to him that I wasn't expecting. Some of the dirty talk that comes out of Bear's mouth is VERY spicey and we get a taste of it right from the first moment we meet him. There is chemistry between Liss and Bear, and if you like your romances to have that lusty tension, you will enjoy the romance between Liss and Bear.
Now, let's chat about the bad things about this book. Let's start with the pacing; it felt a bit off at times. There were moments when I felt like I was going at breakneck speed and then suddenly things would slow down to a crawl. It really created this unpleasant reading experience. While spicey at times, the dialogue between Liss and Bear didn't necessarily flow the way I hoped it would. Part of it was because Bear's character would go from hot to cold in the blink of an eye, which caused the dialogue to abruptly change in a jarring way.

This was such a fun time! The banter was on point for me, but it was just so fun. Reminded me a lot of Twisted Games

this was so cute for what!! I absolutely loved this book, and I was in love with these characters. I thought this was adorable and it was cute.

Fun, cute read, might recommend, might not
I'm the biggest royalty romance lover so I was very excited to read this book. It had everything to be a great book and I couldn't wait!
When I first started reading it all went rather quickly, the tempo was very high paced, however I do think that's needed in the storyline. Only, the more the book progressed, the more the tempo slowed, even fading to too slow (for me). It felt like a chore to read it after a while. (I do want to say that I tried to finish this book before the publishing date and I had the busiest week at work, had no energy and didn't feel like reading at all, so that definitely played a part in my reading experience. ) That being said, I have read about 7392648 royalty romances so I do have some favourites that I compared these to so that might also have influenced me.
All in all I did like the story, it was more the tempo that did me in. And without wanting to spoil to much, the -let's call it- plottwist, just added to my more negative rating because it fel very unrealistic for a story set in this day and age.
I did LOVE Liss and Bear together! But again, their relationship felt forced, too quick and based purely on physical attraction. I felt like every other line was something like "oh he's so attractive" "oh he swallows, now I'm horny" "he just laughed, my thighs burn"
I think the story had a lot of potential but it wasn't executed to be what it could've been (if that makes sense)

Liss and Bear in Regally Binding. I mean I can't ever say no to a lost royal rom-com. It is one of my absolute favorite tropes! Felicity, aka Liss, is a pub manager that lost her mom at 19 and has had to find a family among friends to keep her going. Bear is the surly bodyguard that her Grandmother hires when the news breaks that Liss is a Princess, like the actual King's granddaughter. Bear and Liss are forced to hide out together until the DNA results come back, spending their days working on self-defense and trying to not let the intense chemistry between them lead them into doing something stupid. They face threats against her life, and she helps Bear and his business partner, Spike, out of a rough situation. This book has tense scary moments, incredibly kind and sweet moments, and off the charts tension.
Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op and NetGalley for the ARC of this swoony Royal Rom-Com! I will be recommending this to all of my rom-com reading friends, and I look forward to reading more work from Rebecca Chase in the future.

I really liked the premise of this book, but when reading it I actually struggled a little bit. Liss is meant to be a strong, independent young woman who has a hard life, but is making the best she can. Then all of a sudden she is declared to be kings granddaughter and her life spirals out of control. She lets the protection officers take her phone, her Grandmother is an awful excuse for a human being and I just wanted to slap her.
I did like it when Lisa took control of her life and told everyone what she would be doing, not the other way round.

For those who love Princess Diaries and bodyguard tropes, this book is definitely one you'll want to read. There was a lot of suspense and mystery to keep you engaged with the story. What was missing for me was a slower build up, I felt the insta lust was a bit much for me and wished Bear was more professional in the beginning. That said, I know that is more of a personal preference so don't let it keep you from reading this book. These characters did have some amazing chemistry and if you love spice this book will have enough of it! The writing was good as I felt the story was easy to read and the words flowed well.

I enjoyed "Regally Binding" quite a bit. It took me back to my "Princess Diaries" days! FMC Liss is a likable and sympathetic character and MMC Bear is a chocolate hoarding teddy bear of a bodyguard. The pair have good chemistry and banter, and the secondary characters add to the story nicely. The villains of the story are obvious (maybe purposefully so?), really just providing a good excuse to put our main couple into forced proximity. There is definitely more development of Liss's character than that of Bear, as she navigates the boundaries of grief, familial expectation, and her own long-held desires. The ending is a bit implausible but hey, it's a romance novel. Overall a fun, quick read.
3.5 stars, rounded to 4. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a complimentary ARC of this book. These opinions are my own.

What do you do when one moment you are managing a local bar and the next you may be a royal princess? Well, that is exactly what Felicity โLissโ Granger will have to discover. An announcement from the King will change her life overnight. She had no idea who her motherโs unknown father was as her Nana had never told them of her previous relationship. Her mother had passed away after a battle with cancer and Liss continues to grieve her loss. After his announcement and the news that his health is failing, Liss is protected by a bodyguard named Bear - and the name is perfect for him! As Liss tries to adjust to the pitfalls of the media and crowds, she also tries to stop her attraction to Bear. He is also finding himself attracted to her and knows that his business relies on his need to remain detached. She receives threats that she must renounce her title, but why, as the King has a son who will inherit? Will Liss finally realize that she isnโt ready for thisโฆthis is not who she isโฆand then there is Bear! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. Regally Binding is book one in the Closest Protection series by Rebecca Chase.
This was a very entertaining enemies to lovers story.
With the best characters.
This was a wonderful and enjoyable read.
Its rich storytelling and well-developed characters kept me engaged from start to finish.
I loved everything about this book. From the first chapter, I got sucked into the book and had a hard time putting it down.
Thank You NetGalley and Victory Editing for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

Great read! Laughed in places, loved the interaction between the body guards and her sassy self. The suspense was just right also
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you for allowing me to review

This is the perfect read to get you out of a reading slump !! It's a princess diaries fit the bodyguard spicy story and it was fun to read !! I loved Liss and Bear and I can't wait for Strike's and Millie book !! The end was predictable and there wasn't any plot twist for me but I loved every second reading this book !!

I feel this book was a steamy version of the princess diary movie.
Lisa used to have a normal life when all of a sudden everything changes when she finds out sheโs a princess and everything around her changes, this includes her having to deal with hot bodyguards.

Regally Binding by Rebecca Chase is the first novel that I have read by this author and I loved it!
It follows Liss as she is pulled from her comfortable life and told sheโs a princess. As the world becomes a dangerous place for her, Liss is assigned bodyguards. Thereโs an instant chemistry filled tension full of of lust between Liss and bodyguard, Bear and he was HOT! It was steamy, fun, quick and easy to read and so much! It is perfect for fans of Twisted Games by Ana Huang or the Princess Diaries. I loved the trope of found family in this book too, the idea of finding a family she never knew she had gives her hope and a sense of belonging she's longed for since her mother's passing and Bear, Bear, Liss's swoon-worthy bodyguard, who is tasked with keeping her safe amidst the chaos. Bear is a complex character, with his cheeky and grumpy exterior hiding a soft and caring heart. His dedication to Liss's safety is unwavering, but their constant bickering soon ignites into a sizzling chemistry that neither can deny. It is the perfect summer romcom to read and I think romance lovers will devour this!

Different take on a royal romance!
Liss (Felicity) Granger was happy pulling pints in a bar but she never expected to find out that the king had a secret affair with her grandmother and that she might be the granddaughter of the king. Lissโ life was going to change while she waited to find out if she was a princess or commoner. But now she was in the public eye but not everybody wants her there as a possible member of the royal family.
Liss now has a pair of bodyguards but her chemistry with Bear in particular seems to be a really bad idea but neither of them can stay away when Liss needs to make a decision about her future in the royal family.
If you like royal romances you need to read Regally Binding.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from the author and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to Rebecca Chase, Victory Editing, and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!!!
This was a cute read!!!
Regally Binding follows Liss Granger as she learns sheโs actually a princess, who now has a hot bodyguard following her around ๐
The characters were hilarious and I loved the banter between the main characters! This book was very The Princess Diaries - esque and I ate it up!!!
Regally binding is Spicy Romance with banter, cute nicknames, the Bodyguard x Princess trope, and pure rom-com vibes.
If you loved The Princess Diaries or The Bodyguard, youโll love this book!
Regally Binding comes out tomorrow June 25th!!!
This book review will be posted on Goodreads and Instagram today!

Sometimes all you want to read is a Princess x Bodyguard romance with lots of spice, emotion, tension and some danger too. This books feels like a day off, a breath of fresh air. Truly enjoyed reading it!
Very excited for book 2 and I hope there's some features of Liss and Bear!! Found a new family to love deeply!

This is justโฆ.odd. Itโs like slowโฆ.with the book reminding you every few minutes of the trauma with the girlโs dead mom and absent nana. But itโs also an insta-love type situation? I feel like this could have been so good, with Princess Diary feels, but it needs WAY more editing and more interesting characters. Plus the MMC is named Bear? That was an odd choice that I couldnโt seem to get over.

The female main character Liss is super endearing from page 1, when dealing with all the big personalities in her life. The male main character, Bear is like a charging bull that bulldozes her life in a way she didnโt know she needed. Throughout the twists and turns you are rooting for them every step of the way. The chemistry and the comic relief is top notch. I recommend this book for anyone looking for a mildly spicy funny rom com.
Thank you NetGalley, and Rebecca Chase for allowing me to be an arc reader of this book

This book was so much fun! I absolutely loved the plot! The characters were loveable, the drama was sizzling, the banter was hot, and the lost/secret royalty trope was so fun.
